Good job John, and keep it up. I stopped several years ago when Illinois banned smoking in public buildings. Because of my government job it meant that I couldn't smoke in the "company" car. I fell back on smokeless (chew), but I hope to stop it all. Good luck with it!

I quit smoking once.......for about 4 or 5 months........basic and ait.........then I decided to quit quitting and never looked back.

I don't drink, don't do drugs, and getting too old to chase wild women and hardcore hounds.....so smoking is the only thing between me and.....u know, bored lol.

Stay strong...right there's almost a truck payment. The tobacco is grown over seas, taxes are pitiful plus you will be much much better off without filling your lungs full of smoke. I still enjoy a occasional chew now and then.

i never got hooked on tobacco, thank GOD, but i did get hooked on alcohal. i gave it up over 7 years ago. i know what you're going through. the hard part is over. remember, it's the first one that gets you. you've done good and should be pleased with yourself. it wasn't easy but you did it anyway.

I smoked, chewed, rubbed and haven't touched any of it in 40 yrs. I was also an alcoholic and haven't touched alcohol in 26 yrs. I'am not saying it was easy, but if I could do it, with Gods help, you can to. Good luck and God bless.

not mine. 4000 seeds is less than $8 including shipping.

don't get me wrong. for those who want to quit I think its awesome and shows a lot of backbone. I remember the first 2 weeks of basic being pretty rough with wanting one and thankfully there wasn't even a place to get one.......then it didn't bother me at all even when I had drill sergeants smoking in front of us......and even once I was back home it was quite awhile before I smoked regular again.......prob a pack or less a month for another yr or so..

but its the one bad habit I enjoy and im not exactly going to kill a family of 5 because I smoked and drove lol.....so of all the bad habits I COULD have picked up and stuck with its prob the better choice.

blackflagginit, yes, relatively speaking it's only one bad habit and it's not illegal but no bad habit is a good choice.
my mother died of lung cancer, my sister died of copd, my neighbor is dieing of lung cancer now. copd and lung cancer is a terribly way to die. you go through hell first. i know because i visit him. he guit 10 years ago and it got him anyway. quit now at any cost. pay someone to tie you to a tree if you must, you can not justify smoking in anyway. it's an addiction that you must fight against and win. your life depend upon it.

ya I know. I lost 2 grandparents and also my coonhunting mentor to it. no matter what I do or don't do im not going to live forever though lol....I could get smacked by a bus or semi 5 minutes from now...

when I go I go, im not going to avoid things I enjoy for a false sense of safety though.

blackflagginet, you can hope you don't get lung cancer and besides, some people get it that have never smoked.
i grew up in a house of smokers before anyone cared about the crazy non smoker and so i worry about my chances of getting it.

2 months now without smokeing, still get the urge for one pretty often.
I have however gained about 25 pounds, so now i will probably die of heart failure instead of lung cancer.Lol.

john, you will live much longer and thus have plenty of time to loose the extra weight. besides, didn't you enjoy eating too much? wasn't it better than smoking? you must find something to do during the many specks of time that you would otherwise reach for cancer, i.e., a smoke. consider one of those hand held video games that you can take anywhere. be brave, take up something new.

Well Worth the Pain!

I am not a regular on this board, but I do visit and like to read Some of you may remember my husband Harold Kirkes. He was the Purina Field Rep at the hunts for many years. So, what I want to tell you is I smoked for a good many years. I quit back in the 1980's. I had come down with the flu and couldn't smoke for about 2 weeks. I went back to work and first thing I wanted to do was light up. Then it dawned on me....now would be the perfect time to quit these things....it was fast becoming a habit that society was giving a thumbs down on and I hated the idea of having to sit in special areas, etc. because I was a smoker. First couple of months was tough. I smoked one now and then, this was before the patches and lozenges, etc. I knew I had it pretty much beat when they made me light headed and sick when I tried to smoke one. It's been almost 30 ago now and yes, I gained some weight...but I can enjoy the taste of my food now...I can smell the flowers now...and my clothes don't stink like cigarettes and neither does my car. I am glad I did it. You will too.

Bad part is Harold is still smoking and now has COPD. It's sad and heart breaking seeing him hooked up on oxygen to breathe. Good Luck to you and enjoy your new lease on Life!
