Been, working . I haven't hunted much lately. I took Zeus and Dixie out together the other night for a short hunt. Dixie went right handed never made a bark, I caught her on the road. Zeus went left handed made a couple barks and I caught him on the other road. So, it wasn't a very good hunt for me that night. I didn't have time for another turn out. I did see several road coon on the way home that night. While I was out hunting, I seen where I lost one of my hot spots to "Man" and "Machine". With farmers clearing fence rows and small timber sections, along with more and more houses being built out in the country in the timber and Deer Hunters leasing up a lot of ground it sure makes me wonder what coon hunting will be like here in another 10 years or so. "Man" is sure good at making things, but sure seems better at destroying things.

2012 ALL BLUE SHOWDOWN

I would like to thank Riley Floyd for handling Hardware again this year at the SHOWDOWN. Riley and Hardware won the SHOWDOWN last year. Riley and I both are very proud of the way Hardware performed last night. Although Hardware, did not advance to the Saturday night semi finals this year, he did put forth a tremendous effort in Friday nights first round. Hardware lost his cast by 25 points and took the hunt clear to the end. The hound Hardware lost to was Mad dog Smoke. Riley said it was a good hunt with lots of coon treeing action going on in the cast. As time ran out on Hardware's cast the final score on the card as I was told showed Hardware with 925 plus, 200 circle and 0 minus and Mad Dog Smoke with 950 plus, 0 circle and 0 minus. Hardware was struck in the last 5 minutes, then treed by himself with only 10 seconds left on the clock, points were circled and the hunt was over. It was a very close hunt and we just fell a little short. A congratulations is in order for Mad Dog Smoke in winning this cast and advancing to the Saturday night Semi-finals.

I would like to CONGRATULATE John Bishop for winning his Friday night First round cast with SONIC and advancing to Saturday nights semi-finals. Sonic is a nephew to Hardware and is out of Harpeth River Blue Jack X McGinnis' Blue Thunder. Sonic just turned 13 months old today. I raised and started Sonic and I am very happy for John and Sonic . I will be pulling for them tonight. Best of Luck to John and Sonic tonight at the SHOWDOWN semi-finals.

Sonic just turned 13 months old yesterday. I'm not sure how the final 4 turned out, still waiting to here. Sonic is out of Harpeth River Blue Jack X McGinnis' Blue Thunder.

"Rattler" X "Penny" pups

Chris,
I built an extra large pen for the pups.It took in several trees and we live on the edge of the woods anyways.Been seein' squirrels around close to the house. So, tonight i'm on the back deck grillin' chicken leg quarters, and hear a awful commotion goin' on in the pups pen.I see the pups and they are lookin' up a tree.Next thing a few pups walk up on the wood and smell the tree.Letting out bawls and treeing what I suppose was a squirrel. They were born march the 10th. Not bad for pups a little over 3 months.Already tree minded.

That's good news Lowell. Sounds like the pups are doing what was expected of them. Do you have any left to sell. Hope all is well over your way. I haven't done much here lately. I have been working overtime and not had a day off for awhile. Its good to hear from you. Keep up the good work with the pups.

I've still got the male pup that looks like my "Reb" dog.Had origionally thought i'd probably sell him.BUT, the more I see and hear out of him, he'll probably end up stayin' with his 2 sisters for awhile.Good to hear from you as well.

Lowell, I got some news back on that male pup from Penny and Rattler that went to Alabama. He is a good looking sucker and they say he has a very loud mouth already, very bold, nice acting pup. If all goes as planned he will see some Illinois coon this season along with a littermate sister to him. There was 2 females out of Penny and Jack that I recently got back. I was able to place them with a couple different hunters that have them going in the right direction now. It seemed like the pups that were messed with out of Penny and Jack took right off, but the ones that weren't messed with much as young pups are taking a little more time to advance. I believe in starting them early.

I really believe that cross you made on Penny with Cory Mailes Rattler dog is going to be a good one. Like you've said time will tell the tale . I know you have already seen some of the natural ability coming out in those pups. And so the tale of those pups begins. If you get a chance, could you post some updated pictures of the pups out of Penny and Rattler.

Lowell,

Yes, I have been working lots of hours in this heat, it has been tough. I haven't turned a hound loose for several weeks now. I hope to get back to hunting some as my working hours should get back to normal soon(I hope). Send me an updated picture or post it on here of that little female out of Penny and Cory Mailes' Rattler dog if you get a chance. The only thing I have really been able to do here lately was make a trip to TN/KY line to pick up 5 pups out of Harpeth River Blue Jack X McGinnis' Blue Thunder to deliver and dropped off a female to be bred to Jack. The female is out Uchtmans' Blue Luke X Bull Shoals Purity. You know anything about the Luke dog? I hope all has been well you, your family and your hounds. Penny and the pups handling the heat OK?

I seen where your words and a picture of Reb made the latest issue of CoonHound Bloodlines. That kind of makes you and Reb "Famous" now Take care.

Hey Chris !!!

Glad to hear you are doing well and surviving the heat. Cooled off down here a bit. Only got into the 90's today.Lol !! The boy and I just got in from a hunt down on the South Fork River. May have just waded through the "worst" area of saw briars, blackberry briars, buck brush, tall weeds and underbrush I ever seen! About the time we got there to turn loose Randy says "I saw 5 snakes the last time I was over here". To which I replyed, "and your just now tellin' me about that?" Goodness!!! The old river coon put the "slip" on Randy's pup tonight in the water. I took a pup along and left Reb at home, so we weren't much help. Rebs better but still gets run down pretty easy in this heat. The hunt Fridat night at Moody took alot out of him. It was a dead cast, but we did come away with Best Champion Male. That was our 1st win towards GRCH. The wife got a Best Of Show with her "all blue" gyp. I've been needin' to take a few pictures of the pups anyways, so i'll post a picture of your pup on here. I wasn't hunting much when the "Luke" dog was going strong but I do know there are several good'uns around out of him.Wilbers hunting a dog called "Junior" that is (I believe) out of Luke. Could be wrong, but don't think so. He's supposed to be a dandy. Miss Penny is tough as shoe leather and the pups are all fine. Gettin' better lookin' all the time. When I sent that message to Todd, I wasn't expecting it to be published in the CB. But, I don't mind and Reb thought he looked good in the picture.LOL!!! Take care and i'll get a picture of yer gyp on here soon. Have a good night.....................Lowell

Just got a report on 2 pups, 1 male and 1 female 9 weeks old out of HARPETH RIVER BLUE JACK X MCGINNIS' BLUE THUNDER. They were shown a coon for the first time and was told they will most definitely bark at a coon. He was happy, and looking forward to them getting bigger.
