Should help keep Finly River Blood strong
Hanks honest Abe , Dave Anderson Has made a cross that will intensify our blood line Abes daughter (lion dog) breed to Abes Grand mothers brother Hawk, direct son of Nite Hawk. This will be a great cross .

Yes,Dan was out of Daniels Willie and leftys grandma was out of Daniels Willie too so that gave him 2 shots of Willie. The Jolly female went back to Finley River Chief,Rolling Hills Dan,and Monroes Finley Joe and the Gold Creek Mundo dog. Those were the grandpas in the 6th gen. This ped is pretty interesting and I'm sure glad I got the 6 gen ped on this dog.

Whats everyone think of this pedigree. I don't know much about the dogs after the sire and dam..and does anyone know of any littermates to the Jazz dog??????
My 1st dog had som of the same breeding. I believe one of the females in his ped was a littermate to the Gem female.
Its been a few years so I can not remember everything in his ped.

.................Littermate to Gem??
..............................................
For some reason I'm drawing a blank. I am pretty sure that Babe's mother was a littermate to Gem. I know Babe was a granddaughter to Fin. Riv. Boone.
Terry Willford could probably fill in some of the blanks. Terry hunted with the Joe dog a few times.
I got this dog from Harold Brummer at 4-5 months old. The Freezer dog is still the most natural, early starting tree dog I or my dad have ever seen. He treed like a pro with old dogs the first night in the woods at 5 1/2 months and was treeing his own coon at 10 months old. He wasn't afraid to split tree and old pressure even as a pup, he was a nice lay-up dog, and he could take a tough track and finish it.
From the time this pup was a year old to the time he was 3, I would have put him up against anything. For some reason he started to slip around 3 years old. On a moonlit night, he would either tree lay-up after lay-up or would blow a deer thru the country and get treed slick. I think I put him in a few bad situations and he wasn't nearly as consistent as he was as a young dog. I sold him 10-11 years ago back to Harold when he was 5 years old.
We only bred him to 2 females. I'm not sure if he was ever bred after we sold him. I'd love to find something that goes back to him.
I'm pretty sure that the Gem dogs are owned by William Hanson from Wisconsin..He used to have a website but I cant find it anymore.
Yep, I've seen it before too. I can't find either. I remember seeing the ad when he bred Gem to Skinner.
We bred my Freezer dog to my dad's Nt Ch Trouble female out of Neosho River Skinner X Solid Gold Reba. Those pups were all pretty natural. Most of them went to local hide hunters but a few got spread out. My dad has always been terrible about keeping tabs on where his pups went.
My dad kept a female from this cross that was doing real nice. My dad was getting up on dogs so he sold her when she was still young. She was a nice one.
We later bred the Trouble female back to Freezer's dad, Wild Casey. They turned out nice too.
Dad sold Trouble as a Nt Ch with wins towards Grand.
did you ever hunt with skinner?? if so how did he hunt?
No, I never had the chance to hunt with Skinner. I know a few guys who had and they had good things to say about him as well as hunting with Roger Rickman.

The Borgens Root River Joe dog was decended from Finley River Joe I have had dogs out if Root River Joe. Gem was either out of Finley river Elvira or Finley River Babe I could tell you if I dig out my old papers. I had a male littermate to the Northern Lites Babe dog that I lost to a bursted blood vessel.I get a chance I'll dig up the papers. I believe I hunted with Gem 1 night but sure dont remember what happened.
R.H. ---I hunted with Skinner a few nights, He was a deep hunting dog who I didnt hear much out of on the ground. He sure enough got in there and got treed. I prefered the Finley River Boone dogs over the Skinner dogs but that was my preferance. Roger Rickman is a great guy and knows what a dog is, if you ever get a chance go hunting with him it is real enjoyable.

Been thinking about making this cross, the Boozer Dog and his littermate Cyclops have been making good progress. Both have really loud clear horn bawls but it wont be till end of summer and they are finishing out. This should be considered heavy Finley River and Heavy Bozo.

Dan Sears
Guys,I saw it posted a few pages back that if the Finley River dogs were so good then why aren't they winning now.I Hunted alot of nights with Dan Sears and Nite Hawk and let me tell ya he could still win night after night in the big hunts now.I will go out on a limb and say that had Dan's dear wife and Ryans mom not got cancer Finley River Nite Hawk would have been as popular as Nailor. He was on his way when the illness changed priorities at the Sears'.Dave Anderson has really kept the hunting line alive as has Rick Emerson.

ONE OF THE BEST WE HAD
We had a male out of FINLEY RIVER JACK AND MONROES TREE TALKING MANDY.
He was a great tree dog. Could jump six feet off the ground.
He was a year old and got lose and a coyote tore his back leg off. I would get another just like him in a minute.
he was the best.
