Mike hope you find somebody to go with. If all else fails make Barb go!

Posted by Mike Milam on 12-18-2011 02:08 PM:

She would go but she wants to sit in the truck. I need her to carry the rifle and the coons out for me. I told her that it wouldn't be a hard job cause I would be to slow getting to my dog and she wouldn't wait that long.

Bob his grandson and myself ran Bob's beagles this mornin'. Got one good run, but the second wasn't that good. Gettin' plenty of exercise Nice day to get out in the woods. Time to get a bite to eat.

Been all afternoon cleaning pens and changing summer buckets to winter buckets. Won't have to worry about freezing water now. Got cloudy here but stayed around 53 degrees here. We let all the Aussies out at one time and let them run while we was changing their buckets. Two females got into it but nothing major. They should sleep tonight.

Is the winter buckets heated Mike? How well do they work? Cost a lot to operate?

Posted by Mike Milam on 12-19-2011 01:59 AM:

Yes they are heated. They cost hardly nothing to run. They come on at a certain water temperature only. I think it helps the dog to drink more water to cause it is heated. Like running a light bulb. Dollar amount I don't know.

I take it you couldn't get anyone to go huntin tonight?

Posted by bigtimberkennel on 12-19-2011 11:32 AM:

Good mornin' all.........rain's a comin' for next 3 days.

Posted by Mike Milam on 12-19-2011 01:12 PM:

TD I couldn't get anyone to go. Either that or maybe they don't want to mess with a old man. It sure is windy out there. Have a herd of 14 deer in the pasture. It sure is warm so I guess the rain is near. Oh well can't stop it. Hope everyone has a nice day. Morning Linda.

Good Morning all, Sorry you didn't get to go hunting!!! Got a buck yesterday to breed does he is a nice one. Went to check on them this morning and he already only has one thing on his mind. Decorating some bird houses this morning for next spring. Td had to work today so he's hoping this is it but we'll see! Chuck how is your Alaska thing going or did you already do it?

Posted by chuck west on 12-19-2011 04:30 PM:

Linda how many goats you have now? Are they easy keepers or you have to feed them all year around?

Mike this makes 5 but when we are done with the buck he goes back to the guy we got him off of. In the summer they aren't too bad because they have pasture still feed them pellets once a day just so if they would get out or something they will come to a bucket. In the winter have to feed pellets and hay. This year I got me a pair of cleats for my boots so if we get ice I won't be busting my butt going to feed. We should be having babies in May if the buck does his job in a hurry.

Posted by bigtimberkennel on 12-19-2011 10:36 PM:

Rain and a little breezy........most likely no huntin' tonite.

Posted by chuck west on 12-19-2011 11:16 PM:

LOL

Hey I'm editing and finalizing some of my video disc's so i can post some of my pics of Alaska and you wont hear much crunching on my videos ,,,lol

Posted by bigtimberkennel on 12-19-2011 11:51 PM:

Bring 'em on, will be different. With no crunch , LMAO

Posted by Mike Milam on 12-20-2011 01:38 AM:

Linda goats take five months to have their babies? At least it will be warm by then. Do you put them up when they start having them or just let them have them right on the ground? I would like to see and hear a video with no crunching. I will be waiting for the video.

Yes they take 5 months. If they have had kids before with no problems and it is warm out they have them outside we have huts in there lots they can go into if they want some do and some don't. If they haven't had them before we have pens in a building we put them in to make sure they have no problems giving birth and to make sure they accept there babies. First timers sometimes turn around and look like what the heck is that and what do I do with it. I have even had goats that had there babies standing up and just plot them out on the concrete floor ouch!! When my oldest son was little he went to the goat barn with me and a doe was having trouble ran my arm up to see what was wrong told him to go get his dad. He came to the house and told his dad mom needs help her arm is stuck in a goats butt. Thought I would die laughing!!!!
