ON THE PHOTO SHOOT, I'LL HAVE HIS PEOPLE GET WITH YOUR PEOPLE AND SEE WHAT CAN BE WORKED OUT. HE IS CROTCHETY IN HIS OLD AGE AND KEEPS A PRETTY FULL SCHEDULE BETWEEN LAYIN IN THE SUN AT THE FRONT DOOR, GOIN ON AN OCCASIONAL COONHUNT, GOIN TO TOWN SHOPPIN WITH THE WIFE AND CHECKIN THE PERIMETER FOR ANY FEMALES IN FULL BLOOM THAT MIGHT HAVE SLIPPED IN HERE DURING HIS NAP. <v>

Bentley 12-19-11

Had to make a Cabela's run yesterday afternoon, and on the way back had different people texting me about how the coon were moving and then also saw it for myself around Mineral Point when 3 big buggers went across the road.

Got loaded up around 10:30 PM and decided to leave Bo behind and just take Bentley. I haven't been taking him much, as as you can see by an earlier picture, someone else has been having fun taking him so that I can put more solo time into Bo.

It didn't take him long to get treed, and it was fun watchin him run across the chisel plowed field and never put his nose down once. He never opened on track, just started treeing. I see good things coming out of this dog in the future. He is a few days shy of 18 months.

Brandon glad to see he is turning into something you can be proud. Have saw Tully's two littermates to him do some nice work in the woods. There should be a few of them getting titles on them in the hunts come summer.

That's the problem, and a good one at that. I've got a 2 yo I want to push to GrNiteCh and now I've got Bentley also that will be ready to win with just the right time invested into him. Hate to see him be on the back burner, maybe Hannah and her Dad will havta come to the hunts with me...

Think I've got a coondog in the making

Took Bentley and Bo out last night. Both of them got solo time while the other got to listen in from the box. Bentley got 2 solo dumps, and went 2 for 2 with coon seen.

On the first tree, the tall oak was so tall, I couldn't believe my eyes at first and thought I was seeing things. He had taken the track over 700 yards from the truck, not taking into consideration the zigging and zagging. I figured i'd be looking at a coon hotel type of den when he pulled the trigger, but I got to pull the trigger on a big boar myself.

Next dump wasn't so hard for him. At first the coon played a trick and he got hung up a little, but moved on across the picked corn field and treed on the other side about 50 yards from a bulldozer pile. While he was treed, I checked out the "trick" and it was a big fallen tree into a gnarly oak. No coon seen, very pleased he moved on. It was near midnight by this time, and I figured he was treed on a bulldozer pile as that's what prior experience has taught me, but then I saw he was actually treed away from the pile, and there was a coon, I think I let out a "holy cow" or something to that effect.

I did hunt Bo and Bentley together for the last dump, figured I'd regret that one. They struck a track, started smoking it, and with Tri Tronics in had, they both slammed a tree about 90 yards from where I cut them in. It was a den, but the way that was sounding, I'm thinking it was close to gettin stretched!!

Anyways, I had my camera with me last night, so here's some pics....

Very nice hounds you have there you should be PROUD OF THEM AND YOURSELF FOR MAKING THEM WHAT THEY ARE ITS NOT EASY MAKING NICE HOUNDS WAY TO GO!

Bentley is just starting a very long journey. At least now I know he's worth my time, that in itself does a lot for me after having several that weren't worth my time in the past.

Lots of top coondogs in Bentleys pedigree top and bottom. his grandfather on the bottom (Fly) is one of the best i have turned loose.

That's what you told me when I first picked Bentley up as a puppy. All I can do is hope he fills those shoes of his ancestors some day.

I remember picking him up as a little puppy from Tully Beeghly's house and I left the sun roof open to my truck. When Colton Randecker and I went to leave it was completely dark out. As we were going down the road, something was in the truck with us. We flipped lights on, and there was a tree frog. Immediately that made me think of "Toad" and I thought if this is a sign, you have some mighty big shoes to fill!!

IT IS WITH HEAVY HEART THAT I WRITE THIS. BUCK TEXT ME AT 12:40 AM THIS MORNING TO TELL ME THAT HE HAD LOST HIS GRANDPA. WAYNE E. WURSTER SR. I HAVE KNOWN HIS GRANDPA FOR 30+ YEARS AND BEFORE BUCK WAS BORN.
HE TAUGHT US ALL ALOT AND WAS GREAT TO TALK TO ABOUT THE WAY THINGS USED TO BE. HE WAS RETIRED FROM THE RAILROAD AND ENJOYED HIS GARDEN, BUT MOST OF ALL, LOVED BEING IN THE TIMBER AND CUTTING WOOD. HE WAS A JOY TO BE AROUND AND ALWAYS HAD A GOOD STORY. HE WENT FOR A RIDE IN THE COUNTRY EVERY NITE ABOUT SUNDOWN TO LOOK AT DEER AND JUST ENJOY THE AREA HE LIVED IN. HE ALSO HAS FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS REALLY ENJOYED THE COMPANY OF HIS GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER, BUCK'S DAUGHTER AUBREY.
