COLD SOUTH

Thanks guys for the prayers BTW... as for the COLD... I worry more about you guys BIGTIME! We are USED to it here. I HATE it... but I know how to handle it and have the gear etc... Down South I worry so much about the poor and the elderly and of course the critters!
AS for those critters...LOL... I was SO WORRIED about the birds... esp. my little woodpeckers! Since I didn't get out in the PM to fill the feeders I KNEW the woodpeckers would run in (fly that is) for the walnuts! If I had fed in the PM I would have waited till it "warmed up" before I went out I Think?
Was freezing in here... finally decided to check the furnace since I felt more than a normal chill... YUP... it had kicked off and not been on! lol.. Got a space heater at my feet till the house warms up. The furnace has an issue but we can wait while the furnace people service the real needy first. We just have to keep going down to reset it...and we ARE physically able so... we told the guys to get to the needy first.... but BRrrrr! lol...

Cleo, keep complaining away! I will keep sending you all prayers for more NORMAL weather! LOL on the coon dinner and blaming Johnny! Poor Johnny with us gals picking on him lol............

Heather

prayers sent for your friend and family

just seen the weather forcast for next week here in the mountains of virginia...high of 15 on Monday then a high of 20 on Tuesday, think I will be like a bear and hybernate

okay everyone is talking bout eating possum and coon, what about groundhog...my dad said they use to catch a young one and feed him cornbread and sweet milk for a week and then feast. i laughed at him and he said to check the label on the potted meat and vienna sausages I carried with me deer hunting...laughs on me

hope everybody stays warm

Evening Folks

Howdy doody....
Thanks for the prayers everyone. My friend is home now from his surg. had a LONG day and feels like he's been run over by a train basically... but he is on the path to healing! WOoooHOOooo!
COLD... so I looked at the game cam pix from overnite and it was 2 at 1:00 am when the possum was eating marshmellows... BRRRrrrrrrr! Warmed up in the aftn so it was sorta kinda bearable to do chores... BBbbbbrrrrr! It is supposed to be warmish tomorrow, rain Sunday... cool off again next week etc... AND I guess some areas in MA will get a little bit of snow tonight....
AND.. the Drs didn't have results yet on my Mums eyes so we will have to WAIT till Monday! Akkkkk... I hate waiting.

That's all folks........... Heather

"Oysters of the Mountain"

I have not posted a recipe lately! Try this one.

'Ingredients
mountain oysters
flour
salt
pepper
paprika
garlic
cayenne
Preparation
Season the flour with the salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, and cayenne.

If the mountain oysters are large, cut them into bite sized chunks.

Dust the mountain oysters in the flour and saute in a pan of hot oil or deep fry. They should be tender on the inside and crisp on the outside.

Serve with horseradish sauce or cocktail sauce "

Enjoy!

PS... bet y'all little gils didn't know you pick Mountain Oysters off Mountain Oyster Bushes!

Hi All!

WARM TODAY WOOoooHOooo! Was in the 40s! A heatwave! Thank on the heat, Mum and friend prayers! Friend doing well but belly sore...bet it is!
Mountain oysters... Not today thanks... lol...
Of course the heat works fine today! LOL... It is really simply making us remember to go to basement and hit reset if we want a HOT shower or... if the house gets suddenly cold...

Reb, Hoping you dont get that ice storm. IT is SO much worse than snow! ALSO... perhaps the slow work it being sent your way so you don't push too hard and get hurt again? Always a reason...we may not always know is all. Praying for you to get thru the slow spots...
Kelley, congrats on your doe!
wbond, Love the pix and dawgs!

Tomorrow is supposed to be RAINY...Yuck! I'll be in the house avoiding it!
Stay warm, safe, dry etc! HappyHunting Heather
