Accuracy
Don't believe the hype people. Go hunting with dogs and see.
So true, use to hunt with a guy who supposedly had some jam up English dogs he was always talking about how they had won this hunt and that hunt, hunted all summer and early fall with this great dog and never seen a coon in a tree.

Nearly missed one night I had hunted him 368 nights that yr. It was dead of summer and I found the coon half a mile away on way back to truck. Limbs all touched.

you know I'm 60 this year and coon hunted all my youth and and up into my late thirty's I switched to hog hunting the last 20 years and was dog less for a few years [ except the cow dogs ] well I decided to go back to coon hunting and have a pair of yearling walkers now and I have been on here reading and hearing people talk about and bragging on 70 and 80% accurate and I thought to myself that I would have surely culled a dog that bad at not having a coon lol times must have sure changed since my last pair of dogs when a 70% dog is bragged upon lol . I just pleasure and hide hunted all my life and a dog that had an empty tree didn't get fed too long . if this pair of dogs here are no better than 90% I will cull these as well and keep looking . just a thought rambling in an old man's head .

Look at it this way. If some one claims to have a 90% dog, then simply put, only 10 trees out of every 100 trees are empty. To me that is simply amazing. Or even 1 miss out of every 10 trees. I will feed that dog for the rest of its life. I feel in all honesty that a 75% to 80% is a lot more realistic. Some dogs are freaks of nature and just have the coons period.

Can you imagine if a drug sniffing dog was only 50% accurate? But they're not judged on how fast they find the drugs. Only that they find them.
yeah amazing that's what I want another pair of freaks lol but these accurate dogs aren't comp. material . when you here a blistering hot race going on and then silence for a bit [ while they are checking ] and then they settle treed , you would never get a first tree with one of these dogs . dogs just bred too tree happy anymore and bang the first tree a coon brushes up against without ever checking to see if they are right . I think if you took out circle trees in the comp hunts and just scored on coon seen it would only be natural you would see a shift in the way dogs were bred . I've owned a many of them freaks in my youth but we hunted for fur and meat and didn't have time to waist walking to slick trees lol

I don't know how hound owners tollerate a dog treeing just to tree. Dogs also miss because they are lazy and guessing.
It's a lack of training plain and simple. Asthe dogs trainer
we are
supposed to teach it wrong from right. If you just walk in and shine the tree and show no emotion and do it several times the dog will think it's right and keep doing it.
I have never owned one I couldn't fix from false treeing. It takes a good switch and many miles and hours. Most are afraid if they
scold a dog for making bad trees they will quit treeing. Some i'm sure would but I haven't owned one.
My Mouse and my Ike dog were deadly accurate. I will show Ike to anyone that wants to see him go.

I've got one that's a 90+% accurate tree dog!!! I don't pleasure hunt this dog I only hunt her in the hunts!!! She is a first to fourth (when she barks I put her on the paper) strike dog and a first tree dog 98% of the time. We love to draw deep and lonely type hounds as she trees coons going in and out. She wins more than she looses but she's not a big score type of hound. Her best score was 1350+ with 125- (that was 2 dogs and 1 fell in love) It took this dog 14 NtCh cast wins to finish to grandnite. She isn't the best there is but she can watch hockey with me anytime.

Robert I think your right if they would get rid of circle trees, all the breeds would improve. This is just my opinion. I would like to hear others opinion.

lol, I deleted my post. don't want to argue.
keep telling yourself they all tree slick if it makes you feel better about your slick treeing dog.

Just my opinion but lets have these hunts when the leaves are off and see how accurate the dogs really are. It would be curious.
My dog has a coon every single time he tree's...sometimes I just can't find it...
I do not tolerate lazy, slick treeing, but I do know that a dog will miss, and even the best of them don't tree them all. I don't think slick treeing is as much the dogs fault as it is the trainer for allowing it. But you need to be realistic
