RIP Wayne Siem

Just received word on Saturday evening that Wayne Siem had passed away in the afternoon. Wayne worked construction running a Dozer, he worked Saturday until 2 p.m. and was meeting his wife at her work, Wayne was in the parking lot, but never came inside. When they checked on him he had passed sitting in his truck.

Wayne was a long time friend and followed the Redbones all his life. He served as President of coon clubs, Minnesota State Coon Hunters, and was a Bench Show Judge and Master of Hounds for years. Wayne served as a UKC Field Rep for 9 years as well. Wayne you will be missed, Rest in Peace my friend.

Obituary for Wayne W. Siem
Wayne W. Siem age 60, of Mazeppa died suddenly on Saturday, November 1, 2014 in Mazeppa. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Dale Lutheran Church in rural Wanamingo with Pastor Heather Culuris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home – Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Wayne William Siem was born on November 4, 1953 in Rochester, MN to Carl J. and Agnes I. (Rott) Siem. He grew up in the Elgin and Wanamingo areas. Wayne graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1971. He spent most of his career as a heavy equipment operator working for Schumacher Excavating Company in Zumbrota. On October 18, 2000 Wayne married Carolyn Befort in Red Wing. They made their home in Mazeppa and Carolyn works for the Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Zumbrota Office. Wayne enjoyed coon and deer hunting, playing cards, especially cribbage, having coffee and talking with friends. Wayne was known for always having a joke to brighten up your day. Wayne was currently serving as Treasurer of the Rochester Coon Hunters Association, he was a Field Representative for UKC and a master houndsman for the Tri-State area. He was also a member of the MN Coon Hunters Association, Spring Valley Coon Hunters Association and Plainview Coon Hunters Association.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sons, Calvin (Sabrina Vieths) Befort of Zumbrota and Cameron Befort of Mazeppa; brothers, Glen (Barb) Siem of Eagle Lake and Jeff (Karla) Siem of Falcon Heights; sister-in-law, Susan Siem of White, GA; nieces and nephews, Shelley (Frank) Lyden of Columbus, OH, Ellen Siem of Ashland, OR, Jennifer (Mark) Lydeen of Bloomington, MN, Jacob Siem of Eagle Lake, MN and Brady Thames of Atlanta, GA; great-niece, Kalee Russell and many other loving relatives from Carolyn’s family including, mother and father-in-law, Barb and Marvin Tri; brothers and sisters-in-law, Darwyn (Mary) Tri, Laurie (John) Hoernemann, (Julie (Arn) Tri, Diane Robertson & fiance Steve Warneke, Duane (Cindy) Tri; nieces and nephews,Linnea (Darin) Raasch, Alicia (Trent) Senenfelder, Cassie Tri, Cailla Tri, Katie Hoernemann, Kristen Hoernemann, Adam Hoernemann(Deanna Gilsrud), Michael (Danielle) Paulson, Alisha (Andrew) Finley, Nicole Ryan, Ciara Ryan and Brent (Emily) Robertson.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale and Bob Siem and nephew, Derek Tri.

Sorry to hear. Wayne contributed so much to MN coonhunting clubs & UKC over the years. I can't even fathom the amount of miles he drove or hours he spent sitting in clubhouses to serve as BSJ & MOH over the years.
His presence & laugh will be missed at many clubs.
Thoughts & prayers to his family & friends.

Wow. That is sad. But take a look at all these responses. When you go wouldn't it be awesome for everyone who ever met you to say what a good person you were? And I think that really sums up Wayne. He was a genuinely good person. A humble man. Rest in peace Wayne.

So sorry to hear this news. As a 12 year old boy in 1988, I bought my first coonhound pup from Wayne. He was MOH and BSJ for most of our hunts and always brought good conversation, stories, and jokes with him. I am going to miss him. My prayers go out to his family.

I remember being at a hunt one time where Wayne was MOH, one cast was drawn out where no one had a truck, Wayne let them take his......That's the kind of Man Wayne was.
