Quality females

Who has them? How do they operate? How competitive are they? How are they breed?

We all talk about these stud dogs but the fact is it takes 2 make pups. Quality on both ends has a better chance of making something special.

I've hunted with a couple that I thought had some really good qualities but will give the owners a chance to say something about them before I do. I've been down after my surgery and thinking about the best ones I've hunted with and what I thought they could offer as far as traits go.

John hill has a female that I really like she's 2 and a half old she operates deep and lonely to a fault I've only seen her tree with other dogs about 4 times period deadly accurate I kept up with her first 30 trees now in the rut with no leaves I saw 26 coon trees 3 dens 1 slick she's been in 8 casts won 3 1st to ntch has 3 wins toward grand what's bad is the 2 she's lost was handler error she's bocephus on top Guage on bottom she's a once in a long long while dog...

Not Too Proud

Ok Eddie I am not too proud to brag. I have a 2 females one Orrie, is out of the Smoky x Katie cross. I bought her from Virginia and I am in South Alabama. Big terrain difference so it took her a while to adjust, and she still struggles a little in lots of water. She is just a solid coon dog. Leaves out at a steady pace, Medium nose, decent locate rolls to a steady chop. She is pretty good about having her coon especially if hunt her by herself. She is a 5yr old NiteCh 1 win toward Grand & has around $400 won in PKC. She is just a nice all around dog with great temperament and out of a pedigree of top producers.

That brings me to my plans with her. I plan to breed her Sunday if all goes well. I considered quite a few studs including yours. I settled on Zero. I have hunted with him and know he is a quality hound out of winners and he is a winner. Also he is only about 1.5 hours from me. I think it would be insane for me to cross 3 or 4 states to breed with such a nice stud close by.

Thanks for the chance to brag. I may tell about my other female latter. She is equally as nice maybe better.

Brian, it's not bragging. It's simply being proud of what you have and I'm grateful you shared this. I'm happy for anyone in our breed that has something to be proud of. I wish you success with your cross and trust me I understand all about the miles lol. Share that other female with us!

I have one,probably the best I have had!

Her name is Speck out of Gauge and Alice cross. 26 months old and pretty darn solid. Very independent and also very accurate. Hard hunter if need be, never has checked in. Trees coon 10 feet in or a mile in, what ever is needed. Plan on breeding her to Leon Darkside to double up on some things.

You know what I'm packin'- GrNtCh Jo-ann (Boomer/Ruby), also $KC Ch. plum crazy- hunts like a walker, but usually has a coon when she trees. Only wish is when she 'drops the anchor', it would be a hard chop, instead of rapid short bawl. Take care, Ron.

My cousin and I own a nice nite champion female she has 1 win to grand and has only been in 6 hunts. She really likes to get split and hold pressure and is a pretty good strike dog in honest company. One bark tree dog too. Jesse Nappin also has a real nice independent female in Max Destruction and he also has Grand Nite Jewel too with Mike Eaton. Jason Schulte still has Monkey and another grand, Cajun, and I'm sure he's working on his next one.

Toughest bluetick female that I've drawn in a hunt that's still alive without a doubt is Prarie creek Josie (monkey) not only is she a winner she's reproducing as well #1 on current list and #7 on historical list....

A lot of people talk but she has proven she's a TOP hound!

Good females

Looks like there are a few very nice females out there. I will have to TOOT a lot louder this time! My 2nd Female is Jade, a 4yr old off of Piazon (can't remember bottom right now). She is GrNite GrCh and about $400 won in PKC. She leaves out on a sprint, opens usually pretty quick, locates, and turns into a hard chop that sounds like two different dogs on the tree. She has a Medium nose, fair mouth, and has won her fair share of casts this year. Jade will generally always make one tree by herself in a two hour cast.

I looked long and hard for a dog for my 15yr old son to run in some hunts. She is perfect for him and suits him well. I bet most of these females listed have one thing in common. They are NOT for sale!

I chose to go with females for one reason. Both of my females are nice enough for any stud owner to want to breed to them. So I always have access to the best stud alive. I pity the Stud owners because finding NICE females to breed to the Male they have poured so much time into has to be difficult. Even if they are an outstanding hound, they may never be given a chance in the stud pen.
