Hot Topic!!One Of The Most Feared Female Comp.hunter
Well i am going to nominate none other than ((Gaylan Ryals)) of grenada,ms.She have over 20 years of experience under her belt and if any ever been in the south you probably ran across her with one of those loud loud mouth walkers.I am sure there are more women hunters out there but she one for me to name that gets the job done in a predominant man sport..longcreek walkers
When she used to go, Bobbie Stirek was one that was usually in the winners circle and you never heard a bad word from the people that drew her.

I have been at a few hunts she was at but have never drew her. Sportswoman for sure! I know for sure she gets on here and reads this stuff but never comments. Very nice woman for sure.
Tammy Newlin.
I don't see her around much anymore but a few years back she was an every week winner in the other KC. Good judge, good handler. She hunted some real nice Clover dogs and won far more than see lost.

I believe there was an all woman's world hunt held last year and it was won by Nat Thomas' better half Patty. It wouldn't surprise me if she isn't a better handler than Nat
gaylon is the only female I have ever drawn in a hunt... I have never beat her to my knowledge... and have drawn her lots of times
Make that two for Tammy Newlin. A pleasure to draw and compete against. Straight shooter, no garbage, good hunter. No fear though..... it's a pleasure, even when her dog beats yours.
cck1,
Have you been Deaconized?
I have only been hunting for 7 years.
The dogs I started with are now drawing pensions.
I appreciate your vote of confidence though.
Hope to see you at some hunts soon.
in all the years I comp hunted, I only drew a handful of women.
my daughter, Chelsea Poe, was a tough nut to crack when she was a teenager running around the hunts, and Heidi West was making a good handler last time I hunted with her. both are tough on the bench as well.
Katie Millwood from Ga.. Has over $4,000 handler earnings in Pkc. Handled her dog all the way to the UKC world finals in 2011 including double cast wins at the zones that year.. Has finished too many dogs for me to keep up with from nothing to GRNITE over the years and is good in the show ring too!

Make that 3 for Tammy
IFN
Sarsh Pailin was a comp. hunter ...she would be hard to beat..
This would be none other than 2012 AKC Women's World Champion and also my gorgeous wife, Patty Thomas. She is a UKC MOH & BSJ and a *KC hunt director. She knows the rules and she knows how to use em. Plus, She is a hell of a lot easier on my eyes than the guys I draw out every night!!! She has her pick of some of the best dogs on the other KC circuit and I can promise you that's she's gonna be packing a real live Coondog July 12th and 13th at the 2013 AKC Women's World. My money is on a successful title defense!!!'
There are three that are very tough competitors that stick out in my mind two of which have already been mentioned being Gaylen Ryals and Angie Reid. They both pack good dogs and they know their dog! They are there to win as most are for sure and there is another from Texas Anyssa Howard she is also a competitor, and likewise knows her hound.
Vickey Lamb
Haven't seen anything out of her except some articles but she used to be a hard hunter with some good dogs. Even drew her in the ukc world several years ago.
Hopefully myself, or my sister, Kellie of course! jk
Back in our early days lol...

Back when I was younger running in youth hunts there was a girl named heather waterman I think that's how you spell it. Well she did a lot of winning and I always hoped I never drew her because I didn't wanna lose to a girl. We took pictures in the winners circle but luckily we never drew out together. I don't suspect she still hunts
I'll vote for the Haney girls for sure! I'm not sure how old they were when I first saw them hunting dogs, But they were very young. I remember thinking "They must really like this to come and compete when most other girls that age would be doing a lot of girl stuff"! I haven't drawn against them a lot, But the times I have, they have been sharp handlers and top competitor. I really wouldn't be surprised to see one of them be the first female to win the world some day (they may have to barrow one of them Trashy dogs from Jamie tho ) Good Luck to them and and all the others.
PS Vicki Hanners was tough as they get, Im not sure that she still hunts tho
