Pick one ?
If you had to pick one dog that you think has made the biggest contribution to makeing the Walker dogs the dominating force in the competition world who would it be?
Im goin with RAT.

Unfortunately my experience is limited, but from what I have seen, I would I pick Queen, Fred,Barks and Hubs mother. I guess though she would have came along after the shift of winning went to walkers.

Most of it started with Lipper.
But the credit goes to the walker breeders.

for the sake of name dropping
I'm going to go with Shetler's Danny Boy because he goes way back and the little breeding he did probably spawned more lines than you'd think. But I really don't think you can lay it on one dog or one line. That would be like asking who made this country what it is today; was it The founding fathers, the industrialist of the early 1900s, or was it the greatest generation that fought the big war? We wouldn't be where we are today if it weren't for ALL of them. So I think it's the same way with the walker breed all the way from Finley River Chief to Bone Collector. IMO
bixler's supreme sally
owens hardwood bozo
I'm like RLenhart you can't narrow it down to one dog , and you can't say it was one breeder either . Myself I think each generation of dogs added to the mixture of what we have today, but we got some strains that has way too much tree bred in them that has created some problems that need to be corrected. How you do that is your choice .

Its pretty easy to pick. Most claim not to like him. I don't even have to mention his name. You can find it under top historical reproducer in ukc. Yes thats the registry you have to see a coon in to win. Then you can also go look and see who's offspring has the all time winning money for pups in pkc. Its right there in black and white and want ever be another. If thats not dominate in the hunts. I really dont know what is.

Johnson's Banjo, he put the tree in what was running dogs for the most part.

Most of it started with a dog named Johnson's Banjo about 30 years prior to Lipper...Lipper was truly one of the greats, but no where near the "start" of anything in the Walker breed.
That said, if I could breed to any stud dog right now it would be Owen's Hardwood Bozo.

Just from my own personal experience. Over the years of hunting , when I go with dogs with House's Lipper in the up close pedigree I have memorys of looking at a coon in a tree. When I go with dogs with Rat Attack in the up close pedigree I have memorys of slick trees. Don't hate the messenger. I'm just giving my experiences.

You sure love to argue...you would no doubt argue with me if I tried to buy a game call from you. Walkers had been "dominating" the hunts well before Lipper was born...I get that you are a fanboy of House's Lipper, he was definitely a great dog, but facts do not support your support.

Dominate,
Lipper wasn't even the most dominate stud of Joe House let alone the entire breed.
Clint was the dominate stud of Joe,,,,,or was it Chief or Tom Tom.
Clint sired a litter who 2 0f his sons(littermates) sired world champs, can Lipper say that,(Cruze sired Mac's Little Joe an High Ridge Score sired Ohio Clipper), not to take away from Lipper.
Walkers have been DOMINATE for a long time,I give credit to those breeders of old days to put Walkers where they are.

Of every sound a coondog could possibly make treeing a coon, there is only one LIPPER MOUTH. It's like a rubber stamp , undeniable , unique scream that as far as I know cannot be gotten any other way except Lipper. As far as I know.
When did comp hunts really catch on? When did walkers begin to dominate the hunts?
