Meanie from my Twister/Ginger cross

He got his name becuase he was a bit of a bully when he was young. However, after a few attitude adjustments he was actually more docile than the others. He was very independent though. He wouldn't be with the rest of the hounds ever. The 3rd. time we took him to the woods he caught a coon on the ground. He was absolutley a natural track and tree hound. However, the boy that had him didn't like him becuase he was so independent. He was for sure a nice hound though. He finished out his life sitting around the farm.

Something around the first part of Dec. I'll go back and look to see. I haven't been that worried about them becuase unless she has a pile they have been sold since last year. I'm figuring on 6 at most. If that is what I have then I still have several people deep past that wanting one.

Thanks Steve, I don't want one right noe (maybe when I donr have a littewr of my own) I just want to see how they look lol I love puupies. I am also kinda looking at what I might want ot breed my female to in a few years (if she turns out)

Those were the smaller ones. One of the ones Kid treed by himself was probably 35 pounds. Our biggest was 45 pounds. My best memory of big ones is being split treed 20 yards apart and one coon weighed 39 pounds and the other was 37.. Last nite Kid and I went out with Annie and put up 3 in about 30 minutes. He sure is doing good for a pup. I should say he is doing great. Trees his own, handles great, our woods is almost all under water and he handles all the tracks and the water like a pro. Thats why I love the Red dogs. They only need to be given a decent chance and not just left on the chain till hunted. Take care,

The biggest one I've ever shot was about 25 lbs. or so. I could hold it at my waist by it's foot and it's nose would touch the ground. So compared to down here that's huge. I do know ya'll's are much bigger though. That also makes them easier to smell. Wish we had more water around here for sure. The brother and sister to Kid I kept are doing alright, in the woods, but it would sure be easier if it wasn't so dry. Even with the rains we've had we're still way behind on rainfall.

Well I should know this week about how many she is going to have. I plan to X-ray her this week and that should give us something near a good count. Looks to me like it will likely only be about 3 or 4 but I should know before long. I sure can't wait to have some Twister pups again. It was a big gamble that has sure paid off!

Looks like this super close blood is still going to be pretty rare...

I was hoping for a pile to try get several more titled hounds out of Twister but it looks like it may be just a few. They could see one for sure a possibly two more. So I'm figuring about 3 or maybe 4. She's way to big for just one that's for sure.

Steve, this is good news still with Seman that old thats GOOD a live A.I. u only get about five pups or thats what Ive been told 5 is a good number hope u save everyone of them.

Yeah, if I get just one then that's better than a new truck to me. Talk about priceless these really are as rare as these pups will be. Not only becuase of Twister being their dad but all the other blood behind them to. I sure hope to get one good female. There is some nice stuff out there out of Rocky to breed her to.

if they told you they could feel 3, you have more than that I'd say! They can't feel all the pups & if they are honest they will tell you that they give you a low # so they don't get your hopes up & them look like an idiot! She will probably have 5 or 6! frozen semen does not mean that you will have small litters. My Harry dog has never been live bred & he throws 5 to 8 in most litters with with the exception of one female only having 3. Good luck buddy, & hope high #'s

I'm sure hoping for more. You're right about the frozen semen producing as well. The thing is you have to spend the money to do it right. Of course this Twister stuff was stored using older methods than what they have now. Some of this stuff now is about as good as live breeding. I guarantee you one thing if one of these Twister pups is a male and it turns out right, there will be many collections taken from him. It's like Harry, if you've got a good stud it only makes sense to collect it so that when you are hunting them even if something does happen to them you can still come back and breed to them. Now females that's another deal. I have checked more recently into saving eggs from dogs but the fact is that they are so fragile that it's very costly and you have very weak numbers. Basically, you are out of luck on them. If something happens it just happens, with no way of preserving what you had.

with your future pups. Sometime I would like a female from you or Preston sometime. We will be breeding Annie when and if she comes into heat. Although it kinda looks like she may not come into heat or only comes in once a year. She hasnt come into heat since we had her. I contacted Larry Stringer and am trying to get a pup out of Jabo also. That Jabo is one good looking dog. I sent you a Email about Dozer and let me know what to think. Im going to try and make it to Redbone days in Arkansas in March. Going to see if anyone else from Wisconsin wants to go. If theres still snakes out Ill stick around the clubhouse though, LOL. Kid Rock is still fine and is ready to hunt some more. We will see how he likes the snow and ice in a couple days. Waiting for muzzle loader season to end Sunday. Didnt even see a deer during gun season. Our woods is still under water with about a 1/2 inch layer of ice covering everything. Take care

I can tell it definately cooler where you are.

We are just now really getting some consecutive cold days. Up until lately it just been off and on. My deer hunting sounds about like yours. The only difference is my wife has now totaled out two deer with first her car and then mine. So now she has killed more deer than me. They were all over the place during muzzleloader season here. However, when modern gun season started it's like they dissappeared. I normally hear around 50-60 different people at minimal shooting opening day this year I heard 7. It's like they completely evacuated the area this year. I'll read your e-mail and send ya one back. I haven't been on here much lately. Busy at work and then have been over at my place putting up electric fence for goats. They were getting out and trying to eat my neighbors flowers, they didn't appreciate that to much.

Yeah, this is the one I was talking with you about when I came up to your house. I have been working on putting this cross together for years at this point. I'm sure glad it finally all came together. Been alot of miles and a decent amount of cash. However, I finally have what I was trying to put together back about 12 yrs. ago when I decided to originally try and do this cross. Thank goodness for good friends and those friends having the forsight to get Twister collected. If not for all of them this wouldn't have been possible. I am truely blessed to have met so many good people in the Redbone breed.

your pups are still doing good. Woke up this morning with alot of snow outside and real windy. Under a winter blizzard warning until 5:00 pm today. Kid might be done coonhunting for the winter but we have a bobcat that weighs over 40 # living on the farm that Kid will get to run this week sometime. The cat likes to walk right by the house. I wont be shooting it out to him though. We've been treeing bobcats around there every so often for the last 20 years and its always fun to tree one. Ill be putting a little catnip out to draw him in to make it easier for Kid to run first cat. Take care and will see you in March.

O yeah they are fine...

I know what you talking about on the weather. I was trying to outrun it this weekend. I made a run out to about 10 miles from Virginia in Kentucky to meet Ron Swann to pick up a female. I was being chased the whole way back by cold weather and threats of snow. I had really planned to sleep once I got this female but with all that coming I ended up making it to just outside of Memphis, Tn. before I had to stop and sleep. Luckily, I only saw a few flurries.

This is a female that Darin Gher originally owned. He said she was really nice when he had her there. She went to a few other homes and ended up at Ron Swan's house to have her first litter of pups. I caught the Flu Fri. morning and wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make it over to the other side of Kentucky from S. Ark. to get her but I made it fever and all. Once I seen her and had a visit with her I would have paid twice as much and not thought twice about it. She is super nice to handle and reminds me so much of my old Ann female I had out of Twister. As of early this morning she is here to stay. Thanks, Darin and Ron.

Well...

I just got off the phone with Darrin Gher her original owner and he said her original name was Kitty. Well I went out to have a visit and it has been a while but I called her by both name which she responded to but she would sit down and start twisting around when I called her Kitty. So I guess it's back to her original name. Maybe I'll use one for when she bad and the other for when she's good. That always worked for me growing up. Hollering out my full name always let me know something was up and it probably wasn't good for me.

Huey sure has put some nice looking gips on the ground ! the Betty female I had is in PA she will be bred to Light'in soon as she comes in she has one heck of a mouth on her & is a TREEDOG she is off of a Big G farms gip.

I have another Huey gip down at Josh Guffeys she is a Grandaughter of Murphys Little Girl she also will be bred to Light'in when Josh brings her over here.

Betty looks alot like your gip u have there, the one down a Joshs is a little smaller.

Wasnt trying to take your thread over just a little input.
