TRAMP 11

I will miss hunting BO with Tramp. Mr. Jack and I had some nice hunts together with them as they complimented each other well and worked good together. I bet him and Creek do the same. Proud to know that he has a great home with you like he did with Mr. Jack and wish you the best with him Scott. Take Care and have fun hunting Ole Tramp 11.

Thanks Steve,
I have been blessed to have him here. I hunted him last night with my young Tack male and had a nice hunt. I should be smart enough not to take two dogs to the woods that I may have to lead out at my age but I am not. It went real well though anyway. From the time I turned Tramp and Tack loose they never saw each other again all night. Tramp went right and Tack went left. I was primarily watching Tramp as I did not want him to go back towards the road so I was watching him pretty close on the Garmin he hunted out a smaller patch that goes into a bigger woods and did a good job covering it from what I could see on the Garmin and worked back east on the creek. I did not want him to go that way so I called him in (he has a great handle on him). And walked him across an alfalfa field and turned him into the bigger piece from there he headed south west and worked through the one woods through a corn field and into a much bigger piece of timber. He struck on the south end of the cornfield and worked into the timber. I could only think if you don't like Tramps voice you don't like Blueticks! I worked my way to him because according to the Garmin we were now in about a half mile from the truck. Tack continued to work through the smaller patch and into the next piece of woods but did not open nor was he coming to Tramp. Tramp got hooked and I got into him and he was up a large Pine filled with vines and grapes. I could not get around it well enough to check it over real good and did not see anything. I petted Tramp up and we headed back towards the truck. Tack was now hunting out the cornfield and I still did not hear anything out of him. Tramp and I finally got back to the truck and I put him up and sat on the tailgate to check out Tack and the batteries were going dead in my Garmin. I always (except last night) put a second set in my vest but had forgot to put them in. They were sitting on my hunting bench when I got home. I dug through the console in my truck and found a set that I had never seen before? They looked like the cheap kind they put in flashlights or something when you buy them so I doubted they would be any good. I put them in and the settings showed a full battery!? I could not believe they were good and I have no idea where they came from. I could see then Tack was in about 900 yards and heading west. He was hunting all good ground so I thought let him go. I drove around the section but could not get any closer to him so I returned to where I turned out. As I watched him on the Garmin he then got on our track and followed it all the way back to the alfalfa field Tramp and I had crossed earlier. I walked into him there and was able to call him in and leash him up. He had been out a total of 3 hours without opening and put on about 3 miles. Those kind I guess you have to be patient with because they could care less about a "pup trainer".
All in all Tramp, Tack and I had an enjoyable hunt but I think it was way too nice out for the coon to be moving. It was a clear sky with about a half moon and very bright out. By the time we were done the temperature was in the low 50's. I felt bad when I left out because Creek really let me know I forgot to take her. This morning she had already forgiven me though and got a little more time getting petted.

Tramp x Creek

Had a nice little hunt tonight with Tramp II and Creek.
Turned them out away from a woods that has some clearing being done in it but they got into it anyway. My son Zack and I got to them treed and we knew we had too many clothes on. Big leaner going into a big den. Probably in the den but did not see it.

Bill, you been asking me to put up a picture of Gin 11. She is out of Tramp11 and Gin. I kept thinking some one would come by one day and we would get a good picture of her. But I just took this one in the pen, not a very good picture of her, but I'll get a better one later. I'll be starting her as soon as I get over this eye surgery deal.

A great time as always at the Fall Roundup. Got to visit with some old friends and hopefully made a few new ones.
The Club did a great job again in West Plains. Hunted with some nice dogs and great guides all three nights. Tramp did a real nice job too.

Pleasure Hunt

Had a good old fashioned pleasure hunt tonight with Tramp II and Creek. I have been mostly hunting Tramp as Creek is due to come in heat pretty soon but my son went with me tonight so I decided to take both of them. Cut loose in a big section behind my old house and they fired in quick. At about 300 yards Creek opened followed by Tramp and they worked the track out and Creek turned it over. Tramp checked it and went on and was working out from there. We got to the tree and it was a huge pine and we checked it over pretty good but nothing to be seen. I was able to call Tramp in and we walked in deeper. Tramp struck off the lead followed by Creek and we cut them from there. They worked in about 600 yards and were rattling the timber pretty good. On the Garmin Tramp seemed to be leading the charge and at one time they got so deep we could not hear them. I could see on the garmin they were treed and we go over a ridge and could hear them pretty good then and they were really ringing him up. We had a pretty good walk to get to them yet and they did not miss a breath. We got in there and it was a huge maple tree with a big split right up the middle and I could see it was a den. My son Zack said he seen him up on top as we were walking in. I thought about taking a picture of the two of them stretched out on the tree but we were pretty winded and I figured the dogs had been there long enough. We tied them back and brought down their reward. Let them both get a piece of it and got our bearings for the walk back out. The dogs did a nice job and I always enjoy hunting with my son.

That's the pup I tried to talk Justin out of when he was 10 weeks old. Loved the way he looked with that open ticked face and could tell by looking at his picture he was gonna be a Coon Dog! He has a Fine Mouth on him and glad to see he's going to do what he was bred to do, Tree Coons! I offered Justin Good Money for that pup but he's kind of Stingy with his Hounds, lol! Ain't we all! Joker isn't what Justin named him but that's what I was going to call him if he would have ended up here. Tramp 11 is putting Ability, Mouth and Looks in his pups.

Thanks Gary,
Not sure what I ever did to deserve Tramp and Creek but I sure like them.
Tramp has a date coming next week to get bred so good lord willing Tramp will have another litter on the ground in a couple of months. I believe he has bred three females and all of the litters are treeing coon. From what I am seeing he is throwing his mouth on his pups and that is a good thing. Mr. Jack is getting his Gin II pup going good. Gin II is out of Tramp and a daughter of Dutch and Hammerhead.
We were having some warmer than normal fall weather here but Winter came last night as it is cold, snowy and windy here today. With the wind chill it feels like 19 degrees here this morning. We are at the start of the 9 day gun deer season here today so there will not be any coon hunting here for now.
Fresh bedding and a flap on the door for all of the dogs last night before the weather set in and they were all settled in this morning. Mr. Jack Tramp is doing great and we will make sure to take great care of him in the winter months up here. He does not seem to mind the weather and we are feeding him good Victor dog food so he is looking good.
