It was good talking to u yesterday. Maybe we can get together for a hunt sometime but we will stay n touch ,hope she has a good litter. Hunted Sport & Izzy last night. Treed a possum first drop which was Izzy's second one she's ever been on and I let her know it was wrong. Second drop they worked a track bout 700yrds and split bout 400 yrds apart both had coon quit came home.

George, we need to get together and go again real soon. Sport and Izzy looked good except for the possum lol! I think we may have corrected that problem.

Thanks for getting back with me George, that was a good chat. I believe you may have a good cross going there. I forgot to ask if Sport has any pups out of him yet.
I can't believe you treed a possum!!! LOL. I'm sure there are many of our dogs that does but most won't admit it. I only owned one that never treed one or even backed a dog on one, that was my Bud dog but I think he was just born that way. I've walked a mile in these hills to just pick a dog off a possum. It usually isn't a happy site when that happens. I'm still looking or that perfect one. Maybe we can get together soon for a hunt, until then good luck with the cross and have a great day.

Ron

Bred

Emma on day 5,6,7 and 9 and she didn't want to breed on the ninth day. Any one else experienced anything like this? I haven't.

Explain

George are you saying you bred her on the 5th,6th,7th and 9th of Aug. or on the 5-9th day of her heat period ? I have never seen a female breed on the 5th day of her heat period if that's what you are saying. I usually don't even try them until day 10 but I like to bred on the 11th and 13th day. Dave

Posted by G. JEFFERS on 08-18-2014 04:27 PM:

Heat cycle

5,6,7,9 days from first sight of blood.

Again

If you are sure when this female came in season you may want to try her again in a couple days. I knew for sure what day a female started to bleed and she wouldn't take a male until the 16th day. I guess all females are different. I might add I got 11 pups when I bred her on the 16th and 17th day. I couldn't believe it. Good Luck. Nice Looking dogs and nice Ped.'s. Dave

Heat cycle

I'm with you Dave. I've always stuck with the 11th and 13th day although I've had success with earlier and later dates. I got pups from one on the 17th and 19th day after first blood and I carried ole Brandy to Ed's and bred her to Super Jet 6 on the 10th day and she had 11 pups and they were only hooked for 6 minutes. But that being the exception not the rule. Good luck George, she'd better have just enough for me to have one! LOL

Great pics George

I usually could tell something by the 5th week but some females don't start showing till a couple weeks prior. I never got to hunt with ole Broad AX Bl Max but I did breed my old Bonnie female to him. I believe it was one of the better crosses I ever made. Max put a lot of speed and independance in them. He wasn't the cutest pup in the litter but he reproduced very well. I like that blood and your pups have it top and bottom. Only time will tell. Later, Ron

Posted by Ron Moore on 09-15-2014 06:37 PM:

Is she showing yet!

George, is Emma starting to show yet? If I have it right, she should be a little better than 5 weeks along.

Thanks, Ron

Posted by G. JEFFERS on 09-15-2014 07:10 PM:

Emma

I bred her first time on the 13th so today would put her on her 33rd day if she took on the first round. Can't really tell nothing for sure other than she's gotten a little fatter but that could b where I haven't hunted her n a few weeks. Should b able to tell n the next few days if she took or not.

On a different note.. I took Sport up and hunted with Heikki Yeager last weekend and ur more than welcome to ask him wat he thought of him.
Thanks

Sport x Emma, this should be a nice cross. Sport is a hound with alot of heart and drive. He is not perfect but I have never hunted with one that was perfect in every way. Emma is young but is making a nice hound.

Posted by BETHLEHEM BLUES on 09-15-2014 10:26 PM:

Sport

I was really impressed with what I saw out of him & Izzy it was 75 degrees the whole night never seem to slow them down much other than while they treed, you could tell they were hot the but as far as tracking I liked what I saw. Sport is a big hound with the looks that a hound should look like, big ears, blocky head, nice feet & gotta be pushing 75-80 pounds. He had a lot of go in him with the independence but not to a fault. His mouth was above average I thought big bawl, nice locate. I will be taking my Ginger female to him when she comes in next month, I will leave her with George so we can make sure she gets bred, she has never been bred yet & she is 4 1/2. She is Albert bred top & bottom, very excited about this cross. George & Gary were two very nice men & fun to hunt with, those hounds was exactly what they said they was, we made 6 trees & saw 11 coon, next time I'll try to put us in some better spots to hunt. Lol

Thanks Heikki

Thanks Guys

For the info. Sorry George, I, for some reason, thought she was bred the first time on the 6th. Sounds like there might be some pretty good pups. Hope to get to hunt with you soon. Have a good day.

Ron

Heikki, George and I both had a good time on that hunt. We got to see some good hounds working together and seperatly. We picked one of the hottest nights to go. Crossing Ginger on Sport should also be a good cross. There will be a lot of old Albert blood in those pups.I am looking forward in seeing how Sport will reproduce. There are some quality females being bred to him now and in the near future.
