-- Which dog would you prefer ? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928353308)

Which dog would you prefer ?

Dog A - 10 times turned loose. 10 single coons seen . Treed a coon every drop. 7 of those coons were anywhere from about 200 yards to half a mile away. 3 of those coons were treed between 1 mile to 1.25 miles away. Now of those 3 coons that were that deep 2 of those times you made it home about 4 AM. 1 of those, you made it home at 6 AM and spent 2 hours dealing with a mad landowner and the sheriff due to where the dog ended up.

Dog B - 10 times turned loose. 5 single coons seen. Treed a coon 5 of those 10 drops. The other 5 drops the dog just hunted out a little and came back to you and didnt strike and you either walked deeper in with the dog or drove to a different spot. Never made it home later than 11 PM.

Other than this dog dogs are identical in every way. Which dog would you prefer ?

Both! First dog 90% of the time and the second dog the other 10% when feeling lazy during the week.

WHen you cut that dog loose you just went coonhunting. Nearly everytime.
But MAN did he tree some coons in style. Even now that im hunting again I would prefer a different style.

I'm old, well older and wiser. Give me dog B. I'd rather look at a few bald tree's then have to walk that far and deal with crap. Sometime's you just have to sit back and enjoy the music. :O)

When I cut one. I don't expect to see one till its treed or I have to pull somewhere to get it. Usually before ones went much over a mile. I've pulled somewhere closer or to get it You don't tree any on our wma land here with B. They been dead a couple months already.I'll take an A if you know where one is cheap.

I've had both and I'll take dog B over dog A.

Dog B you can hunt almost anywhere. They come back in and you move.

There are limited places where you can hunt dog A. If the coons are not moving and a small block they blow right through, a big block around here and you may have to wait until they come out. I lost one 11 days before he made it out of the Sheep Ridge Wilderness in the Croatan National Forest, many dogs never make it out (this is a pocosin swamp)
