Howdy everybody-- I was over on the other thread checkin' up on the latest news---sounds like some excellent news for Mike praise the lord. Everything is nice and cool so far here in the holler but it's not afternoon yet. Linda said the blackberries are gettin' red, may have to bake one and ship it to Mike for a gettin' well card. Sorry can't send any ice cream with it as slow as the mail is unless you can wait till winter, then you'll be so busy huntin' it will spoil.
I got a checkup on my recent surgery. I had cancer and they reported that I was cancer free then. I had a appointment yesterday in St.Louis with me cancer doctor and the report said I was free and I could start doing anything I wanted. I had the surgery in Feb.3,2011. Has many many people praying for me and their is no words and I can think of to thank them. The man above was watching over me.

Hey Spotty, Wondering if you knew where you can sell herb roots. A neighbor gave me a start of Black Cohosh the other day and said you can sell the roots but he didn't know where. Mom use to sell roots years ago, I think down around St. Louis but I don't remember the name of the place. She use to sell golden seal, may apple, and if I remember right this place used to even buy squirrel tails although I don't know what for. He was asking me where to sell and I told him I would see if I could find out. I know Kirchoffer buys ginseng but never saw him advertise to buy anything else. Mike I'm glad to hear you are doing better. Went through a bout of sicknesses myself last year was not fun. The thing that really ragged me off was I missed Mushroom hunting. Wasn't allowed to walk very far and not supposed to bend over. Tryed to talk TD into letting me go anyway and I could just use one of those grabbers to pick them and he wouldn't let me!!! Guess he thought if I did he might lose his cook.
I know what you are talking about. I missed last season of coon hunting. At least I will be ready to squireel hunt come Aug. 1. I will sight my rifle in and get it ready.

MIke, just goes to show what the power of prayer will do. When you get to go hunting you will have to show pictures. I use to coon hunt with TD and his dad. His dad had heart problems so I would stay with him while TD chased down the dogs. Life was a lot simpler back then. Now a days it's hurry up and go. Doesn't seem like there are enought hours in the day to get everything done. My kids used to complain because I made them help in the garden when they were younger, so one day I finally told them that when there city kid friends grew up and things got bad they wouldn't know how to take care of themselves, but at least my kids could grow something to eat if need be. August first will be here before you know it.
Rex,
what has happened to your email- has someone hi-jacked it....
Td ,Darwin buyes all kinda of roots ..I know he deals in more than just ginseng and golden seal..I'll see if I can find out what the Black is going for....we are all mighty thankful for Mikes good news and recovery..we were all pretty worried about him for awhile..yea my old houndtown address got hijacked..my new one is... bypass.road@hotmail.com

you men seen this one....................Illinois problems deeper than governor
Wed, July 06, 2011
It’s easy to point to all our crooked governors as proof of the problems facing Illinois politics.
And no doubt, we have been cursed with a unique run of governors.
But they aren’t the only folks walking around with their hands out. Nope. We have a culture of crooked folks in Illinois politics. And they aren’t all from Chicago.
Consider the case of Scott Flood, son of former Department of Natural Resources director Sam Flood. The Belleville News-Democrat reported today that Flood will resign as of July 15 from his $70,000 per year DNR job as a regional land manager. He does so just in time to qualify for a state pension.
That is despite the recommendation of an ethics committee that Flood should have been fired for ...
* Sleeping during the work day.
* Using his state cellular phone, vehicle and electronic equipment for personal purposes.
* Conducting personal business at work.
* Arriving late and leaving early for work.
* Failing to inform the agency of outside business interests or employment.
This is no shock, of course. Scott Flood’s father Sam is the former county clerk of St. Clair County and helped Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s campaign. He got paid off by being named DNR’s acting director in 2005. Then he became an assistant director. In what should come as no shock, Sam Flood’s son has had a nice job for the past eight years.
So it goes in Springfield and across Illinois. And I’ve talked to several guys who said Sam Flood was, “A great guy.” Maybe his son is, too.
That’s not the point.
The point is that so long as Springfield is filled with jobs for folks who don’t actually work, the state will remain in a world of hurt. And we will wind up with governors in jail.

Rex you nailed it. I don't know the solution to the problem. We need to fire everyone of them and put common people in their and then this state will be right.
