Blitz

Drake got him a new dog. I had Blitz a few months ago and had him treeing his own coon. I let two young guys have him and they hunted him hard for a few weeks but soon fizzled out. Drake has him now and we gone put some hunting on him. Big , loud Good looking hound. He is a littermate brother to Cotton. We also have Twister that is a brother to them as well. Twister hasnt been fooled with much and needs lots of attention. May just let someone have him that is willing to spend the time he needs.

Hunt

Boy this coo hunting can have you on cloud nine one day and down in dumps the next. BB and Cotton have been looking really good. Both won their cast in mini slam Friday night and looked liked coon dogs. Went last night and they brought me back down to earth and reminded me they were dogs. Lol. Turned Cotton, Blitz, and Matt smiths gyp loose. Blitz struck, Dixie , then Cotton. Went about 175 yds and Cotton located. Treed all dogs there for a total of about 4 minutes and pulled the roots and left. Finally got treed later on den and Dixie and blitz split. No coon seen. Turned bb , Dixie, and blitz loose next. Struck track moved it good. Bb located then moved. She normally don't do that. Dixie treed up small tree. No coon. Bb and blitz tree. Get in there and it is a hollow tree laying on ground. They treeing up in it. No coon seen. Try again another night.Keepem lookin up. Darren.

dont let it get u down just remember this the cream always rizes to the top if you will shake the jar its the same way with the trooth it always rizes dogs r gona be dogs it takes alot of shew lether and swett and cold rainie nights to make a top of the line hound it was good talking to you lastnight il be in tuch good luck and may god bless you and yours

Handler

Looks like I lost my other handler. Drake's male Blitz really lit up the tree the past couple nights. Looks like he will be putting him in some hunts. Man he is a big, good looking hound with a monster mouth and locate. Hope he wins with him. He is a brother to Cotton. He is putting him in a ACHA hunt at our club Friday night. I guess i will be going to Reform to a UKC hunt. Need to get Cotton finished if i can!! Keep'em Lookin Up!! Darren

hunt

Turned Cotton alone first turnout last night, she went 600yds and opened a couple times. Drake and I drove around to get closer and she was just bumping around on bad track. She drifted on in about another 400 yds and loaded up and treed right. We got in to her and she had coon up a poplar tree. Next drop I turned BB and Blitz. They went 175yds and hit a logging road and I went around and caught them up. Came back to bottom and turned Cotton loose. She went left and at 100yds struck a good track. This coon was a visitor and was going home. Cotton was joined by Blitz , her brother and they ran the fire out of that coon. After about a mile thru the swamps he headed for the other side of the bottom where the pressure just got too great. Cotton loaded up and Blitz backed. Got in to the tree and that coon was nervous. He was running around all over the tree and soon made a bad decision to climb down and jump out. Cotton made quick work of catching him on ground and got some help from Blitz on finishing him off. Rolled in at 1:15 Am and Got up a 5:00 am. Got to love it. Keep'em Lookin Up!! Darren

Rain Rain

Dog gone this rain. Headed to reform tonite. Looks like another one of them rough rainy nights. Got soaked last week in the mini-slam, probly be the same tonight. Supposed to rain tomorrow night too!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL BLUETICKERS AT THE HUNTS AND SHOWS THIS WEEKEND!! Keep'em Lookin Up! Darren

Hunt

Well bout to put Cotton in her kennel. Been to reform. She done good but couldn't get a break. First cut got first strike and two walkers started mopping a track. Cotton kept skipping out deeper. Walkers tree but one leaves tree. Circle. Cotton loads up deep. Get to her and she is on big oak. Can't find my coon. Next drop take durst and third on cedar tree. All three dogs there. 17 mins to hunt turn out. Take third strike and hunt runs out. 1 min and 12 sec after hunt Cotton BLOWS up a tree. Coon seen. CRAP. Couldn't get a break. Other reg casts no coon seen. Would have had another first. Darren.

I know it Myers. It did make me feel good about how she operated. Every track we struck was cold and she showed them walkers how to skip out and get treed. Needed two minutes more and would've had another dang first on Cotton.

Hunt

Drake hunted in an ACHA hunt Saturday night. He hunted Blitz and done OK. He got beat but had to judge the cast. This was the first time he had to Judge. He said he was distracted from handling his dog , trying to keep up with other handlers calls and the time etc. I have to judge at every club I go to so I sure know what he means. It is a disadvantage sometimes to have to Judge the cast. Every one else can concentrate on calling thier dog but the Judge has to concentrate on time, calls, and his dog!! Makes things fun!! Going to Good Springs to UKC RQE hunt this weekend. Keep'em Lookin Up! Darren

HUNT

Went for awhile last night. Turned cotton alone first drop. Cotton struck ina t about 100yds and started working a good track. She got in the bottom about 600 yds and we drove around. She gave a half-hearted locate, but checked and moved on down bottom. Another 200yds and she hit the tree with that big screaming locate and it was all over. Got in to her and she was on a huge oak tree in a pine thicket. Backed off and started looking, Drake shook a vine and he finally looked at us. Cotton did a great job getting him treed in all that water. She is becoming very consistent night after night. No foolishness, just get gone, get treed and have a coon. She turns 2 next month. Next drop turned BB and Dolly loose. BB struck hot track and Dolly put in with her. We were standing in bottom and coon came by us. He was about 30yds ahead of dogs and they were really coming on strong. Ole coon hit the hills and made a few circles. Ended up going in ground as they were really putting pressure on him. Neither BB or Dolly wil stay in ground as they have had the Dillar treatment!!LOL Keep'em Lookin Up!! Headed to Good Springs this weekend to a RQE. Darren

Hunt

Went for a couple drops last night. Went by myself as Drake had some end of year studying to do. Turned BB and Dolly loose first turnout. BB struck , followed by Dolly. They got the track up and going and was putting pressure on coon. He headed to a culvert that crosses under highway. I walked around and turned him back down bottom and he went 300yds to the next culvert and they lost him. I got a few locates and both came out to me. BB and Dolly know better to tree in a hole of any kind. Second drop I turned Cotton loose alone. She left hard and got struck at about 150yds. Cotton got the track straightened out and headed for a pine thicket. She ran him 400yds up in the hills and loaded up on the tree. I walked in to her and she was hammering the tree. It took me about 10 minutes to find the coon in a huge sweet gum tree but I finally spotted him in a fork. He never would look at all. I am really proud of Cotton, she has become very consistent treeing coons. She is gone be a really nice above average female. I am going again tonite and see if I can get one on a limb. sounds like cotton is coming right along, like the looks of her and bell both nice looking females, You and Drake need to go up to Tim and Paul Vaughn,s in Nov. To the Bunkhouse hunt, it is a blast, and you get to hunt with different dogs from various lines and show your hounds in the woods also, Lot,s of coons and great walking, and we eat good......Gerald

Vaughn's hunt

That sounds like a plan. I really like Tim and Paul's strategy and attitude towards blueticks. They don't cull any line if they think it will improve what they have. They have had alot of success with these old blues. Will definately try to make it to the bunkhouse hunt. Darren

Went by kennel today and Cotton is dripping blood. Dang that is the only drawback to hunting these gyps. Cotton has really been turning the crank and I was planning on taking her to the RQE in Good Springs sat. night. Well I guess BB will get her shot at it. She has been on a roll in the hunts so it ain't too bad. Keep'em Lookin Up!! Darren.
