Tim brought Sadie up to go hunting. I was going to take the new power & Squeak. Tim thought we should take Luke also. First turn we sent the three littermates. Bonnie opened a few times playing catchup. Bonnie strikes and moves about 50 yds and blows up treed. Tim & I was thinking possum. Sadie gets treed with her then Luke. She had 3 coon. Next deal we sent all four. Squeak & Bonnie gets treed quick. Sadie trees a little but not like she can. Luke never trees with them. Again I was thinking possum but it was slick. They were only 118 yds from us when they treed. Luke got treed 60 yds from the gyps as we were walking in. He had a coon. Last deal they go over 900 yds. We drove closer where the Garmin showed treed. Just a few barks when we stopped driving. Dont know bu i bet they caught one. We set there 15 minutes before they left the area. Squeak & Bonnie got treed 700 yds from the hole but Luke & Sadie didn't like it. Luke & Sadie went on through the section and we gathered them. The other two finally left the possum and come in. I believe Bonnie has a home in Kansas.

Hunted Luke & Bonnie. Sent Bonnie on the first drop. She goes in 60 yds opens a couple times and gets treed with a coon. Sent both the next drop. Luke gets treed first at 160 yds but Bonnie was there on the second locate. They have that one. Next drop Bonnie opens at 360 yds and gets treed. Luke opened on the tree a couple barks but moves on 75 yds and trees with a coon. Bonnie quit treeing and was moving deeper before Luke treed. She treed right with him. Last drop Bonnie opens on a bad track close to me. Luke gets treed at 260 yds and Bonnie left her deal and covered. He had a coon.

It's been a couple months since I've posted on the forum. My son, Dusty decided he wanted to get a hound and start hunting again. It's been 20 years since he hunted much. Terry Monroe gave him a young dog to hunt. I sure appreciate Terry doing this. Dusty & I hunted tonight and the pup acted like a pup normally does the first night out. We did manage to tree two trees with litters & a den tree. One tree we didn't find a coon in.

Mr Combs & Mr Lovell drove up from Oklahoma for a hunt. It wasn't terribly hot and we treed several trees with coon. Jeff has a real nice litter of pups from his grand nt Sally x Luke. Both patents are coon treeing hounds and just as soon be by themselves. Eleven pups and there all good looking.

My son was over to hunt. Dusty is trying to get his pup started. First turnout Luke & Bonnie goes in 730 yds along a corn field & blow up treed, coon seen. Next drop Luke hangs a right 50 yds in as the other two keep getting country. Luke goes up a small stream 90 yds and gets treed, coon seen. The gyps were treed at 420 yds, tree was slick. Next drop they go nearly a mile and didn't open. Last drop through a section not a bark.

No hunting tomorrow night. My aunt & uncle's funeral is Saturday morning. They lived in Wichita, Ks and was a vendor at a county fair in Great Bend. They were kidnapped & murdered two weeks ago. Please pray for the family.

Tim was over to hunt. He had his old dog, Chief & Kate. I took Luke & Bonnie. Luke, Bonnie & Kate are litter mates that we have now. First turn out they took a track 350 yds & treed a coon. Next they went almost a mile and didn't strike. Next turn they struck quick went 200 yards and treed a litter. They went over a half mile and treed a coon. We had a hard runner in the corn for 30 minutes and the track blew up. Chief slips around and treed a coon 80 yds from us. Luke & Bonnie trees a coon a half mile away. Midnight we headed in.

Jim Combs and I traveled to BBCHA Ed Mead Hunt. I hunted Bonnie and scored 775 + and 712.5 + two 1st high dog of hunt.

Thanks Matt, Big Blue (Scout) would be brother & first cousin to Bonnie. I will be very disappointed if Scout & siblings don't turn out to be nice coon catchers.

Tim was up for a hunt. He had Chief his older dog & Kate. I took Luke and Bonnie. First drop they struck quick Luke went east the other 3 went west. Luke treed with a coon 200 yds. The others made a bad loose around 300 yds. Chief got treed 175 yds north of the road with a coon. Kate & Bonnie treed one south of the road 230 yds. Next drop the all struck 100 yds in. A short run in the Milo then treed it. Kate was loose walking out and struck. She treed that one after moving it 150 yds. Kate is making a nice hound. Last drop they went in several hundred yards and didn't strike . Kate was back first so Tim sent her the other direction. She struck over 450 yds in and got treed. Chief & Bonnie covered, but no coon. Luke had worked the track over 200 yds from that tree and had the coon. Sure enjoyed seeing these young dogs split treeing and doing it with company. All 3 need about 100 nights by themselves.

sounds like you guys are having a lot of fun with them young dogs. Congratulations on the first place win with Bonnie. You going to have to put a ( sire & Dam ) on the end of their names so I can Keep up with their linage. Keep up the writing I enjoy reading about your hunts.

Jack the litter of Rebel × Daisy includes: Luke, Fancy, Pepper, Sadie, Kate, Bonnie. There all treeing coon and nice acting hounds. Sleepy had a male from the litter that he placed with an older fella. One gyp had a hip problem and I gave her to a guy for a pet. Eddie Green also has a gyp from the cross. She's just started but runs and trees .

Jeff Lovell & his buddy Sam was up for a hunt. He also brought me a pup from his Sally female. We made seven trees with coon & one large oak that Luke treed on. I counted that one as 8. He's pretty honest. The walker gyp treed a couple trees with no coon. It was around 10 pm when we started and 130 when they headed back to Oklahoma.

Hunted Bonnie alone between storms. It took 3 hunting spots for her to tree a coon. I don't walk one nor do I get after one for not hunting. I turn them loose in good spots and set in the truck. Bonnie was in and out a few times at each spot. She got treed at 305 yds. She had been close to where she struck a couple times. A few more nights alone and she'll have it figured out.

Well, I do get ones attention if they don't go hunting after being trained. That normally is right before they change homes.

Thought I had better take Bonnie out for a short hunt, shoulder surgery at 7:30 am. It was the 4th night she had been by herself. She had treed a coon on each of the other 3. Bonnie stays busy but still hasn't figured out to get gone when cut loose. She'll go 100 to 400 yds in and out. One direction then anouther. First drop no strike. Second drop 420 yds down a tree row and corn, 200 yds through the corn back to the road along the corn. Third drop she was smelling something when I cut loose. She messed around for a few minutes but never opened. Fell treed at 110 yds with a coon. Next drop she struck close, made a 300 yd circle in the corn and treed a coon in a big oak. Last drop she messed around 50 yds of the truck in and out. She headed up the road so I just let her go. Around 400 yds she left the road and opened a few times and treed a coon 80 yds in. It takes a lot of hunting alone to get a hound like Irene. Bonnie may not have the ability but hunting her is the only way I can find out. I do believe Bonnie will make a hound that trees a lot of coon. She strikes often from the box but I don't cut loose. I feel that slows a young dog down on going hunting.

Tom Williams from Ava Mo brought Buster over for a tune up for the Zone hunt. Buster has hunted crop fields & water but Tom hunts mostly hills & creeks. I took Luke & Bonnie. Tom was a little surprised at the track running we had. Several good running coon. The first track went 3/4 of a mile north, then a quarter east & 1/2 mile back south. With a few circles in the beans for our enjoyment. Over 2.5 miles on the Garmin. Next deal some hard running in the beans for 30 minutes and a good job treeing, coon seen. Next deal we sent up a big creek where they treed at 192 yds with a coon. Last drop Buster made a circle in the corn and treed a coon. Luke & Bonnie had one going in some beans. That went on for an hour or more. Tom sent Buster to them late in the ordeal. Finally treed up a big tree but never found a coon. Buster was split 50 yds up a big tree and didnt find it either. The hounds got plenty of exercise.

I will be busy tomorrow in the hay field but will call if I get a chance. Steve and I had a good round of hunting. Coon were not moving very good. First drop .76 had 3 coon in the tree. Second drop struck around 300 yds. Moved the track over 200 in the beans but no tree. Went over a half mile and got treed, slick. Next deal treed a coon around 550 yds. Next they circled a swamp over a half mile and not a bark. Next drop struck quick and treed a coon at 219 yds. Next drop went a mile and no bark. Next drop Maggie & Bonnie treed at 1.3 miles standing in the middle of a big creek. They acted like they were winding but we never saw a coon. Luke had got deeper and treed. He was over 1.75 mile from where we sent from. Treed in a Hugh pecan and no coon seen.

I've been able to hunt Luke alone some the past couple weeks. The females in heat next to him in the kennel has his mind messed up. He's not going hunting as good and not as fast. I belive he's worn out keeping track of the gyps. I did haul Flo to Iowa to visit Botox. Bonnie has been in heat 16 days. She's getting hunted tomorrow night alone. Hope to have her ready for the round up. When the farmers get the beans harvested our coon treeing is better. Ten or more trees with coon is not uncommon before midnight.

Next drop struck close worked over 300 yds and treed a litter. Next they struck around 300 worked over a half mile and treed a litter. Next struck at 270 yds worked along a rough pond swamp, crossed the road by us and treed a coon. Next drop struck close put one in a hole after working over 400 yds. Next a big oak but no coon seen. Seen some coon 30 yds away. Last drop ran a hot track 350 yds and treed a coon. A good season on these two should bring them right along. They have 4 sisters that are sure nice.
