Can't wait to see Barley Ray. Good luck at the State hunt and show, I am sure he will give them a run for their money. Keep me posted and send some pictures when you can.
This week Timmy and I are getting ready for the Missouri Federation finals invitional. Smoke and Robin are both in.
Had a good weekend and had a blast. Now it's back to the grind stone with the dogs.

Federation Hunt

Roy,
Turk will be represented well at the Federation Hunt, you have two sired by him , Paul has two also sired by him and I have one. Looks like a good chance for at least one to make it through to the finals........Tim

Been

Huntin Smoke and Robin this week and they are looking good. Last two nights we took a 9 month old pup out of Turk and Lucy that is comming along real good. She is gritty and will flat out get on a live one with no back up. Lacey is comming along great and should make a nice one for this kill season. She has a lot of tree in her and always has her nose on the ground lookin.
Timmy and I will put them in the timber again tonight for one last hunt befor the Federation Finals this weekend.

Timmy and I have got Smoke and Robin looking good for the Federation hunt tonight. They are just dogs but I think we will give everybody a run for their money. Hope we do well.

Hunted

at the Federation last night. Smoke had a terrible draw and lost his cast by 50. They drew 3 of the worst trouble makers known in the hunts. Timmy said it was a miserible night of mouthy trouble making hunters that would push everything right up to the point of being scratched but just shy.
I had a good draw and drew two grand nights and one other night champion. First dump the dogs got in deep and Robin got by herself and treed one in style. Turned her back in to the other dogs and they split up and went out of hearing in two different directions. We called time out to gather dogs. Next dump got third strike and second tree with the meat. Third dump got last strike and second tree with the meat again. Robin had 400 plus and no minus.
Robin advances to the sweet sixteen tonight for the second round and I hope to make the final 4 for the late round tonight.

Federation Hunt

Didn't get anything done. Robin looked terrible last night. See where she needs work on casting deep on pasture ground and go look for timber. She pulled one tree, got second and second on a coon and third and second on a den. She split off to her self but didn't get anything done and the other dogs got two coon that she wasn't in on.
We have had an awsome year with her, made Night Champion by 16 months old and she has one win toward Grand Night. She won Queen of Zone 1 night hunt overall for the year.
Regroup and put a kill season on her, she just turned two so we have a long time to improve.

Robin

I got the results from the Federation Hunt and Robin ended up with 14th place. 80 dogs hunted friday night and she won her cast with 400 plus. Saturday night she advanced to the sweet 16 and got beat by Siagon Rowdy who won 1st place in the final 4.

Little Smokies

Should be here around the 20th. Hope they have the looks of momma and daddy plus the drive they both have. I am excited about this cross. Drip, Jammer, Turk and Smoke all rolled up in one.
Smoke will be performanced for 2012. I think Smoke will be Turks replacement, if Tim ever runs out of straws!!!!haha. Only time will tell how Smoke reproduces but the blood is there and history does repeat it self. There is a long line of breeding that should keep comming to the top.
We are going to concentrate on Granding out Lou and Robin this fall and put both of them in the breeding pen for next year. Its a slow process but goes by really fast, just planning ahead.

Barley Ray

Last night Barley treed on a bent tree that was leaning against a bigger tree . HE jumped up on the tree chasing the coon . The higher the coon climbed the higher he went . The coon jumped to the other tree leaving Barley 30 feet in the air ,noway to turn around , and only one way down . Brian got underneath him and caught him enough to break his fall. Both are sore this morning and hopefully Barley has learned his lesson. I feel lucky they did not break anything . He has such a drive . Let us know when the pups get here.

Glad to hear that you guys are hunting Barley Ray. This line of dogs have big motors and a leaning tree will get them in trouble. Just be carefull, it wont be like that every time you go out. Barley will make a good one if you hunt him hard. Some of that energy has to be burnt off and it just takes a lot of hunting night after night. Sounds like for a year old pup he is doing great. Keep me posted, Timmy and I have talked about breeding to him a little later on. He is one of them purty plywood models that put a coon on the end too. His daddy maynot have any titles but is all coondog and Barley has some awsome blood flowin through him.

Waiting on pups

Got a female ( GrNtCh Drip X GrNtCh Owl Creek Jessie ) ready to drop pups out of Dual Gr Smoke. She has a belly full and should have them in a day or so. We will wait to see how many show up and should have a few for sale. They should be some track burnin get treed little guys.

Drizz is having pups

I'm working midnights right now and when I left home tonight she had 7 little Smokies on the ground and some more on the way. So far every one of them has a really good marked head and three are blanket backed. She is being a good mother and they are doing fine.

for the post. Yes they are doing fine. She had 13 pups no runts but does have one that looks a little skinny. Just got in from work and have'nt messed with them yet to sex them. Looks like 7 saddle backs and all 13 are maked really good.
Going to bed, maybe when I get up this afternoon I'll get some pic's and sex them then.

Back to normal hours

Been on a 6 week overhaul at the plant, working 7 days a week 12 to 16 hours a day. Just got off the over time list and back to normal hours now.
Haven't had time for much hunting but as dry as it is I don't think I'm missing anything by not going.
Drizz is doing fine with her little Smokies. Cut the population down to 7. Not trying to get on the breeding band wagon just raising a few for our selves. I really think these will be some awsome pups that will make it big time.
Got a couple of caged coon that we plan on working the young dogs on. Might have to soak the coon in water for a while before we turn them loose so the pups can trail them.haha
NtCh Mad Dog Lou is comming in heat, we will see if she will stand for ole Smoke here in a day or two.
