What do you guys think about this cross?

On my way home from Autumn Oaks, I picked up a Nite Champion female directly out of Roy x Cindy. She was butterball fat and hadn't been hunted since early spring. I've been hunting her hard and I like everything about this female. I plan to finish her to Grand Nite, then breed her in the Spring.

I have messaged Brian Gibbons and Mark Guettner asking their opinion about breeding her to Max. Both stated it should be an excellent cross. Not only will this cross double up on Roy, but they will have two shots of Nite CH Long's Hardknockin Tammy.

I tried to contact Stanley about his opinion via PM, but his inbox is full. I am sure he is really busy this time of year, so not being able to reach him is understandable. Anyway, here is what the cross looks like on paper:

I've hunted two daughters of Roy (GR NITE CH Turman Creek Little Red and now Nelly) and I've liked them both. Nelly goes hunting hard, strikes quickly, opens plenty on the ground and is one of the hardest treeing females I've ever unsnapped. She is a slobbermouth tree dog with a loud mouth you can hear a long way. I wouldn't mind to get the same package in a pup as I have right now in Nelly.

Here is a pic of Nelly. I think she looks a lot like her daddy, Main Street Roy.

Dang Freddy I like the looks of that cross. On the very bottom of NELLY'S papers is INDIAN RIDGE CINDY, the cross that produced CINDY also produced 2 or 3 other GRANDNITE females ( I can't remember for sure ) and also produced a NITECH. that had four wins toward GRAND and for whatever reason the gentleman that owned her quit competition hunting. I absolutely love what I've seen that was either out of TAMMY or grandpups to TAMMY. I wouldn't be surprised if this cross produced a WORLDCH. Good work Freddy.

My uncle Carter Long owned Longs Hardnocking Tammy. I hunted her many nights by myself as a young teenager, she's the reason I fell in love with English dogs. Bar none she was the hardest tree dog that I ever hunted. We would turn Kim, Tammy, and Hawk loose together and walk to three different trees. All three were super independent hounds. Kim produced many good hounds also.

I would have loved to went on a hunt with those three. Your right about Kim producing. Bred to Virginia Swamp Rooster, she produced Swamp Cat, Ashley's Red Cloud and the Rose female that won so much and produced extremely well too.

The English hunters of today owe a big thanks to your Uncle for a lot of today's winning hounds.

Freddy your number got erased at home , my cell is 606 356 6472 give me a call on it when you get a chance. I have just hunted with Cindy and Max that are out of Tammy and what I like the most is they dont just run around making circle trees they have coons in them, thats a must if I hunt them.

Stanley, our RAVEN female scored 525+ at the KENTUCKY STATE HUNT, she was HIGH SCORING ENGLISH and HIGH ENGLISH FEMALE, she missed getting in the FINAL FOUR by less that than 50 points. Her Momma won 2nd. We were darn close of having those two in the FINAL FOUR together. Still proud of her though. Look forward to seeing you at the MAX HUNT.

Stanley Nichols and Carter Long have forgot more about breeding to produce good balanced hounds than most of us will ever know. I had the pleasure to hunt many nights with Carter and my other uncles who hunted dogs out of Fields Crickett, Kim, Tammy, Rose, and Molly. I wished I could go back in time and turn them old hounds loose again. It was a true pleasure to have learned from the best. I still hunt a female out of Molly and Powers Red Cloud that is a real pleasure to hunt.

Sugar ridgeline I really feel blessed to have had the dogs I have hunted , some I bought , some I raised, but I found out a long time ago you gotta love the hound the you are gonna spend the rest of your life with , you cant be a flip flopper. Goals are hard to achieve takes alot of dedication.

I agree with you Stanley. I have never owned a dog that didn't go back to Carters line of females. I guess I'm just stuck on them. They have always been reliable and dedicated to please the handler. Not all of them made it, but the ones that did were always pretty nice hounds. I guess it all goes back to having confidence in what you have snapped to the end of your lead.
