i know the feeling all to well tom. had my male do the same thing last year first night of season. he wouldnt get away from after that. took him about six days to bark again. lo.l hope everything is ok with her and pups keep us updated.

Thanks guys,Six and her pups are doing fine.They should be here in about 3 weeks.I'll try to keep you all updated.

Coon season comes in tonight at midnight.Gonna try and get after them a bit.The dogs are fed this morning,got a new box of shells,and the truck is gassed up and ready to go.

It's been getting down in the lower 20's and a hard frost on by 10 pm at night the last several nights.I have been treeing several coon but not much for tracks.Our coon seem to be just laying around right now.These patch woods are full of coon and Image is doing his best to thin them out some.LOL.I've been doing some recasting in the same patches with him and his hunting style has changed some,starting to work the timber alot better and not blowing out as bad.Legend was an artist this time of the year and seemed to manufacture coon on the outside.I am seeing more and more of his daddy in him every night and Image is getting pretty good at it himself.


Baby Six is starting to show pretty good.She should be having her pups in about two weeks.Looking foward to this litter,but regreting the time of the year.Would like to be hunting her right now also but I wanted to make this cross as soon as possible.Really looking foward to seeing how these progress.

Thanks Wayne,she's getting pretty heavy and can't hardly get on the tailgate or up in the kennel by herself but I couldn't resist it and took Baby Six for a drop last night alone and give her a coon.She is hard to leave at home but it is definately time.I guess it will be me and Image the rest of this season now.Been treeing several coon this past week with Image.I'll keep in touch when the baby,Baby Sixes get here.

I'm looking forward to getting ole Tommy back out again this week. Little fella is looking to do something when turned loose & continues to progress every night. Harry said he had a good hunt with the Snowball last night, 3 singles, a hole job in a creek bank, & a $hitgig tree where ole ricky had crossed out & was long gone! LOL

I have to tell this story.Its just to funny to not to.

I received a text from Craig one morning Legend can be bought.well about a hour later I received another text from someone else,Cooper bought Legend.

So I sent Cooper a message ,I heard a bad case of distemper and rabies are gonna hit the peidmont area of North Carolina this fall.Craig,replies this is Bad.
Well mean time he s on the phone telling Tom to make sure that Legend is up todate on all his vaccines.
Tom texted me and said cooper bought Legend and he wanted him to take him to the vet and get him checked out and updated on all his shots a bad case of distemper was going to hit the peidmont area this fall.
All I was meaning is Legend was going to put a hurt on the coon population and it would be like distemper had went through the area.Legend sure put a hurt to ours here in western Ohio.Just a little humor and Craig you have a great THANKSGIVING.too funny not to tell.

Baby Six is settled into her winter retreat and ready for her pups to arrive this weekend.I want to thank Danny Eby and his wife for keeping Six for me and fixing up a horse stall for her to raise her litter.They both were excited to get her yesterday.Danny called this morning and said I may never get her back.His wife and granddaughter have taken a liking to her already.


Not been doing much hunting this week with it being deer season.Most of my hunting spots I have the ok all year round.....except the week of deer season.Makes it a little tough but I needed a break anyways.Might try and get out tonight for a few drops and see if we can get anything done.It's been pretty cold and frosted hard in the evenings and a full moon.It is definately blue dog weather in Ohio right now.LOL.

Not a good update on Baby Six puppies.She is doing fine but she only had 3 pups and all were dead when we went out to check on her.Don't really know what the problem was but it's pretty dissappointing.Took her to the vet for x-rays and there are no more in her,so they give her a shot to flush her out and I'll start drying her up and start on the Grandnite title and the PKC State race when she is back in shape.


Very upsetting news but just glad I've still got her healthy and intact.I'll try again maybe next fall.I was really excited about this cross but i guess it just wasn't meant to be this time.She is back at home and doing fine but is still nervous and searching for pups.I'll be getting her out as soon as possible and we'll go from there.

Baby Six is drying up and been hunted a few times.She's a little out of shape but for the most part,right back to normal.Glad to have her home and will be getting her in shape for the spring hunts.

Looking forward to getting him down here. Really looking forward to the Pro Hunt in Walterboro,SC. Ladies and Gentleman Legend is here in NC for your inspection.

Took ride up north last night and visited with the Newland camp.Vern and Kandy both seemed to be doing well and it was great to visit for a while.Afterwords Duane Kehres and I made a few drops.We had a descent hunt and alot of catching up and chatting.
Dogs done alright and we managed to tree one on the outside.It was good to get up there and visit a while with the gang.A whole lot of cold trailing and old tails being told in the Newland kitchen and I really enjoyed the visit.

Tom i sure did enjoy the fellowship last night and the hunt! Merry christmas to you and your family!

Just got in a little bit ago.Clear,cold,and a pretty bright moon but I loaded up Baby Six on the 4 wheeler and made a couple drops.Treed two dens and one on the outside.She has settled way down as she has gotten older and ended up making a pretty nice female.She is a bawl/chop mouthed track dog and uses more mouth on the ground than I like sometimes,but she is really getting the coon treeing thing down to an art.Planning on carrying her with me to South Carolina in a few weeks and maybe hitting a few weeknight hunts the week between the Grand American and the South Carolina Pro Hunt.Hoping to get her $100 won for the Spring Super Stakes while I'm down there if all goes well.

I'm planning on hunting Image in the Pro Hunt and Jimmy Wills' Walker female in the Grand American.Anyone interested in pleasure hunting a night or two the week inbetween,I sure would appreciate it if I could tag along,just let me know.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.It was a good one here for sure.It's good to get together and visit with the extended family and others that you just don't see as much as you wish you did.


Haven't done much the last day or so but push snow.We got pounded with about 10 inches yesterday along with the 30 mph winds made for a long day.I put the blade on the 4 wheeler.Plow a little......play alot all day.LOL.Tonight it is a full moon,a ton of snow,and down into the teens so our hunting is done for a few days.

how long do your coon layup after a snow over there ???? Ours seem to always lay up for a long while before becoming active again.... I always hate to see snow come and mess with coon movements...
