Why is there so much grief about this? What does it matter? If we have cross bred dogs then you guys that have worked so hard to keep your lines pure will not have to worry about us cross breed hunters tainting your lines by single registering a cross bred. It allows us a as to keep our mongrels.
I read one post said I would not buy new ford with Chevy engine. I would if I liked the ford look and the power of Chevy. I know I would if it where a dura max.
Here is my bet and lot will get upset
You start allowing cross bred dogs and u will see them quickly win the world and other large hunts. You will see them quickly become dominant coon treers. Also, I bet the walker fanciers follow a crossbred dog first then an English breeder. They tend to be two groups striving to win the most as a whole not as individual. Then it's toss up on other off colored breeds. Some will most will not.
Just my opinion. I sure wish ukc would let us have a seperate breed. I have a very nice crossbred litter due this week. Maybe they someday can be ukc registered. If not I guess I will have to reg some of them as Black and Tan some as walker. Then I will help out those breeds everyone tries to keep so pure.

I think single registration is either closed all together or the same way in some other breeds also. I like the way pkc has it. If you want to make a crossbreed...they have an option for it and you can be honest about it and compete against the other breeds. I wish ukc would make the same option so people would quit lying and trying to slip crossbreeds into the pure bred breeds....Shane

I hope it happens, U.K.C. could just call them the American coon hound or my be the American treeing hound what ever they call them I bet they call them to the winners circle alot
ering
I have bred top walkers. I have bred coonbred walkers on deerchasers for deerdogs and hog grabbers for hogdogs. It never crossed my mind to think about registering because registry implies , in no uncertain terms, PURE BRED. I shall continue to crossbreed . I have bred a 10 inch feist squierl dog on a 20 inch highbred aristo crat Walker. The act was worth watching just to see how low she would stoop hot but really, who does a cross just to watch? Does that mean they need to be papered? Does that cut out a lot of the girls nurses jawb that works at the Vets to pass on her guess about the background breeding curs? back when, my uncle would go to the Grand American and say " this one has "enough hound in it. And that one there is a coondog. I ax , how you recon dat? He say , Jus look at him for hound. But look in e eye for coondog.
CROSSBREED
You might be suprised what the true ancestry is on the dog you are hunting now. There has been so much paper shuffling and lieing goin on to get them registered its hard to say what flows thru alot of them.
With the crossbreed option all that would stop, and everyone could decide if they want some of it or not. Its not gonna float thru the air and pollinate your dogs in your kennel you would have a choice.
UKC LETS GET IT DONE WITH A AVENUE IN PLACE TO EARN PR STATUS.If a crossbreed meets breed requirments and it is bred back into pr dogs for 2 or 3 generations and those offspring meet breed standards then it earns its pr status. And then folks can decide if they want some or not.
Then folks will see the pedigree and have a choice if they want some of it or not
Dont be afraid of the crossbred dog

That's the prob to the whole thing right there. When will the dog be allowed back into purebred. To say when it's 15/16th is as good as one can get. And that's as good as any purebred reg today. And since that is our problem it seems with not getting this passed, why not just let crossbred dog only get a certification to enter events. Pay 5 more dollars like a conditional entry and make the certificate few bucks higher than registration. I don't give rats rear about papers. Never have. I have owned countless grnt and NT ch dogs plus several PKC winners. I o ly had 2 dogs in my name in my life. So just let us get crossbred conditional entry

I see alot of guys on here wanting to breed back to PR status at some point. I guess that's fine if that's what you wanna do. My plan is to keep Cross-Breeding. PR status isn't as important to me as being able to litter register Cross-Breds and compete in the events. JMO
SHOULDNT BE A PROBLEM

As far as I'm concerned once you have a cross-bred they will always be a cross-bred. If they have three generations of registered ancesters they would then be PR bred cross-breds. They would be a whole new breed called cross-breds and it is where they would be and where they should stay .That is why I say this would help keep the other breeds pure. I see no reason why you would ever want to put them back into some other breed where they don't belong!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is hard to understand about this ?????????????????????????????????

Cross Breeding
Are you people talking about just cross breeding Registered dogs== or bringing in some full blooded unregistered stock to establish a cross breed registry?????

Mr Jones, I think the best way I see to do this, is to only use registered dogs. My idea is to only use the 6 or 7 hound groups we already have in place. For instance, breed a UKC registered Walker to UKC registered Bluetick and get UKC registered Cross-Breds. I really believe more and more people would hunt Cross-Breds if there was an avenue to register them.
