Jail house food??? Man that is low!! No, I have never tried Cajun Style boiled peanuts. We just don't know the finer points of boiling peanuts I'm sure. I might try the boil if I can find it.

"Carolina Moon"

Have any of you seen this TV movie? Based on a Nora Roberts novel I believe. Anyway, southern women were depicted quite well in this movie. It came out in 2007 I believe, but I saw it again yesterday. Might be a good one for our 'Northern' guys to see. Another one that comes to mind is "Midnight in the garden of good and evil" ...set in Savannah Ga. Fiction I think but very real in some ways. The ladies for instance.

They are not all "Trailor trash" down here but some are "Just a little on the trashy side" !

MY FAVORITE SOUTHERN MOVIE,

IS GODS AND GENERALS, IT DOES A REAL GOOD JOB AT SHOWING WHAT THE WAR WAS REALLY FOUGHT OVER , SOUTHERN INDEPENDANCE, [STATES RIGHTS]. PLUS IT SHOWS OUR GENERALS[IN GRAY OF COURSE], IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT, AS MEN OF GREAT FAITH IN IN GOD THAT WERE THRUST INTO A WAR THAT THEY CONSIDERED WAS A ''ILLEGAL WAR'', THAT THE NORTH STARTED. IT ALSO MADE MY HOME STATE OF VA. LOOK GOOD[WE WERE THE FIRST LINE OF DEFENCE FOR THE SOUTH], AND IT SHOWED LEE AND JACKSON AS PROUD VIRGINIA MEN. OH AND BY THE WAY BLUEDOGMAN, IT WAS GEORGIAS GENERAL BEE THAT SAID ''LOOK AT JACKSON STANDIN LIKE A STONEWALL, RALLY BEHIND THE VIRGINIANS'' , GIVING GENERAL JACKSON HIS NICKNAME OF STONEWALL. SORRY FOR GOING ON AND ON[I JUST GIT A LITTLE FIRED UP ON THIS SUBJECT]. GOD BLESS YALL ALL.

Your reference to misery reminds me of how some friends of ours tell us that every time they leave our house they are miserable.(I think that it's a compliment) We had us a good ol family and friends feeding frenzy yesterday. (some folks call it a birthday party) Let me tell you brother, when we get together we don't eat, we EAT GOOD!! And then we sit around and wonder what the poor folks are doin. Next time you get one of those jail house meals from NW MISERY, feed it to the wardens dog and slide south for a couple hours to central MO, and then you'll know why they call it MISERY, cause we wont let you leave till your miserable!!

Sounds good man and it's all in good FUN. I would think their are some good cooks all over MISSOURI just not her LOL. Heck my wife could not boil water when i meet her. Would not eat wild game or fish. Now you might hear her say. I wish i had a mess of crappie or some fresh tenderloin and can cook all of it.

That's one I don't think I've seen going by what I read about it online. I will try to catch it if I see it anywhere or see a DVD anywhere.

I hear ya. I recall hearing this local lady say she would never marry again if something happened to her ole man of a long time. Said she had already raised one man... didn't want to have to go through it again!

Missin' you guys!

Last night I fixed beef tips and gravy with rice and fresh corn off the cob, but NOT soaked in butter. Bisquits and TEA!

It was good and I ate too much. I try to go outside and play after I eat, but it was raining last night, so I just curled up on the couch with a full belly.....

Tonight I have promised to fix pecan pie.....that's a whole 'nother thread there.
