Two dog cast

AB struck. A trees and B trees split. B leaves his tree and ends up with A. A tree is slick. A 225 minus. Does B just get 125 minus?

Posted by swamp1 on 12-03-2018 03:52 PM:

Depends

Was b called treed and how close in proximity dogs were to each other, that can be proven.

Posted by JiM on 12-03-2018 04:06 PM:

I'll take a shot.
B was struck for 75 and treed for 125. Left his tree to cover a dead tree so his 125 is minused. The tree he covered is slick so his strike is circled. He ends up with -125.

That’s what I thought. Thanks

Posted by sleepy head on 12-03-2018 04:52 PM:

My shot, assuming he was at A's tree when cast arrived B would be given next tree -75 minus, and his track minused, and -125 for leaving his original tree

Posted by shadinc on 12-03-2018 05:55 PM:

Was he retreed on A's tree or did he come into a closed tree?

Posted by STROKIN on 12-03-2018 06:06 PM:

Once both dogs are treed. Both trees are closed. Do not need the 5 going

I dont believe that rule applies because dog B can't be treed in on A's tree since it is already closed.

I believe you're right. He's minused next available due to being there BEFORE judge arrived. Had he been there after they arrived he would have been minused on his tree only and strike deleted.

The tree was closed. I dont think you can minus a dog for not being treed on a tree that was already closed when he got there.

Strokin', I don't see where you make note whether B was with A when you arrived; or did B come in to A after you were there?

Makes a difference. Thanks.

I think right but isn't he accountable for his strike?

Then do this situation. If I have the only plus points and I don't want to loose them and I don't feel like other dogs can catch me and all the dogs pack up why would I ever tree my dog? If they tree stationary cant be ran on me at their tree. If the tree closes and my dogs not treed in on paper but when I get there but he's there and the tree's dead why wouldn't he be accounted for on next available tree. Rather than handle him then delete his strike and keep my plus points.

Allens question leads me to think that 4(j) DOES apply here but I sure dont know how you can minus a dog for not being called treed on a tree that is closed.

B was there when we arrived

Tree

If the dog is there when you get there don’t you take next available tree on slick or off game ?

Dogs

If dog was there when cast arrives both digs are minused on track and tree. If dog came into tree after cast arrives it would not be minuepsed as no coon was seen. Simple rule being over thought due to separate tree at start, really did not matter as dog b moved to slick tree before cast arrived and should be scored accordingly minus 2 nd tree and minus track. Dave

You have been pretty quiet lately, did Mr. Lambert send you some apple pie? How did a Garmin come into this picture? Easy on the apple pie. Dave

My dog is not going to be split treed until we get to the first dog declared treed and he is not there I will not call my dog split treed especially in a one to one vote.

Only if super obvious!

Tar is right as rain, nothing to be gained by being silly enough to declare a split tree unless you have no other choice. See above, took it both ways on the slick and got an added 125 for being called split.
