Vodka for Odors??

Has anyone tried Vodka?? Just read article in Ohio country journal,Doc's talk. DVM form Ohio State University wrote about using vodka for odors. Skunk came to my mind! Also can be used as insecticide and poison ivy treatment. (all external treatments) Interesting article so I googled vodka uses. You can read his article at ocj.com. mid-November issue Doc's talk by Donald E. Sanders. I have a collar that some how got skunk odor on it, so I'm going to try this. Worth a shot! LoL!

Works well. Put collar in it for a hour. Maybe with a little vodca. If collar is on female,rename her"Bloody Mary, 😂

Vodka has it's own odor. A buddy snuck a pint into my hospital room and mixed me a drink. Nurse came in and started winding like a good layup dog and hollared Ok where is it? She found it too and had my buddy thrown out of the hospital and they would have thrown me out if I hadn't been the patient.

No vodka in a hospital?? How things have changed! When my husband got shot (stray bullet), the Dr said he could have one beer a day, I guess to keep him from whining about going home.

I used to keep a bottle in the freezer for medicinal purposes only 😉. I remember one time when the kids were teenagers I noticed it was frozen the big dummies had drank it and refilled with water lol.
I mentioned on the other thread that if vodka works I would assume that rubbing alcohol would do the same. You would probably want to cut it about 50/50 with water for spraying all over and never use all over when your dog is hot because it would cool them to quickly and could result in shock. It could be beneficial to use in areas where blood vessels are presents for a slower cooling. Also avoid mucus membranes like the eyes and mouth.
I use rubbing alcohol alot in cleaning and it is a great solvent so I would imagine that vodka would work great and breaking down the oils that hold odors. I also use vodka to make tinctures with herbs and it can be cooked off to pull the oil off of dried plants so this concept makes great since.

Nope, news to me. Hmmm seems like a waste of a natural resource ... just saying.

XO is great for removing extremely bad smells. We had a chest freezer filled with frozen mammals. Someone unplugged the freezer, and we didn't figure it out for about 3 months. There was bout 18" of nasty soup in the bottom.

I had to clean it out. That has to be about the best test for removing odors that I could imagine.
