Crow's home in time for Christmas. Karl witnessed two good knots on Saturday and Sunday and put her in with Ben this morning as he ready to go north to the cabin. Should have pups in 9 weeks. Nice talking with Mr. Pattenden of Ontario this morning and appreciate his interest in a pup off Ben and Crow... hope to send one his way in a few months... Merry Christmas my good bluetick friends!

Took Crow for a 3 week ultrasound today to Schultz Veterinary Clinic in Okemas. No pups in the oven. Not happy :-(.

However, Karl Stacer is offering KDS Just Ben up for stud. You can call Karl on his cell at 810-304-4918 or his home at 810-679-3744. $200.00. See the first page for Ben's pedigree. Great coyote and bear hound, throws nice pups that are doing well on bear, coon, coyote and cats.

At home recuperating. Three stints put in my heart on Tuesday. Laying low for now. Good talk with Harry Darby today. Wish I could get one of those pups, but cannot get the young dogs I have now hunted... Keep 'em in the night boys...

Hey Jim, how are you? I have finally gotten wireless. Haven't seen you in years. I hear you are a radio celebrity on the Port Huron channel. Haha. Give me a call sometime and maybe we can go hunting even though we live in different countries. we are only a few miles apart. 519-864-4931

Jim

Glad to hear your health is doing better Jim. That new pup should be able to keep you busy and out of trouble.

Jerry - Yeah, I'm a multi-media star... lol... We need to get together. I've threatening Cal and Scott about coming over for a few years now, but it hasn't worked out. I'll give you a call.

Mike - Good to hear from you. How is that pup you got from me doing? Let me know.

Taking Crow, Trueboy and Ginn out tomorrow night with Cam. Should be a good hunt!

Cam and I hit the timber tonight with Crow, Trueboy and Cam's nice walker gyp Rena. I also towed Ginn (Crow X Slewfoot) to the woods for the first time. We Trueboy and Crow started the night by stretching a possum. Cam put a shell in through its lungs to end it. They took off and Crow had a track while Rena and Trueboy hit a Cedar down in the creek. Didn't find the coon, but Trueboy found a deer carcass next to the tree to gnaw on. Crow quit her track and came in. We then found a coon track in the snow and they hit it red hot!. Rena treed in a mess of pines and Crow and Trueboy were split 100 yards to the west in a huge white pine. Cam couldn't even shine Rena's tree and we didn't find the coon in mine, so we called it a night. Coon were moving put heading for the cedars and pines... rough night for finding meat for Ginn. Here's some photos of the night:

Good night with Cam and Rena. The ol' walker gyp put it on Trueboy some tonight! We made 6 den trees with one split before mustering up an ol' coon in a Norway spruce. Hard to find the bugger, but we got it down for the hounds and the pup Ginn. Here's a photo of Trueboy on the second den tree that he did a me-too on behind Rena:

Had a hard hunt again tonight with Cam. He has his walker Rena and had Trueboy and Ginn. Trueboy and Rena ran a hot first track over 400 yards and it a multi-flora rose thicket with a hole in the middle of it. We finally got them out of there and Trueboy and Rena than split 300 yards apart. Trueboy had a hole near his tree with fresh tracks in the snow going into the hole. Rena had the meat. Dogs were turned loose one more time and ended up 500 yards in the opposite direction from each other. I finally walked in a pull Trueboy off a bad track that he was picking at, but it was time to go home. Rena slicked up on us. Good night, and tomorrow night will be better!

Went out tonight with Cam. Made a few trees, one den, one slick and a Hemlock which was hard to shine. Rena the walker look good, and Trueboy came on as the night went on, and got colder. I have photos, but photobucket is a joke anymore and I cannot figure it out to share my photos. I did let them know my dissatisfaction with the "new" beta system.

trueboy

jim trueboy was a goodlooking pup and has just been gettin better lookin i like your thoughts of that future cross j have a pup out of kid and a tack bred female not for sell a female out of yourcross will be alsome to go with i know it will be a while but hard to wait

Posted by Jim Bartley on 03-09-2013 10:56 PM:

The cross Trueboy is out of - Crow X Ben - is one that has turned out very well. We tried it in December, but Crow missed. We breed her again in June and see what comes of it. I think there are better hounds out of this cross than Trueboy. There is some nice coyote and bear hounds also from this cross. I just got a Kid X Angel female that I think will cross well on Ben or Trueboy.

After talking with Matt Turner tonight about ol' Salmonie Blue Sam, I gave Joe Searles a call. Joe thinks he has one straw of Sam's semen left at Bitzel's and if he does, it's mine. I'm thinking of using it on Brook next year, as she is a granddaughter of Sam... It is only one straw, but god willing we'll get pups!
