Quick Stop re: FR dogs winning at the National Level

Illinois Abby- 2006 Illinois PKC State Leader
Granddaughter of Dual Gr. Ch. Finley River Zoom
Billy Jack- Won and placed in several PKC major hunts in 2007.
Greatgrandson of Zoom.
Trap's Finley River Slick- One of the winningest Finley River
hounds of the 90's.
Kentucky River Striker, Pac Man, Handsome Harry, Psycho, What's
Up Doc won a few.

Tar Heel Henry- Won several major hunts in the 90's.

These a few of the Finley River bred hounds that come to mind.

Sky delivered 3 nice blanket back females last evening. There was a nice big male that was delivered DOA. I was hoping for a few more because we had 3 more guys interested but now we won't have to worry about finding them homes. All are spoken for.

Torque is owned by Chris Halverson. Chris and I own the Sky female together. I don't have a real pic of Torque but I'll post his ad. I have some pics of Chris' other dogs that I'll try and post.
From the pic of your dog, he has a real similar head to Chris' dogs. Yours has more white (which I like) than Chris' dogs. The 3 pups that were born Friday are all colored up.
I'm not real sure on the Southern Cross stuff, although I do believe it is some Finley River stuff.

I can tell you all you need to know about the Southern cross stuff. That was my brothers line for many years. I hunted and helped show alot of those hounds over the years. Doogie was out of Southern Cross Briar. Briar was sired by Gold Creek Briar that my brother raised from a pup. Gold creek Briar was by Gold Creek Ace. Gold Creek Briar's Mom was Southern Cross Star. One tough coondog anywhere. She was banjo bred top and bottom. Had the old blood in her. Doogies mom went back on John wades stuff that was in Texas. The commanche bred dogs. All top show and hunt hounds. Hope this helps. I have pictures of alot of these dogs if anyone would be interested. i can try to dig them up.

Finley River Oldtimers and Experts....
How many times does the above pup go back to Ol' Chief?
With that pedigree, would you consider her a "Finley River bred" dog?
How was Johnson's Danny boy bred?
I'd wish I go go back another 2-3 generations....
What about Sugar Loaf Chief? Finley River Dan? Finley River Pete? Finley River Joe? Hook's Kermit? Table Rock Mundo Jr? White River Rick? FR Banjo? Melody Bill? Did River Bend Flag have any Finley River blood?

They are bred pretty similar to most of Chris' stock of dogs.
I know very little about most the dogs in the pedigrees of this line of dogs but from what I've gathered most were well balanced dogs, most of which were never nitehunted.
IMO they seem to be the total package, balanced track and tree hounds with good mouths, houndy looks and solid conformation.
I'm more of a Clover fan myself but I sure like them Finley River dogs too.
One thing we were looking for when breeding Sky was to add more mouth and we got it when breeding to Torque. These pups are only 5 months old but have huge mouths. Loudest dog I've had here. Sky's littermate brother has a big loud, good carrying mouth but Sky does not. I sure don't think breeding to Torque hurt anything. Chris' Torque, Cam, and Sable all have huge mouths. Looks like the Sky x Torque pups will be the same.

My old Gr. Nt. Browns Peggy went back to this cross three times. Once through Gr. Nt. Finley River Joe and two more times through his brother Gr. Nt. Harrod's Ky. River Chief. She was a good balance hound with a cold nose and very accurate. Not a real hard treedog but could move a track good and had a good temperment. One of the better hounds I have owned.
