I thought I saw some of your hounds in the pedigree of the above thread. I thought you might be interested. Lance

Thanks Lance.

Yes, it was very interesting to see. I have been wondering where that hound has been. Thanks again.

I am currently looking for Pounder and RC x Jenny quality females to purchase or possibly lease for breeding purposes. If you have one or know of one give me a call please. (618)-553-4754. I am also looking for quality females out of Wild-N-Blue Sissy. Thanks, Chris

Showing some (((( DRIVE )))))

Chris,
The 1st time I turned these pups loose into a patch of woods (below the house) at 12 weeks old, they just disappeared. And the woods are open to where a person can see 250 yards or so. I turned them loose this morning into another patch of woods and they probably went in about 350 yards. No old dog, just by themselves. Maybe alot of "bluetickers" are used to seeing this out of 4 month old pups, but i'm not. I've owned grown hounds who could tree coon, that wouldn't travel much more than that. These pups don't even know what a coon is. So, that tells me they have a desire to "hunt" for something. They don't know what they are looking for, they just know they are looking for something. After all these years of having 6 month old pups standing under foot, I am amazed at what i'm seeing. And I already told you about them treeing on a squirrel in a tree beside their pen. Just makes me happy, and gives me hope for these pups. Thanks!!

Chris

You should take a look at the Peg dog in Georgia. That's the route I would take if I were looking at that blood. There is a thread on the board about her. Lance

Thanks Lance,

I checked the thread out. It just so happens she is exactly what I am looking for at this time. Her breeding is exactly what I have been looking for. However, I seen where she is not for sale. Maybe I can find a sister to her out there somewhere. Thanks for the heads up.

peg

Chris, I owed Peg for about a year. I think I had her here two seaseans ago, might be three. I got her right after I sold Penny. she is a nice dog, I hunted her all kill season that year. I think I told you about her once before. she is a nice clean tree dog. trees hard, no chew no jumping. stand on wood. she worked great for training my younger hounds. she would be a great cross on Jack, and she is close to Mikes take care Dave

Dave, thanks for the info on the Peg female . I have tried to make contact with the owner to discuss a possible cross. Right now I'm just waiting on his return call. Once again thanks, Chris

She looks a whole lot like her top side Grand Sire when he was her age, except for the white on her tail.

I have always heard the further south you go the harder it is to tree and see coon. So, I decided while I was down south I would take a look around in and around the trees for coon or signs of coon. I went as far south as I could. Trees looked a little funny and so did the critters in and around the trees. I guess I went a little too far south.

FUNNY LOOKING CRITTER

FUNNY LOOKING TREE, WITH THE FUNNY LOOKING MEAT IN THE TOP

DECIDED NOT TO GO ANY FURTHER IN LOOKING FOR THE ELUSIVE DEEP SOUTH COON, ALL I COULD SEE WAS WATER BEHOND THIS POINT.

ENJOY

HARPETH RIVER BLUE JACK X COOPER'S BLUE DOLLY

Just got word Mr. Cooper(from TN) that his Dolly female has 8 pups 1 week old today out of Jack. I don't have Dolly's pedigree here , but spoke with Mr.Cooper about her pedigree. Mr.Cooper's Dolly female has some of his old stock of hounds that he has had for many years and tried to keep around. This is what I do know about her pedigree. Topside goes back "Little John's Arkie", "Ranger V", Harpeth River Blue Joe. Bottom side goes back "Ranger V", "Castleberry's Blue Rebel".

I do know some of Mr. Cooper's hounds can be found back in B&D's Blue Spike pedigree.

Harpeth River Blue Joe and Castleberry's Blue Rebel were brothers. Who were out of Uchtman's Blue Rebel X Stowers's Sadie Mae.

davemc,

Yes, I enjoyed the vacation. It was my first time flying in a commercial jet. Although it was fun and relaxing, it is also good to be back home in Illinois.

Harpeth River Blue Jack was bred to a nice female out of Uchtmans Blue Luke X Bull Shoals Purity about 3 weeks ago. Jack will also be bred to McGinnis' Blue Thunder in September, this is a repeat cross that has been outstanding. Cooper's Dolly in TN just had 8 pups out of Jack about a week ago. Jack is a UKC Performance Sire and a PKC Super Stakes Sire that has been producing very nice pups. I proudly and personally own 3 young hounds out of Jack and 3 different females. Their ages are 26 months, 15 months, 13 months, all started in the first few trips to the woods. Pictures can be seen of these young hounds on back in this thread. There are also pictures of several other pups owned by different folks in this thread that are also out of Jack, that are doing very well. Enjoy the pictures, if you have any questions, please call me or PM me and I will do my best to answer your questions. My number is 618-553-4754. Mike Dunn in Cullman Alabama owns Jack and his number is 256-736-3803. Mike is a good friend of mine and I raised Jack.

8-4-12 HUNT

I decided to take a couple hounds to the timber tonight. I took my Bash pup and a new hound I have named Moe. First drop I turn Bash out by himself. He strikes in at 350 yds, then moves the track into the corn, sounds like he has something bayed in the middle of the corn. He then moves towards the creek then to the road where I pick him up. I then send Moe by himself. He gets in 750 yds no bark and works his way back to the truck, we load up and move. I turn them both out together on the last turn out where they go 650 yds, cross a road and fall treed. It was still in the mid 80's. The dogs were hot. I couldn't shine the tree very well. It was a very thick area, I try not to get in, it was hard enough getting to the dogs. I could tell the dogs were out of shape and so was I. Dogs were hot, I was soaked with sweat and it was getting late, so I decided to call it a night. All in all it wasn't that bad of a hunt. Below are couple pics of tonights hunt.

Old pictures

I found some old pictures of some of the hounds I owned and raised. The pictures are taken with the old style camera that you had to take the film in and have developed. I had to scan them to my computer. These pictures are of some tough old hounds. I write and talk about Harpeth River Blue Jack quite a bit on here but don't have many pictures of him. I did find a fairly decent picture of him. The pictures I would like to share with you are of Harpeth River Blue Jack, Jack's Sire(Ambush), Jack's Dam(Rat), Jack's topside Grand Sire(Bullet), Jack's topside Grand Dam(Brandy). Kind of like "putting a face to a name".

I CAN IMAGINE THE MEMORIES THOSE PICTURES STIRRED UP FOR YOU. IT'S NICE TO SIT BACK AND REFLECT ON SOME OF THE HOUNDS OF OUR PAST. MY EARLY EXPERIENCES WITH COONHUNTING WERE MOSTLY WITH HOUNDS FROM THIS LINE. THIS LITTLE RASCAL I GOT HERE AT THE HOUSE HAS SOME BIG SHOES TO FILL TO LIVE UP TO THE LEGENDS THAT MAKE UP HIS GENETICS. I'M GETTING PRETTY ANXIOUS TO GET STARTED WITH HIM. TALK TO YOU SOON.
