Nelly is coming in season.

So much for plans lol. I wasn't expecting Nelly to be in season until Spring, but I checked her this evening (11/11/2014) and she is coming in now.
I took her to the vet this morning (11/12/2014) for a blood progesterone test to determine when she will be at the peak time to breed. The vet said the earliest would be Saturday, but he is thinking more around next Tuesday. I will take her to the vet again on Friday to pinpoint the exact day. Hopefully, it will be Sunday and I can take her out to Stanley's, get her bred, then return home with her. If not, I will leave her there, so we don't miss our chance at having a litter.

Thanks. I penciled that pedigree on a piece of scrap paper one day and thought the same thing.

Because it is such a line bred cross, I asked several for their opinion before deciding to give it a go. Everyone I spoke with thought it would be a good cross.

I'm just trying to better the breed. It has already been proven that line breeding on Nichols Tree Spike is successful with Main Street Jack. Also, there has been success with line breeding Roy. Evidence of that cross can be found in Seth Isch's Main Street Dino. With this cross, we get a double shot of Roy/Spike, but also a doubling up of Nite CH Longs Hardknockin Tammy.

With the age of Max, I figured if I was going to make this cross, then I had better do it now. I am heading to Stanley's tonight. Nelly will be bred to Max tomorrow with puppies due the middle of January. I have high hopes and a good feeling about this cross.

Stanley is like me. He strives making the other people he draws have to tree a coon to beat him. I ask him the same question he said he will get gone get alone and have the evidence. He said Max probably holds the record for cast won with 125Plus. I have been told max has a big moter and produces it in puppies.

Bobby most of Max pups are drifting type of track dogs open here and there and are very independent and have a regular chop mouth. I would say the strong point of his pups are they are not junky and are not runners look to get treed with a coon.

The cross has been made. I would like to thank Stanley for the hospitality today. I wish we could have stayed longer to talk, but the long drive forced us to leave after getting Nelly bred to Max. It's been awhile since I have driven twelve hours one way, then turn around and make that twelve hour trip back. The things we do for our hounds lol.

Here's a pic of Nelly and Max:

Stanley couldn't get over how much Nelly looked like her daddy all the way down to the brownish colored toe nails. With the build that Nelly and Max have, this cross should produce some good size pups built for speed.

Joe, your Little Red female was my first Main Street dog and I liked her a lot. Then, I was able to get Nelly and like her a lot too. I could see a pattern, so I'm going to try doubling up on that and see what I get. My plan down the road is to outcross a female out of Max on Yogi and maybe with the male pup I kept out of Bruiser x Little Red if he turns out to be a good one. I like the opportunity to go so many different ways with crosses into this line.
