Hunted Bluspek up on Cowie road. Had to go deep to get something started coon didn't seem to be moving too good early.

The first tree these two fatties were low in the tree, looked right at me and seemed small so left for next year.

Tree two was a den.

Nice boar in tree three

Lot of feed all coon I have killed loaded with fat still trying for that 30 pounder! LOL

He loves to go and is a dream to handle just I overdid it a couple nites and he came up lame in the front right leg. After opening nite he was limping again a bit so I'm only hunting him every other night and trying to take it slow getting him in shape . I know your Dad loves this dog I can see why!

Saturday Night hunt

My partner Paul and I hunted Warren Goodenow's farm up on Keeney road outside of Warsaw tonite. Warren has had trouble with coon getting into the pig and cow feed barns. Brought the coon back to my garage to skin. Had some great cornfield chases! A fun hour and half dogs running non stop! In the pic is Paul Buckwald holding my Bluspeck , his Jack pup, and Mainstreet Jacki.

Holy cow Doug! That many coon in a hour and a half! That's a weeks hunting down here! Lol maybe it ain't my coon population,problem might be my dog power or lack of. Nice pic as always and a good post.

Good grief!! havent killed that many down here in 3 weeks of huntin.Shoot we killed two last nite and thought we had a great nite.

Dave we are having a good season and have a good supply of coon. And I am sure you have plenty of dog power we seldem tree that many in a nite!!!We never shoot all the coon we tree but Warren said they were a problem on the farm and Paul and I felt like young'uns again with guns and told Warren we would help him out! We have never hunted there before. He had standing corn and had some good races. First run the dogs struck off the leash and had a hot "run to catch" race in the corn and coon came out next to us we saw it go up the tree Blu wasn't more than 40 yrds behind it that was less than 3 minutes. Paul's young Jack was still in corn runnin and we cut they had three more up the other side in a big willow had them treed in a couple more minutes. Then two more in an tree they winded down the hedgerow cut and treed in an ash with vines. Then Blu went over 700 yrds deep straight North up thru the beech woods we treed a nice dark sow in an apple tree next to a pond. Then rain started we headed back dogs winded and treed two nice coon up in the grapevines on the edge of the haylot and corn. Home before ten!

Treed 5 the nite before left one small coon we could see was small this yrs coon. I hunted Blu alone earlier in week and killed six. Bigger coon are running later. We are blessed to have a good healthy population of coon and hunting them keeps them healthy. We don't have any more dog power than any of you guys just lots of feed and den trees.

I have always told you that you are welcome to come hunt anytime. The Buck pup was here two mos. for training and runnin and treeing and back home to Pa. to tree coon and Mike Casselbury's Hutch dog started real good and doing it after one mos. and 14 coon down to him so he is back home to tree coon for Mike so it's just me and Bluspeck for the rest of the season. Rae wont be able to run till she is dried up off pups but she will get some snowtime hunting later that I love to do.

Would really like to make it up sometime just a matter of finding the time and a few extra $$$. Hours are down at work and with christmas coming things are gettin a lil tight. Storu of my life lol

Glad y'all had a good hunt and big time. Those nights you don't forget and will be stories you and your friend will tell many times down the road. I enjoy looking at all your pics and enjoy the hunts you describe. It's kinda like we get to go with ya right here from the comfort of our homes. Hope you have many more enjoyable hunts to share.

Monday Night

Got out late tonight and hunted big timber...was very windy but a nice 48. Conditions were a bit tuff but Blu grubbed up a couple for me.

All skinned out and both of us headed home for a hot meal!

Warmup Coming

We have been snowed in all week but a warmup coming. We were lucky here only got a couple feet of snow but 40 miles west they were hit with 5 to 6 feet! Hope to be in the woods again by Tues nite!

Bluspeck will have a new young dog to hunt with come spring his grandson Robinson's Speckled Samson.
Pups are now 7 weeks old and leaving for new homes. Showed them their first coonhide this week.

This is Samson on the right.

Pups are nice friendly bold pups'

Saturday 12/6 hunt

It was 31 degrees and spitten a little snow when my hunting buddy Paul and I cut his Mainstreet Jacki and my Bluspeck dog loose on the Dale road woods not far from my house. Dogs struck within a couple minutes and made a long run up out of the woods up a hedgerow to another stand of hardwoods above and came treed. Walking in we saw the coon up in the top of a big scotch pine. Turned out to be a really fat prime boar we guessed to be at least 20 lbs.

Recast and had another long long run thru a hardwoods into some very think brush with honeysuckle and multiflora rose and came treed in an ancient old maple. Coon number two was even bigger we guessed it to be well over 20 lbs.

Cut again and dogs went deep and struck and went in different directions. Bluspeck came treed and had the third coon. To our surprise was biggest of the night and of the season we guessed it to be close to 25 lbs.

Man it felt good to get out after the heavy snows had melted. Dogs were wired to go after being laid up almost two weeks! Here is Paul, Bluspeck and Jacki back at the truck and three large prime boar coon.
