Been in 5 hunts this year and has not effected a thing. I think too many guys want to make a bigger deal of it than it really is.

I think if you need a tracker on the whole hunt , you shouldn't be out there anyway. Either the dog isn't ready or your not ready.

I've only been in one hunt since the tracker was allowed but it was fine. In fact it worked good for me. I hunt the mountains & it's easy for a dog to get out of hearing. No dogs were struck in but mine got in deep & showed her treed but we couldn't hear her. When we got within a half mile & could hear her & struck her in. Then we walked a while & I could her her treed & treed her. Also on a earlier drop a guys dog got real close to a road & we called time & caught his dog. He wasn't struck so we wouldn't have known without the tracker.
It was a rainy foggy night so there weren't many coons moving so the trackers made it a more enjoyable night because we weren't wondering where the dogs were.

Best rule change of any registry since I have been in comp hunting in 30 years. I love the peace of mind of being able to see where my dog is during a hunt just as pleasure hunting. Keep up the good work UKC!!

I do not understand why anyone would be against using garmins during hunt time. IT WONT CHANGE WHAT YOUR DOG DOES OR DOES'NT DO IN THE HUNT. The only thing its gonna do is save dogs lives when they get too close to roads.

i have hunted a few hunts since the change and i like it. nobody really looked at them a lot except to just glance at it and see where they at or something. i have only had one person look at it the whole hunt but it didnt hurt anything with the cast!!!

I have been on six hunts this year. I can see some good in the rule. In fact it was a blessing to our cast this past Friday night on hunt we had to endangerment 1 dog came back in where the other three went over a 3/4 mile and got on the main highway. I do have issue's with the rule. 1st problem spectator's using Garmin’s. It is my understanding that UKC is working on that. 2nd thing is why do you need to be watching your Garmin and all hound are within 100 yards of the cast? If you are a guide taking a cast to your favorite drop you already know what to expect at this drop. I have no problem if you turn the dogs loose and haven’t heard a hound in 10-15 mins. Having everyone to check the track on them to see if they are heading for danger etc. It's like all rules some will like it some will hate it. Some will even abuse it. It is a selling point for Garmin people now are buying them just because of this rule. ..
Here is a good one the guide/judge asked the cast the other night if anyone had any problems with Garmin use on the cast. Naturally everyone said know. One did speak up and say it wouldn't matter if anyone did because it's the rule to allow it. Once we get used to the rule I am sure we all will appreciate it. It's like all new changes we have to adjust. .. JMO .... Happy Hunting

Folks were using them before the rule change. All ukc did was make it legal. For instance. The guy asking if anyone had a problem with it. Been there heard that a time or 10.

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A YEAR NOW TRYING TO FIND ONE THE SAME CALIBER OF HOUND AS TERMITE. I WAS AT A UKC HUNT WHEN HE WAS HIT AND KILLED BY A CAR. HE HAD WON 3 STRAIGHT NITE CH HUNTS AND GOT QUALIFIED FOR THE WORLD THE WEEK BEFORE. BEST RULE THEY EVER ADDED TO THE RULES. IT WILL SAVE SOME DOGS LIVES!

So far so good

So far so good. I would expect more people like to know where their dog is, than not know. I like to be able to check and see if my dog is in danger or not. If in danger, scratch my dog I'm going to try and save the dog. A single night of competition hunting is not worth getting a good dog hurt or killed.
Now that people are getting use to being able to use them, It would be about impossible to go backwards I bet.

Lot of good and bad both way. I'm not crying either way bc I have a 320 and Alpha. I just think it's bs the Alpha can't be used. If it's used way rule states then it wouldn't matter what kind of tracker u have. Again jmo.

Posted by john Duemmer on 04-14-2014 08:48 PM:

Heres the deal with the Alphas. Lots of hunters tone break their hounds, and if you own an Alpha you know that tone is loud. Do you want everyone with an Alpha to have the power to tone someone elses dog off a tree?

Oh I understand the whole deal and the rule. Every dog I have is Tone Broke. But u can't Tone them off no tree sitting under a Coon. Lol.

I can't believe no one said......

A real houndsman should know exactly where his dog is and what it's doing at all times whether its barking or not without the aid of a GPS" or "dogs getting hit on the road is just the risk you take when you unsnap that leash".
