I've never had one go dead, but I charge mine after every hunt. I think it's supposed to last like 17 hours. I haven't had ANY problems with my handheld or collars whatsoever, I'm real pleased with it.

She's thickened up some for sure, It's still too early to tell 100% but I'd say theres a few in there if I had to guess.

Are you wanting a male or female Shan?

Think they can go up to 36 hours if you set em right on the DC 30. 17 is if you set them at the fastest movement settings. You got I think 5 sec, 10 Sec, and 15 sec updates.

The 40 is supposed to last longer. Everyone always tries to say well thats not long, and if it was a beep beep system its not, but on a Garmin where you can SEE exactly where the dog is or was when it lost signal its more than enough.

I wouldn't trade my Garmin for 2 beep beep systems.

map cards

How do the map cards work? Do u buy them buy the state or how is it set up?

Posted by Chris McCrary on 04-20-2011 11:59 AM:

Most times it is a region sometimes the whole US depending on what card you get. Say for example you live in the south. You more than likely get the whole south east or eastern coast on a card. You can really get anything you want I believe, just gotta have a big enough card. If you get a good card it will include topo, creeks, rivers, lakes, etc, and roads. Makes it very easy to find you dog when you have the roads and easy to know if they are getting close to them. Also can sometimes show creeks that you dont know are around. I know it has for me where otherwise I wouldnt know it was there in the middle of pines.

Call Bruce Conkey. His map cards are awesome. He will ask you what areas you want and need. Awesome guy to deal with and will be to your door quick. He is on top of the coonhound supply business with prices, products, and customer service.

Doesn't matter to me Clyde, but I'd really like a male.
You know what I have in my yard, they'll see to it that this blue dog gets under the coon.

I'll put you down for a male then. If this litter is anything like his first two litters, all they will need is a ride to the woods.

Hunted Brummy alone last night and he struck a cold track and drifted it out opening here and there and came treed with a coon at 645 yards. On the 2nd dump he fell in there 168 yards and came treed without a bark on the ground. It was a big nasty viney tree and I couldn't find the coon.

Sure is mighty warm out already and the ticks are EVERYWHERE. I pulled 7 off me last night, thankfully none of them were stuck down yet.

Any body else been getting much hunting in?

Thanks for the kind words, you must know Jonathan Merritt? I bought Brummy from him when he was around 15 months old. What's your name?

Brummy went 2 for 2 tonight. Treed the 1st one at 300 yards and didn't take but just a minute doing it. Pulled him off that tree and shot him on down the creek, 7/10's of a mile later he was treed in short order. Parked in a subdivision, walked out of it, across an airplane runway, across a cow pasture and looked at another coon. It's a wonder we didn't get arrested LOL.

I've got a grand daughter to Smokin' Joe on top (her dad was a full brother to Willie) and she's a grand daughter to Hammer 18 on bottom bred now.

I've got several booked already but if you're interested I'll put your name on the list.

I've got a Droop bred female that a guy in north GA owns booked to be bred when she comes in and a buddy of mine is going to lease me his Utchman bred female when she comes in. Several more folks have talked about breeding to him but nothing is set in stone yet.

I heard that Allen, we've been getting in a little here and there. Thankfully all the real bad weather has missed us to the north and the south.

We've been hunting a good bit trying to get Brummy ready for Bluetick Days, he's been looking pretty sharp. Anybody interested in breeding a female is welcome to come for a hunt.
