yah its hard to train a dog like her and duke but it will be rewarding in the end if get it done . i believe your real happy now huh. i here old duke been doin well for yah. we,ll have to get together and have a all red hunt. ps all the english are gone SO I,M ALL RED NOW BOY,S!!! i may have got a little teary eyed when cody left lastnight as he was a gooden and i realy liked him alot!!! we,ll have to talk sometime craig , todd

Hi Ed

Heres a pic of a Cur dog doing his duty. My luck with cameras is terrible but this with a trail camera so I didnt have take the pic. Only kind like this I ever saw on a trail cam. There was one of my nephew mooning the camera also. This was a nice little bear that dressed out at 200#

What stock of Cur dogs are you hunting they sure have the grit & most of them can flat move a track.

That is

1/2 plott and 1/2 german shorthair. Fast and gritty. Not a good voice but can be heard a long ways away. Out of 8 pups 7 went to hunters and 1 went as a pet. All 7 turned out and most complained that they were so quick that the other dogs couldnt keep up. They have good noses also.This one was the fastest but Kid Rock who is from Steve Bells dogs can outrun him. Kid Rock was so far ahead my brother thought he was on deer.lol I told him forget that and Kid doesnt run deer. My brother ended up saying holy cow Kid Rock is fast.lol But this Cur can flat out run and has pulled bear out of the tree by himself. Whenever he gets rolled over he really gets mad and bull rushes the bear and tries to knock them over. Hes lucky to be alive. My brother has 2 littermates from this litter and both are quick as lightning. I got your address and wrote it down instead of keeping it in my computer since it crashes too often. The bear dressed out at 200# and looked bigger than it actually was. Me, I hunt Redbones only. I like the others but red is where my heart is at. This was a accidental breeding but we believe in giving all dogs a chance. We took in 3 dogs others were going to shoot and they all turned out great and treed their own bear. I believe that if you give any dog the chance they deserve that they will turn out. Its been since the 80s that we had one not turn out to be very good. I have the patience and time to put into the dogs. The 2 pups I have now I have hundreds of hour in each and they are under 1 year old. I spend time every day with them letting them do their thing. Whether its in the woods or here at home they still get worked with. I believe when people have a dog that doesnt turn out that its not the dogs fault and its their fault for not putting the right amount of time in them. 90% of the time our dogs are bear dogs at 9 months old. The other times the dogs were not quite old enough. One training seasonis all it takes. I have never claimed to train a dog, I just take them to the woods and they do the rest. Start them with a good broke dog and they do the rest. Will see you a week from Saturday. Take care. The pic is the big bad wolf. Not so bad now is he.

Most all them Curs are real fast they can really move I ran then on Bear also yrs. ago.They are as you said quick on there feet & have grit.

I can send you my phone # if you need it about getting here most Garmins bring you rite here to the house.

May be one of these days I'll get that way & kill that 50 pounder.

you can send me your number. Ill probably forget the garmin. I like the Curs and used to have a couple Leps and Mnt. Curs. My wife has a brindle cur here that was left in the woods to die with 2 others. The following summer I had the Cur on several bear and she is a good squirrel dog also. I wish I could catch the people who do such things to dogs. The Cur she has was so afraid of everything and ran in circles. After a couple months here she became alot better and now fits in with the rest. (misfits)Always trash free. Awesome watch dog also. Some day Ill get another Lep. I want a buckskin bobtail one. The one I had put a couple Grand Nites to shame and they wouldnt hunt with me anymore. Ive never hunted with someone to compare dogs but to just have a good time. But theres always some who are offended if your dog is better. If that was the case for me now Id never hunt with anyone.lol My ole pot lickers I have now would probably get put to shame everytime. I stayed home last nite, my back was almost out and its pooring now so Ill rest another day and head back out. I wanted to finish both pups before they turn 1 year but it looks like I might not. They were kicking some butt, but have been acting up sometimes. Ive got time so Im not too worried about them. Take care

just getting things are done around here for the cold weather. Firewood, leaves,ect. Been busy ordering Taxidermy supplies and tools. Got a new big fleshing machine coming. That will make it easiey than using a draw knife. Wanted to order a tanning setup so I could do my own bear and deer hides but will have to wait on that. Also had the house appraised so I can put it on the market and get outta here. We always wanted to build and I always wanted a big pond and heated workshop with kennels attached. This way I can have the taxidermy studio in there and have alot more mounts hanging around. Theres only so much room in a house and I have ran out. Headed to the woods again tonite to keep those dogs happy. Trying out a new GPS and Tracking system I got from a friend. Its all in one. Its named Tiny Loc. If I get it figured out Ill bring it along and show it to you. I dont think its on the market yet and Im wondering how it will work. It is supposed to be able to track 32 miles on the tracker. Ill believe it when I see it work for that type of distance. Ill call you today. When my battery is charged Ill send a pic of the new Tiny Loc GPS system. Take care

Do you want the skull also? If so Ill get a copy of where it sits in the record book to go with it. If I remember right it was tied for 34th or 37th all time. It just sits here staring at me all the time. lol Glad to move the bear and now I can put 3 more mounts in its place. I tried getting out of going for breakfeast next Sat. morning and but I promised my wife I would go. Ive broken too many promises to her over 27 years and have to keep this one. (Her Aunt and Uncle are very rich and she is in the will.lol Besides they are real nice and good christian people.) And it wasnt always my fault. Its those darn dogs fault sometimes. Ill be leaving before noon (before) and should be there by 5 or 6 if I go real fast. Take care! p.s. I tried calling at around 1.

keep me posted it comes in four days and let me no when u comein down to go hunting I was in indianapolis the other day at sporting goods store getting deer hunting equipment I come out of the store to my pickup truck to find out that someone add stoled my dog box not only that I left my tracking system in it how stupid was it on my part never dreamed someone that fast got my equitment and was gone no one saw it mmmmm owell part of life

At the end of end of November should work out ok. Had a rough nite last nite with a porky. Dogs looked awesome till then. Angel cant be hunted for awhile but my buddy Rip is ready. lol My Jabo pup turned out to be the loudest and hardest tree dog i have ever seen. He trees so hard and loud it gets to be annoying. Wait till you hear him. He almost drowns out the other dogs. I headed out to trap a porky (box) and get this porky situation settled once and for all. Im going to use a rubber boot covered in salt to catch one. They love rubber and salt. I dont know why but they are attracted to it thats for sure. Take care.

davecat, that sounds good at the end of Nov.Looking forward to hunting with your hound you wont see any porkys here just alot of slick tails & other junk that everyone has where they live.I've heard they like salt wonder why ? will call you Tom.

oh i,m alright i just got a rotten chicklett !! so i,m not real talkative today. i went to bed early and got a wake up call the old man was out with those plotts and one of his pups got in a porky REAL bad so i got up and went over to help him out. cold air sore tooth not a good mix. i,m takin some pain killers and goin to bed!!

heres

a couple pics of lions treed many years ago in Idaho., Laird Creek area or near by. These didnt get harvested and was waiting for a very big one. Didnt get the giant cat but got some pics. Had a blast and am going to do do it a couple more times before I get too old. The first pic the cat was sleeping and never bothered to wake up. Must have been treed a few times before. The second pic was a keeper but I wanted a bigger one so it would be high in the record books but never got him.lol I like the pic just as much as a rug.
