Looky here what that cookie cutter of your is reproducing
Daddy has mostly been just having fun and being a pup. I have been taking him once in a while just to stretch his legs and get him used to loading and traveling. until last night he has never actually seen a coon....alive or dead, but has run and treed with other dogs I have taken him with quite a few times. Everything he has done he has done from natural instinct without being worked on a cage coon or dead coon. last night while hunting with Mac, Daddy took a left and got down by the reservoir and struck while Mac went right and got in there about 900 deep in the big timber on state ground. Daddy ran a nice track and hit the tree hard and it took me 7 or 8 mins to get to him and I started the camera as I walked in. I start and train a couple of pups a year...so its real important to me to start with a pup from a cross that I have great confidence in and the Willow x Billy cross isn't letting me down. I been seeing your pics and videos of Daddy's littermate sister Storm that you kept from this litter and I just wanted you to know that the one I kept is also on the way to being a coon dog too. I had little doubt that crossing two powerhouse lines of redbones stacked top to bottom with big winners and reproducers would result in great things. After seeing these results I am happy to have crossed three of the best direct daughters of Outlaw Billy the Kid on males direct out of Rabble Rouser....and have plans to cross them to other males direct out of him. I think its an outstanding combination of traits that needs to be explored further.

I love it when someone gives the opportunity to say it again. We are headed in the right direction. Thanks for the updates.

Shane I think I may have gotten lucky again when I got Willow from Buck I had no ideal about red dogs other than my Grand Dad hunted grade redbones when I was little being that I knew nothing about different lines my back ground is with walkers I want name names for fear I would forget to mention someone being a novice but a lot of guys did a lot of work in Willows pedigree I have got to hunt with a lot of T-Top dogs more than any other line of reds I know about

But Storm has a different half in Billy the Kid which I no nothing about its looks to me like a lot of other people have also did a lot of work. Right now I am higher on her than a Georgia pine but young dogs have there ups and downs but the natural instinct in her has been something else to watch I have never knew but one way to train I just hunt em

I hunted her some last Jan. and Feb. so she had seen a few coons but I hunted her all summer by herself some nights were good some weren't but I never killed a coon on her at all even though she treed a few but once I started to knocking some down on her this fall she has really came to life I have seen her tree em by herself see her split tree and have en and have see her tree and take a lot of pressure and stay and have em but having said all that she is still green and developing

But would like to say Thanks to all the people who have put the time in to study make the crosses in her back ground and a Thanks to you if you had not chosen to save he semen and when you posted on here looking for a female to breed some of it too and not chose Willow I would not have Storm either

Storm still a ways to go stay tuned we will see what happens

Took lucky and redman for a hunt tonight. She hunted out really good went her own way and hunted with redman some. Made one tree she got a lil excited at the tree. Got a bark or two out of her when the coon fell. Not to bad just makin progress. May catch one and let her see what one alive acts like. She may get fired up who knows.

I think this cross is doing fine for their age. I think we will see a few break out and do a little winning in the hunts in 2016. I really like Hoosier Daddy, but I'm taking it slow with him...which in my opinion doesn't hurt a thing and lowers the risk of setbacks which often come from expecting too much too soon and pushing a young dog too hard before they are mature enough to take it. Everything he has done has come completely natural to him and he treed many times before he even saw a soon...alive or dead. I could see it was instinct.
I will be picking my nights and splitting my time between him and a nice young female out of Breanna x Aftershock going forward and if all goes well he may be ready to dip his toe in a competition hunt this spring. Good luck to you and the other fellas who have one from this litter

Posted by wbond on 12-15-2015 04:21 AM:

Richard foundation females that's a hard call for Willow or Storm more than likely neither will be breed enough to know Willow has 11 pups maybe 3 of them are dead 2 as pups the other about 6 months old if Storm keeps making progress I want need to breed Willow again Storm want be breed until she has proved what she is

The best reproducing female I ever had had like 15 or 16 pups 8 or 9 of those made nite or grand as best has I can remember I never breed to sell pups only breed for a young dog to hunt several of the walker females I had were only breed one time

But the other dogs you have listed I would call foundation females but my favorite females are the ones he could get breed by a house dog and still produce a coon dog I have seen 3 like that in my life time didn't matter what you breed em too out cross line breed or a poodle they where going to reproduce a coon dog

The little pup out of Samantha will make 8 generations I have hunted while I can say I do have 3 generations here I still need to night ch 2 of those generations before I can say they have been success plus I am getting a might long in the tooth I am not sure I will make 8 generations with them

Took lucky out last night with redman she hasnt been out in a while bad weather and snow has kept her at the house. Didnt expect much out of her. But I tur ed them down a lil holler and heard a dog bark but didnt really recognize who it was til her and redman started pushin the track. Up the fence row down the hill up the hill down and up another til the coon decided enough was enough and climbed. Lucky stopped and treed on a few tapped trees but soon realized what happened and caught back up. I was super impressed by her actions since she hasnt been hunted much and never had but one coon released for her and she paid no attention to it really. Just thought you guys would like to hear about it. Not bad for three legs huh
