James merchant,joe house, yes even ol Timothy ball I feel was influential to walker breed, Mike do honey hard name just 5, other breeds I would be afraid to answer but I'm sure there are several in each that have promoted bred and won with a strain of that breed that was instrumental in the breed

The late JC Ellis has to be at the top of the list. Joe House,Tim Ball, Ed Bates, And Calvin Hayes. There are more that have done a lot for there breeds and this sport.

Well although most are naming people that had some good hounds and or had the money to buy top hounds and push them , Imo people like Keith medley , wimp Aron , tam young, tommy mqueen, fergy etc, those people bred there own and raised and trained and stayed with them and still today Doug Compton would also be on that list but ,make no mistake wins are money don't make a top hounds man Imo

Breeder and winning accomplishments

Undoubtably Russ Bellar won more and bred more dogs that won at every level than any breeder or Hunter now and long ago some of the people winning today were mentored by Russ Bellar look back to the 80s 90s and even early 2000s who were hunting Bellar dogs Bellar was winning in the late sixties and seventies also when he was really young and hunting black and tans. A lot of good guys out there that have bred some good dogs over the years but just in my opinion I don't believe anyone has ever won any more World Championships or overall major hunts with his own breeding stock then Russ. The first time I ever Drew him was in 1979 and he was hunting Stryker when Striker was 13 months old and gave everybody an education real quick in that cast Stryker just exploded that night treeing Coons other dogs couldn't even keep up.
