-- Nascar- Jimmie Johnson (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928370647)

2003

2003?? Man, I would have to think on it a while just to remember who I was married to in 2003 or if I was even married, lol! But, I had my wife look it up and it looks like Newman had 8 wins but Kenseth won the Championship and Jimmie came in 2nd, JR. 3rd, Gordon 4th, Harvick 5th and Newman, with 8 wins came in 6th. That bites. One heck of a year to finish like that, just like what happened with Bad Brad last year with 6 wins and didn't make the final 4 and we had Hamlin with one and Newman with none. Just shows no matter how many wins you got, if luck and the breaks aren't on your side, you lose. I feel like its good for the sport AND that the fans want to see someone with at least a couple wins AND consistency every race win the Championship, unless its Jimmie Johnson. The only thing that will stop that 48 team from getting number 7 is Bad Luck. They found their speed at the end of last year and they are bringing it this year. Love him or hate him, NO ONE can drive closer to the edge of losing control and win the race. Don't hurt to have the best crew chief either.

Iam not a Jimmie fan at all , he's a good driver but if it wasn't for the chase format he may have one or two at best championships ! The man who would have the most championships if racing old format would probably be Kyle bush ( hate to admit that one also ) chads been busted how many times cheating ? I don't think it's Jimmie I dislike so much as it is chad knaus . But the golden horshoe thing is now in harvicks a$$ . NASCAR has their favorites don't think they don't , wouldn't be surprised if ol Hendricks or haas isn't sliding the wonderful great Helton family some Benjamin's under the ol table .... NASCAR sure as crap didn't throw a caution last week at dega to bring field to checkered flag - they wanted Jimmie to drive right on by jr . Just like when mark Martin lost the 500 to harvick - should have been a caution waved immediately . But it's nascar's litter box we just take a dump in it every weekend ! NASCAR = male soap opera

FAN FAVORITE

I feel Nascar didn't wave the caution at Dega because the fan favorite was leading and they wanted it to end under the green flag. To many times Dega ends up finishing under a caution because of big wrecks coming out of the last turn. It was a sold out crowd with the majority being JR. fans. Its funny the way we all look at things different because a couple years ago I was convinced Nascar was Cheating Jimmie Johnson. Seemed like if he pitted under the green Nascar would throw the caution for debris or some other B S and Jimmie would start at back of pack while the rest of the field pitted under caution. Also there were several restarts at end of the race where Jimmie would beat the starter by a few feet and Nascar sent him to the back but the next week Carl Edwards did the same thing and won the race and Nascar let it slide. I do know Chad Knaus pushes that gray area to the max and then some and you could look at it as cheating OR just a smart crew chief trying to get away with all he can. Anytime its millions of dollars involved there will be some form of cheating going on. Tom Brady is a good example that comes to mind. If it ever came out that Jimmie won 6 championships because they cheated, then I would be done with Nascar for good.

CHEATERS

Sure they did, and some even wrecked their way to 7 championships.

I know, I agree with jackbob42, we, as fans sometimes see what we want and all have different opinions on what we see and who we think the best driver is. That makes it fun to talk about. I do try to keep an open mind and I do give other drivers compliments on their driving ability whether I like them or not. I used to hate to see Kurt Bush anywhere near Jimmie as it seemed he would cause trouble for Jimmie and his excuse was it was just hard racing but always ended up Jimmie got the bad end of it. But last year ole Kurt took the time to stop and talk to Mason in the garage at Miami and I gained a whole lot of respect for him as a person for taking the time to talk to a kid. So now if he wrecks Jimmie I will still be mad, but not nearly as much as in the past, lol!
My point about the wins was meant to be that I feel like all drivers in the Chase need at least one win so we don't end up crowning a Champion one day that has No wins. I'm sure in 2003 there was a lot of Newman fans that thought it was wrong that Kenseth got it with one win, and Newman had one of the best years ever in Nascar History. Like in Football, when its playoff time the team that stays hot or gets hot is most likely to be your Champ, if the luck stays with them too.

1- Truex- winner
2-Kurt Bush
3-Harvick
4-Jimmie

Well boys, I like the chase, but I'm old school. I still prefer a driver winning on points, regardless of wins. Top 10 fininshes on a consistent basis used to mean something. Not anymore! However, The Chase has brought more interest in NASCAR. For the drivers and teams, making the chase must be very stressful???? Idk if Gordon's gonna make it this year, it seems his heart isn't in it this year? Just thinking about retirement!!!!

ALL Star Race

Hamlin got the win Saturday night. I didn't get to watch it as I had to work but my wife kept me updated as she watched it. She said she heard Chad Knaus might be up to his old tricks that we all have been talking about. They are under investigation for something but I haven't had time to watch the news or look it up. Some rules violation of the All Star race. Whatever it is didn't help him a bit, as Mason says, " He's Harvick slow Paw Paw! "

FULL DAY OF RACING

Montoya won the 500, Truex is fast tonight BUT, the man on the move is Jimmie Johnson. He spun out on lap 135, went through pit road speeding, had to go to back of the pack, a lot of green flag racing and pit stop and he is in 8th. Caution just came out so look for him to take the lead within the next 40 laps.

JIMMIE WRECKED

Well, I jinxed Jimmie. He was in 5th, spun in same spot again and hit pit road wall. He's in the garage so now I will cheer for Truex or JR.

WINNER!!!!

My second pick gets the win, Carl Edwards! Didn't hear much about him during the race but at the end he was where it counted, out front and in the lead. That's a long race but he could still stick his back flip.

Most of the top 5 were at 80% throttle at the end saving fuel. I was pulling for the #78 & #18 actually.
