Brutus pup

Took my pup out and ran a few drags with our female yesterday and was pleased. Ran first drag with both dogs across a field about 100 yards and he didnt care what our female was doing just kept his nose on the ground taking it for himself. Barked a little on the tree but not much. 2nd drag he was alone and we ran a small drag about 30 yards and he got that one quick and easy but no tree barks yet. The last one he was more interested in the smells of the woods than the tree but he is looking to be independent at this point. Those were the first drags he had seen since 10 weeks old.

If all goes well we will go back out on Friday depending on the weather. it will be just him for a while until I get a live coon. then we will show him it with our female so he has the reassurance of what he is doing is right. hopefully friday i will get some pictures.

Do you have a video of Brutus treeing? I owned the woody dog off of magic and he also had a good mouth just curious to see how he sounds. Darrin and I have plans to breed my slim shady to magics semen and I'll be looking for a male to cross back one of the females and would consider Brutus. Bruto will be in Ashland for the spring hunt. Let mother nature warm up to 20 or so and I am sure Damon will show him to anyone that wants to see him go. We are going to do all we can to finish him to 4 way grand this year. He is an honest coonhound he just needs to be hunted. Its my fault I was pushing Hooch and he got on the back burner. 2014 is his time for the hunts. Hopefully we will be seeing alot of him in the months to come. He will be in OH till Bluetick days and then he will be back in NY for our comp season.

I snapped a picture of Beaux the other day just as an updated picture. He just turned 7 months in the picture and is 68 pounds. He is probably taller than Brutus already and almost as tall as Hooch. We have knee deep snow here in NY so he hasn't been able to do much for training. we ran drags with him and he had no problem with them he just wouldn't bark at them. He has never seen a coon to this point but will this spring and we will see what he is made of.
