Tramp11

Got a chance to take Tramp out for a short hunt tonight. Turned him off an ole woods road into a dried up slough. He went in a ways and struck a hot track and moved it on in a couple hundred yrds and locked up treed. I walked in to him and he was treed up a huge oak. It sure would have been a good spot to take some pictures, but I forgot my camera. I think today and tonight were the hottest time of the year so far to me. I didn't have to walk but a couple hundred yrds and I was ringing wet and ole Tramp was not much better of than me. We are both out of shape, but it sure was good to hear him do his thang again. We both couldn't wait to get back to the 4-wheeler and get it moving and get some air.

I think the heat is on all over the country Mr. Jack!! This has been a hot and humid Summer up here in the North also. I am glad I still have the old dairy barn on the farm to raise the Shadow and Hammerhead litter. It is usually 10-15 degrees cooler in there this time of the year.
You take care there are cooler days to come,
Scott

Sheba 11 and Sue

Sheba 11 and Sue

Bobby and Sue came down to hunt with me and Sheba last night. Can't remember when I have had a more enjoyable hunt. The coons seemed to be moving pretty well. We dropped Sheba and Sue off an ole woods road into an oak bottom. They went in about 200 yrds and struck a working track, moved it on down the swamp and circled left and crossed the road that we were on about 200 yrds farther down and started moving the track faster. I told bobby they were headed in on a real thick branch and that they would probably lose the track, because the two hounds were both les than two years old and I had seen seasoned hounds that could not move a coon out of there. Steve I'm pretty sure that this was the two hour Bandit and we did not have the power this night to run him in there. They worked and did their best, but just could not unravel this track. We let them work in there for a while and they came close to a road and we caught them and moved on down the swamp. We cast them into the Sunken swamp and they went in about 300 yrds and struck a fair track and moved it on down the swamp and crossed out of the Sunken swamp and a woods roadand on into some Hedge Bushes and treed. We walked in to them and they were treed up in these hedges and the coon could have went anywhere from there. We shined for a bit and then leashed the dogs and came back to the house and headed to the river. We turned them loose on a running branch and they went in about 100 yrds and struck a good track and came back up the branch toward us and tree about 50 yrds in front of us. We walked into them and they were treed up a medium sized hardwood tree. We shinned the tree, but if he was there he wasn't looking. He could have been there, but I really think they just missed him. We loaded up and headed on down to the river and turned them up a dry slough. They went in about 150 yrds and struck a good track and moved it on in about 200 yrds and treed. We went around and came into them on anther road and rode to about 15 feet of the tree. They were treed on a big muscadine vine.(the one in the picture above) going up into a large hardwood tree. Bobby found the coons while I was taking pictures. I think there were two or more up there. Probably a sow and kittens. We left them to run again and called it a night.

Two Mile Bandit

Mr. Jack I will shout at you this week and come your way for a hunt one night and see if Bo and Tramp can put Ole 2 mile up a tree. Bo and Bob put Rocket up tonight but Fate was with him and he jumped again and put that hog wire fence between him and them and made his escape. Bo was some kind of Mad when I hooked him up to go home! Last week I couldn't get on a decent track but this one was red hot right at dark so hoping this week coon treeing will get better. Talk to you Soon.

Smoke

Posted by Misty river on 08-23-2016 06:47 AM:

Smoke

Took Smoke out for a run tonight. He hadn't been out in a couple of weeks. Turned him off an ole woods road into an oak bottom. He went in about 900 yrds and I had went around to get closer. He started a working track and moved it out and got it to running moving north west and made a circle and came back south east and I knew where he was headed. A 50 acre cut over and I mean bad. If I had time I would have cut Smoke off before he got in there, but I knew I didn't have time for he was really pushing that coon. He was pushing him hard in the cutover for a while, but it began to slow down. The coon just wouldn't leave out of there. He would get close to the edge and I would think he was going to leave the cutover and he would cut back into it. After about 45 min. in there Smoke came close to the edge and I got him out of there. We went on down to the sunken swamp and I turned him in there. He went in about 200 yrds and hit a fair track and moved it on in about another 150 yrds and treed. I walked in to him and he was treed up the small tree in the picture above. I walked in there and shined the tree. I told Smoke, ole boy you have sure missed this one, aint no way there could be a coon up there, not even a little one. I was fixing to leave and I thought I would take one more look. and then I saw him about 3/4 of the way up in a little fork, laying flat against the tree. I didn't really want to shoot it out because I thought it was a small kitten coon or a small sow coon, but Smoke had not had one in a while so I went ahead and knocked it out. It was a big boar coon. We made our way back to the 4-wheeler and called it a night.

Sheba 11

Took Sheba 11 out for a run tonight. Turned her down a running branch and she went in 200 yrds and struck a pretty good track and moved it on in another 150 yrds and treed. I went around on another road and she was treed about 20 yrds off the road. She was treed up a pretty good sized oak. There were other trees around that made it hard to see. It had a couple of vines in it and I walked in and shook one of the vines. I walked back out and I saw him walking out on a limb on the other side of the tree. I walked around on that side and it was too thick. I didn't see him again. We left him to run again and moved on down toward the river. I turned her up an ole dry slough bed and she went in a couple hundred yrds and I could tell on the Garmin that she was trying to work an ole cold track. It was to cold for her to even open on. She came back after a while and we loaded up and was going to call it a night, but I decided I would try one more place over by one of my deer plots. I turned her loose at the back side of the deer plot into anole slough. She went in 200 yrds and struck a working track. She moved it out pretty good and moved it on in 400 yrds and treed. I got to about 100 yrds of her and walked on in to her. She was treed up a medium sized hardwood tree(the one in the picture above). It was so thick around it that I never could get to where I could see anything so we walked back to the 4-wheeler and called it a night. It was sure hot out there tonight.

Looks mighty good Scott. If the pups take after any dog in that Pedigree they will be good ones. Take care my friend.

Mr. Jack,
I agree this should be a nice cross. Should be a Winter litter if it all works out.
Take Care,
Scott

Took Sheba 11 out for a short run last night. We didn't stay long, because I had some other things I had to do, but I just wanted to hear her tree one, and she didn't let me down. She went about 200 yrds and just come treed. I just sat there and listened to her for a little bit and then road around on another road and walked in to her. She was treed on a medium sized hardwood with a lot of vines in it. I saw the coon a good ways before I got to the tree. I walked on in to her and petted her up some, Leashed her and we called it a night.

Posted by Misty river on 09-05-2016 02:36 AM:

Sheba 11

Took Sheba 11 out for a run last night. turned her off an ole woods road. She went in 200 yrds and just come treed. I walked in to her and she was treed up a large oak. I shined for a few minutes, but I never could get him to look., so we walked back to the 4-wheeler and moved on down the swamp. Turned her into the sunken swamp and she went in 250.. yrds and struck a real cold track. She moved it up a branch. I could tell on the Garmin that she was working a track, but it was too cold for her to open on. She worked it on up the branch 100 yrds and bumped a tree, but I could tell she wasn't right. She only hit it about three times and got down and ran back to where she had started the track and went about 50 yrds and really loaded up on a tree. I waited a little and walked into her and she was treed up another tall oak. I never did find a place to where I could see the tree good and I never did see anything. We walked back to the 4-wheeler and called it a night. It sure was hot.

Thank you Scott. I enjoy hunting Sheba 11. She puts her heart into it. She tries to work tracks that are too cold for her, some of them I wish she would leave alone, but she'll be fine, just needs work. Cooler weather is coming and that will be better on both of us, mostly me . Take care Scott and good hunting.

Tramp II

Mr. Jack has allowed me the privilege of having Tramp II up in Wisconsin. With the help of some good friends this was able to happen. I hunted with Tramp II a couple of years ago and was impressed with him then and it was a pleasure to hunt with Mr. Jack also. Tramp II will always be Mr. Jacks dog in my mind.
Tramp II is a good looking dog with a personality only matched by my Creek Female. As shown before earlier in this post. I intend to continue to hunt both Tramp II and Creek and breed them when the time comes. I feel very blessed by this opportunity and can not thank all involved enough for making this happen.

Thank You,
Scott

Thanks Jack for letting him bring such a well bred hound up to our area. This will make it alot easier to breed to him when the time comes & have all the great blood to use in our area. I know it took years to put this pedigree together. Take care, Ron
