Haven't really talked to many people that has done any good. Saw some good ones on the back of a few trucks coming home from Des Moines yesterday when we got close to home.

Had a chance to fill a doe tag yesterday evening but let it slip past without a shot. Kinda kickin myself in the a$$ for not dropping her, using the Hawken since I didn't get anything during early muzzleloader.

Just finished up processing 2 nice big does. Didn't see much for bucks at all. Normaly see a bunch of 2.5 year olds and yearlings but not this year. Saw 4 nice 3.5 year olds that were all nice deer but not 150 so they walked.

We normally see several nice bucks and 50 to 100 young bucks and does but not this weekend. it was terrible only took 4 in two days normally have 20 on first drive. Only saw two nice bucks but they never came close enough to greet us.

Pretty much the same story as everyone else I have talked to. Population is no where near what is was 5-10 years ago. Probably not a bad thing though. Now its time for our DNR to do the right thing and get rid of these extra doe seasons and doe tags.

It shows in the shop too, not getting near the deer hits we normally get.

You know Iowa, so long as people are buying the tags they will raise the numbers every year for the $$$$$.

Ty just started wrestling on Tuesday after I made him and he just got home from his first meet where he won match one 12-5 and then pinned his next two guys in first period. Not bad for having never ever wrestled before except with the old man and his only move was to roll up into a fetal position and play possum.

He needs all of the help he can get. Got stuck three times in next tourney after he was a head in all of the matches. Only knew two moves and was out wrestled.

Maybe we can hook up over christmas break and try to tree something.

Boy and Jiggs put 3 up last nite, of course they took us for quite a walk to get them. Blasted in there 1/2 mile on the first one then got the other 2 in the next 1/2 mile. Had to work late tonite or else I'd be out there right now.

Hunt

Man, it looks like I need to make a trip down that way for a hunt. Our ground hasn't been bare like that since the beginning of December. Expecting to go over 20" of snow before this next storm is over!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Take care, Ron.

Ron, you're welcome to come down anytime. Bad thing is the snow is supposed to be coming in tomorrow, hopefully we won't get as much as they're saying but it still won't be as bad as what you guys got.

I just talked to a buddy back home and he said not to bother coming up to muzzle load hunt. Said the snow amount is ridiculous already and it's gonna suck walking anywhere. Oh well I could stand to loose a few pounds anyway.
