We hunted Lastnight.Coon didn't move near as good as I would have thought.Treed several dens with one on the outside.All the good tracks went from one den to another.Them rutting coon must smell good cause the young dog was cranking.

well I told you about my pup dave less than 6mts old when season came in 8 mts now. treed about 71 alone didn't kill them all. that was with limited hunting couple hrs I would take her home. I left plenty for us this coming spring and summer.

Killed 62 with a 1 year old. Didn't hunt real hard or in the bad weather. Pretty happy with him this season, really grew up a lot

only hunted a few nights, killed 9 I believe and left a lot sitting, didn't even take the gun some nights

Ant got no impressive numbers here.I didn't hunt near as hard as I usually do.Best dog didn't hit the woods till the middle of Dec due to pups but she went to treeing coon like usuall.My young dog didn't step it up like I expected but still treed coons every hunt.Im gonna push harder now that season is out.

Ended up treeing around 100. Many less from last year and the year before. This was a horrible year as far as the weather. 30 degrees and cold and full moon for the first week of season was sure to make it a average year. There wasn't a night I went that I didn't look at coon but I stayed home more nights then I went this year. Gas is to expensive to waste on a bad night.

Been following your post all season REALLY enjoyed your posts and other fellas too. Same thing up here you just have to roll with the weather man you did awesome tho! My young Roxy female really turned it on for her second season! I could not have been happier. Showed me a whole bunch of coon and got her share of fur in the mouth. Took a few nights and hunted with friends and hunted the majority by herself. I want to thank Hoosier Man, Jackson87, Doug Adams, B Humphrey and the rest of the Ohio Coonhunters that added to this thread. Some night during a coon season some of us could get together and and go out for a pleasure hunt and bring a couple down also! Thanks guys until next year and have a great off season. Ron Jackson

Well said Ron. I was new to this forum about half way through season. I hope to continue using it through next year. I also enjoyed seeing pictures and reading how everyone else did. A pleasure hunt would be fun, if anyone is in or passing through NE ohio more than welcome to stop in.

For what its worth what did everyone get for their hides? I got $15 a piece for skinned coon. Be able to buy couple bags of feed with it!

I don't collect hides but my hunting buddy said he only got $7 average for skinned coon.Id say these coons down here are smaller than those northern coon.

We didnt Tree as many as I thought we would this year. We hunted hard, but we must lack dog power! Lol

I sold my hides to Rick Campbell, he is from Malta Oh. he comes up here 1-2 times a year, my father in law got him in the business years ago. He likes to buy our coon to mix with his stuff. Trevor next year if you want i'll get ahold of you and you can bring them up, we meet at Bert Oney's house and he buys there. Plus we have a great time listening to Bert tell many stories!

Sold twice if I average the two together I averaged about 12.50$ killed 70 this year probably Treed around 130 tried to let the little ones live

Sold 29 coon on the carcass, early through mid season got $16 for large. January they dropped down to $13. (Hanneman Furs ,Kalida OH) Glad we don't do this for the money. MAW

Hunted tonight for a bit.1st drop track sounded old and cold.Ended in a den.2nd drop track crossed the road and dogs almost got run over.Coons don't seem to me stiring much round here.I told my brother on the way home them coons got to be hungry and if I was a coon I'd be eating outta somebody's trash.Just a few minutes later on the side of the road there was a big Ol coon on top if a trash can having a feast!

That sounds good. Going to probably sell to the auction this year and see how it goes.

She pushed this coon and treed him on a little tree. He's lucky it wasn't 5 days ago! Lol

Season....

I hunted in Montgomery County, Ohio (Southwestern). I never got 15 miles from the house in any direction this year. I tried to plan my dumps so as not to spend much on gas, and it worked out pretty good. I tried to hunt more this year then I had in the past 5 yrs. Weather and my job always seems to slow me up some! LOL!!! I mostly hunted my 7 yr.old Jet dog (GdNtChGdCh Cedar Run Jet Latch X Eby's Twin Creek Mary Jane) and my 4 yr old Rose female (GdNtChGdCh Neosho River Rudy X Ch Eby's Twin Creek Singing Doll). I hunted them one at a time. Never got skunked one single night, but I didn't go on the real bad ones. I ended up with 65 decent hides. Nine doubles, (but only took one per tree) and seen about 20 others, either on the way to or back from getting the dogs. So I guess I SEEN around 94 coons total. Not a record for me but not a bad year! I averaged $13.00 on them. No big money but it did help out for Christmas this year!!! Good hunting to all in this new year!!!

Congrats Darren, I'm not sure what part of Ohio you are from but down in these hills one of my measuring sticks is how many nights you get shut out. When a hound preforms night in and night out treeing at least one coon on the outside, usually indicates to me you are packing a pretty nice coon dog!! Good Job!!
