One thing I noticed on Tailgate adventures was the way one of the guys had his hound trained to 'heel' off lead. That's a good thing. I do think the boy needs to lose a few pounds the way he was huffing and puffing.

Man you are getting me cold talking about that snow and 16 degrees and 18 MPH winds. It's 28 here right now.

Y'all got to crank up the cameras!

HAM BONE AND DUMPLINGS

When all the meat has been cut off the ham bone, you can boil the bone in a pot of water and add homemade dumplings. If you don't want to use the ham bone stock for dumplings, you can use it for the base of bean soup.

RED-EYE GRAVY

After you have fried country ham, there is grease and drippings in the frying pan. Pour coffee into the drippings and stir. You have red eye gravy to serve with the ham.

COUNTRY STYLE STEW BEEF

Cut beef into bite size pieces. Brown beef in a small amount of oil in the bottom of a four quart heavy pot. When beef is browned on all sides, add two quarts of water and a pinch of salt. Reduce heat, cover pot, and let simmer for hours, until the meat is so tender it falls to pieces. Serve meat and broth (without thickening the broth) by spooning it over bread. Traditionally, the bread used is pone bread broken into chunks.

Oh... I'm sorry! You said yesterday that you were sick! It slipped my mind. My better half got something several weeks ago that she still has a touch of. Very bad chest congestion and cough. She had to get a prescription called in to help her and then it took a while. So far I have not gotten it. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

ONION POULTICE

Onion poultices were used like mustard plasters for chest ailments such as bad colds and coughs. The onions were baked and then mashed into a clean cloth while still as hot as the person could stand it and placed on the bare chest. It is supposed to draw blood to the surface of the skin.

i like granny clampetts cold remedy

take a shot of her bottle and in 10 to 12 days you feel better

cold as blue blazes here on the mountain didnt get out of the 20's today

Posted by BIGCASTLEDAWGS on 12-08-2010 12:25 AM:

LOL!

Well... that onion plaster WOULD work... it would keep ANYONE else from gong NEAR the sick person... so the sickness wouldn't spread!

Was LESS chilly here today with less wind... I think it got above freezing... I had a busy day going to the Dr and doing some errands... Then we had a wonderful meal tonight of lamb chops with lemon and oregano, baked potatos and spinach... I'm STUFFED! NOW I"m all warm too...LOL...

Hating to see how much winter is hitting South!! As much as I HATE it here... we are USED to it...

Kelley... The first snow of the season here always brings out the morons who seem to have NEVER driven in snow and ice... I DREAD the MORONS in SUVS and trucks... who think that 4 wheel drive means they can FLY on the icy high ways.... DUH!

Everyone with COLDS... Get well SOON! And be CAREFUL in the cold if you and your critters aren't used to it!

Heather

I guess there'ssome kind of a way you can"own stock" in a company you claim to own and dreampt up; for example the Internet. Now that right there proves how Big a Fool a Big Fool can be. That right there, ought to do it. But, there is these "followtails" very few understand. Then , there is the "Green" companies he started with more of that shuck and jive.

I got on a rant about the Krebs cycle and a lot of folks think I am crazier than Al GORE. But have you done a search of Krebs Cycle? Huh , what? If you just want to B and moan about his stupidity, go ahead. But if you want to know why he realy is an idiot, go ahead and look it up.
