morning everyone, snow is about a foot deep and steadily fallling, high winds, wind chill has it down to the low teens, if not lower. i am really glad we brought the pup in for the winter, sort of,lol, he wakes me up every 3 hours to go outside by whining. he will run right back into his crate which is good. he learns really quickly. everyone stay warm.

Watched the show! I could only wish for Golf-Course-Hunting like that. 6 coons in 20 minutes! Man one of them fellas shot his magazine empty twice at a coon in plain view. Heck I don't think a guy would even need a dog to coon hunt there. Probably could take a light and get a truck load any night. Point your finger at a tree and sick your mutt and pop one out for him. It was a nice show anyway. Got to see some dogs tree and all.

GRAVY

Now if I give you a recipe for gravy, you'll have a complete depression meal that many a mountain family has survived on in the past.

Many people associate gravy with meat but while grease is an essential ingredient, it's all you need. You can save your bacon grease and make gravy from it. Many old timers made gravy just from lard.

Heat about 4 tablespoons of bacon or sausage grease in a cast iron skillet over a medium heat. When it is melted, add salt and pepper to taste. Stir in about an equal amount of flour and blend it so there are no lumps of dry flour. Continue until this mixture bubbles. If you cook this mixture longer the gravy will be browner. Add one and a half to two cups of sweet milk slowly, stirring continuously to prevent lumping. Stir the gravy with a large spoon so that the backside of the spoon is rubbing the bottom of the skillet at all times. Make sure you stir all areas of the bottom of the skillet to prevent sticking. When it gets as thick as you like it, remove from heat and pour over "soppers."

Brrr......... been a chilly one for EVERYONE today! You guys have it worse... when you're not used to it. Was about 21 to start today. Had Bob put Web in the house till I was ready to walk... and I did my CHILLY chores... cursing all the wild birds I was feeding... Had a nice walk with Web... but he was ready to go in quickly...lol... The wind was whipping up his butt going and up his nose coming home... he was not amused! Got inside... he was a pill until I brought kitty up to visit...LOL... I lay down under a couple blankets, Tigger settled on my belly and purred... felt like I had a personal heater and it was AWESOME! Cats DO have purpose
Hmm... WOnder how the Pats and Jets will feel catching footballs and taking hits etc? lol... The poor fans! Akkk....

LOL...I DO cover up well! Had my face cover on this aftn... had a few inches of face exposed... and I STILL wanted to close my eyes...open them... and smell SPRING! SHIVER! I hate winter!!!!!!!!!!!!
