Teaser

Decided that it is just too hot to hunt so stayed in the last two nights. Then last night the dogs started going nuts and I went out to shut them up and low and behold a big sow coon was attempting to raid the garden. The electric fence around the garden saved the sweet corn and the coon decided to find easier pickings some where else. I guess if I don't go run them that they will come to me!!!!!haha
Turk has another pup knockin on the night champion door, Go Getter. Congrats Paul on your second place win.
Doug let Tim handle Froggie and she got her 1st place win last night, congrats Doug.

Catch and release

program going on at the house. Live trapping the heck out of coon that has been raiding gardens and feed sheds. Caught several sow and kitten combos that Timmy and I are relocating. We are taking Lace (GrNtCh Turk X GrNtCh Lucy ) tonight and NtCh Lou as back up. Lace has been really turnning it on with a caged coon and man O man is she loud.

No Rain

here, had a sprinkle and rain all around us. Don't think any of it will do much good as dry as we are.
Pearl is bellyin down should have pups in a day or two. Put a window air conditioner in for her so she wont have to suffer this heat.
Got the paper work back on Smoke's DNA, so he should be listed as a Performance Sire by Sept.
Robin is in full blown heat (day 14), so we are counting down the days to start hunting her again. We are not going to breed her till after we finish her to Grand Night. She has one night champion win, so 4 more to go. Trying to finish her befor she turns two the last of Sept.

Roy,
Glad that you are making Smoke a performance sire, with the pups that are close to hitting the ground and the females booked to be bred I realy think this is a good move. Can't wait to see some little Smokes on the wood. Smoke could be the link! Theres the name for your next stud Smokey Links...........Tim

Got a rain

Had a little over 1 1/2 inches that was needed bad. Temps have backed off a little too.
Robin is going out of heat and is going bonkers wanting to go huntting. Might take her by herself tonight for a couple of dumps.

We got around 3/4 inch this morning. Should make for a good hunt tonight. Troy is planning to bring his neighbors young female, 18 mos old out of Turk x Hillbilly Millie, she is really getting the job done with or without company. Brian Pierson is planning on bringing his young male , Turk x GR CH NT CH Hey Jude) I have been hearing some good things about him. There may be some more Turk pups at the hunt that I am not expecting...........Tim

Been lazy this past week

besides it was just too hot to go huntin. The weather has changed and now it is time to get back in the game.
Consentrating on Robin this week now that she is out of heat.
Headed to Clinton, Mo. this weekend for the Qualifier.

Hunting

has gone really well and the dogs look ok. Robin has her mind back after being in heat and has been doing an excellant job. Last night Smoke and Robin both looked good. Robin treed a couple of easy ones.
I turned Smoke loose in a heavy hunted area and the old dog done his thing and ran one in the beans, pushed him out along a creek and slamed the tree. I was satisfied with the way they both look.
Been at our county fair this past week with our grand-kids. Had a great time but it is too early to be thinking about going to the State Fair and Junior Livstock show for me. They are all excited and have had a blast.

Clinton Hunt

Can't go friday night but I will be there Sat. nite with Robin. Timmy isn't going to make it either night.
Robin has looked good and has been opening good on track. Last few hunts she was in she started getting really tight on the ground and was taking last strike every time. This week she has been opening good as soon as she hits a track she can run. If it's a cold one she still wont open till she can run it though. About 50% of the time she will drift it on out and get it running. The other 50% she looks just like a bluetick and hammers it to death on 20 acres.
Still have the itch to hunt Smoke at the Qualifier but I doubt that even if He qualifies that we would be able to go on to the zones. Money is tight and reailty is what it is.

Hunt

at Clinton did not go well. First two tress we had a dog fight with the three walker males that drew out with Robin. She stayed with them on the first tree but on the second tree she let them have at it and she stayed by herself the rest of the night. She spilt treed once but we couldn't find her coon. Robin ended up with 125 plus and no minus but fell short of a cast win.
Guess you learn somthing new about a dog every time you go huntin. I would have bet the farm that she would have stayed with them no matter what.
Another thing that I learned is that a bunch of these guys that hunt PKC either dont know the UKC rules or they are trying to screw you by mixing the rules. Three different times I had to ask the judge to read the rules on the back of the card to straighten out a situation on the cast.

I know what you mean about the PKC hunters, most of them seem to be hunting dogs that are pretty aggressive and they do try to confuse the situations by mixing rules. I drew out with 2 PKC hunters Sat night and I was the judge. I told them how it was going to be and we had a great hunt, no BS or arguing.......Tim

We had one of those wrestling matches on our cast also. It wasn't a real bad deal but two were getting after each other on the third tree. I had heard a couple little deals earlier but didn't see anything.

Robin must of been a little too close to one of those alligators. Glad she wasn't torn up by some of the junk.

Hunted last night

with the boys. Danny came over with Mo and I took Smoke, we went for a measureing hunt. Kinda compareing the two against each other. We had a blast. Those two are a dangerous team togather. Niether one will stand around and or on their head. Watching them on the garmin was like watching the Kentucky Derby. They would be neck and neck and then one or the other would drift away and take the race from the other one and the next time the other dog would do the same thing. It was a blast. Smoke won out by tying Mo up by hanging Mo's collar on a stob and getting away to tree the coon.haha I wrote on Turks thread what happened.

Morgan (my granddaughter ) showed Barley Ray at Wilton Wi. Family Fun day Saturday and he won. Now we like one more win and he will be a grand show champion . I wish I had more like him, he loves to show and is coon crazy .Can't wait to get more little Mad dogs running round here.

Barley is a good looking hound and has the breeding to do it big time in the woods also. Sounds like Barley has the total package. Get him in the woods and let him shine. For a year old pup he is doing great!
