Paul deep and lonely do not produce high scores. I think we both know this.

I'm sorry that proves nothing to me. I've compitition hunted for 15 years now been on 3 cast were I saw better than 500 plus. If I liked that much action I would squirrel hunt. Sad thing is people where I live will go breed to this dog and the dog might really struggle to tree a coon where I live I've done it myself. And no disrespect to the dog he might be a Coondawg. Alot if u guys are too hung up on big scores. If its not illimination hunt its not a big hunt anyways. Congrats to winner.

I was on this cast with this dog,,that dog stomped my dogs rearend,,,this dog,,(bushwacker) is the real deal,,he is one fine hound and can get the job done easy and very quick about it too,,it was worth losing,,just to see this dog go!,he also had 450 circle points,,and there isn't a doubt that the coon was there,,must couldn't see them

Posted by larryfox on 04-20-2015 03:25 AM:

Bushwacker is still a fairly young dog to the best of my knowledge. I seen him in action after riding 11 hours to nc. He still treed coons. Congrats to him and his owner on a high score

Nick there is a huge difference in a dog having the ability to score this high and a dog that has the ability and the desire to keep treeing coon after coon just to be pulled off to do it over and over again.

Deep and lonely ruin a good cast. I'm talking extreme deep where the cast spends more time walking chasing the dogs then walking to trees with coon in them.

Trevor I understand what your saying. A dog shouldn't have to be deep and lonely when put in thick coon. We have done alot of winning where I live with a dog that's deep and lonely almost every time. I worry more about accuracy than I do style. I don't think you understand where I live one coon and hold your points will give you a high chance to win your cast and get in final 4 with 60 plus dogs entered. I've done it alot. Mine doesn't run from her compitition and made that way with a shocker. She immediately goes the other direction of other dogs when casted:she was born that way. I've had people complain after we score as many as 7 trees and none plused and she be put on card 1.5 in there and it's over. And who wasted time her or the rst of the cast making 7 slick circles?Mine has done alot of winning and anyone can win with one that's buy thereself with coons. No handling to it. That's why I like it. I hate having to handle.

how much time was this dog hunting alone

Posted by hershberger on 04-20-2015 04:47 AM:

just saying if he had to wait 5 min per tree and made 10 trees, he would have to get struck , tree, stay and shine tree EVERY 12 minutes for 2 hours.

I Guarantee you,it was legit,I don't know the guy,or the dog,,,but I was there,,and I know what I saw,,that dog treed em with ease and was very quick about it,,,he is a coondog deluxe,,finest dog I've ever seen

Those deep and lonely kind get the checks while those pack hounds get the trophys.

I used to be skeptical of a lot of these high scores myself, but a few weeks back we drew a dog in a local hunt.. He put up 1275 in 2hrs. All 4 dogs stayed in until last 10 minutes and the dog that scored 1275 had last strike a few times! I judged the cast so I know all things were legit in the cast.. I've seen scores of 1200-1300 before on cast but usually it was when a dog was hunting alone for one reason or another..So after being in that cast a few weeks back I'd say that if the circumstances were right with the right hound 1700+ would be attainable! Now some of the scores in the past of 2000+ or better may have had some help from a sharp pencil!😯

A couple years ago hunting around a big corn field with some friends we saw either 11 or 14 (I can't remember the exact # now) coon layed up around 2 sides of that field. I'm thinking in the mid west that's probably fairly common but around here that was just about a once in a lifetime occurance. Now we were just pleasure hunting and the dogs never actually discovered the majority of those coon (they must have been layed up for a while) but had a dog treed on most of them and we'd been scoring we could easily have recorded a 2000+ score that night. If that could happen around here I can only imagine what could happen In Indiana or Ohio.

Wow 1700 plus 450 circle that's impressive..congrats to dog and handler...he was really knockin them off....wish I could hunt in coon that thick just one time...

Posted by yadkintar on 04-20-2015 12:13 PM:

Pretty sure a dog that can tree that many coons in 2 hrs if put in thin coons would get his fair share of them to ( born with it) jmo !!!!

Just curious how many other dogs were in the cast and what was their scores ?

Deep and lonely would not have got the trophy or check in that cast, I bet.

Bushwhacker placed second in the Fall Sophomore Super Stakes. The super stakes is an elimination hunt.

sounds like they were getting whipped.

I know the leaves are just coming on here, doubt there's many up that way. So it was probably pretty easy to burn the tree down to find coon.

I first of all I would like to congratulate Tic on his accomplishments this past weekend!! I will go I record and say that I've seen bushwhacker put on a Coon treeing show one night that I pressed me and another "respectibe walker breeder" so much that he know has his female bred to him!! Last fall Tic advertised some puppies for sale off of Buswhacker so I gave him a call and bought one.... Long story short a friendship has been made and I know am hunting one of the nicest pups I had on my leadstrap in years!!... Up until a month ago I had never hunted with Bushwhacker so I ask Tic if I could come and see him go his reply was "I'll come to your house and show him anyway you want to see him go" We treed several coons that night and I was impressed to say the least!! Yes scoring 1700 plus in a heck of a score but if everything goes well that kind of score is attainable in that part of the country! Congrats my friend! TREE BUSHWHACKER!!
