We drove 40 miles to a hunt and was 1 Min. Late and can't hunt.. Now gotta drive 40 miles back wasted time and gas........P.S. got behind slow traffic on the way. Just gotta vent alittle...

I walked into a hunt immediately after the moh announced deadline one time. I feel ya pain man I know how it is. I was upset about it but it's the rules. Sorry

As a person who had to tell people no after being late for a hunt, show or field trial, we hate it just as much as you. If I could bend the rules I would, but rules are rules and have to be enforced.

Sorry you missed your hunt, I have been on both ends and neither way is good.

Id have left home a min and a half earlier. Beats me why folks want to just make it before deadline. I like to sit around and shoot the crap myself. Our deadline was 8 tonight. I was there at 6:38 Sure some folk have to work late but they know the rule. I hate anybody not getting to hunt. I hate worse sitting around waiting on folks.

sense ukc has went with some of pkc rules where u dont need your easy enter card . Ukc needs to change the the dead line time where u can enter even if your a min. Late

Rules are not rules , rules are JUST rules ... meant to serve us , not us serve them.

Anyone enforcing rules and laws has the leeway and authority to enforce intent above the letter ... cops can let you off with a warning , judges and juries can carry out what they think is best by using the intent of the law... Jesus forgives rule breakers daily is he wants .

It's other organizations that want to seem more self important that get carried away with it .... as MOH , is it a fake title and you are a puppet ... or does the title mean something like it would if you were a real master of something with real authority and experience ?

Rules are a standard. Just like what we have when we place a dog on the bench or in the woods we have standards by what we are judged by. When we lower our standards you lose something each time we do it. Do we want to keep lowering our standards (rules) to the point where we have little to no standards? Anybody that has run these hunts for any period of time has been one or two minutes late. Leave earlier, get a coffee or something to drink and enjoy a little socializing.

A couple of my friends drove an hour one time and showed up 10 minutes early, got to bull crapping outside and didn't walk inside the club until a couple minutes after deadline, even the MOH spoke with them outside before the deadline. Anyway they drove home and pleasure hunted. Lesson learned. It's a good idea to go sign up and then shoot the bull. :-)
I also know of an old club about 2 hours from here, they have a
clock on the wall that is usually about 3 minutes slow. That is their official time. I use to cut it close more often then not, that old clock saved me one time. Anymore I set out to be there a 1/2 hour early.
They gotta draw a line somewhere, so how about a 5 minute grace period, that way people will have to say they were 6 minutes late and didn't get to hunt :-).

Rules , laws , computers ... they have no brain , judgement or heart ... that's why we appoint qualified people to use them and give them the authority to judge each situation for themselves ... nobody argues with a cop or judge that cuts you some slack and handcuffs yourself ...


When people start letting the rules govern them instead of people or the intent , it's not gonna end good ... but folks are soft nowdays ... nobody wants to actually sacrifice now so they can have what they want later.

If MOH's starting using their judgement and ruling based on what's right ... UKC might kick a few out , but keep it up and they'd have to give in.

Same with anything , we gripe about stuff but don't do nothing about it ... it's easier just let the laws and computers and stuff rule us and hide behind them.

Well Dirtdevil just how much of your time have you sacrificed being a MOH? A competent MOH has no other option than to enforce the rules in the book that have been given him-same as a judge in any sport or court of law. If you don't like the rules then get involved and help change them. If you want to refer to MOH's as "puppet" then get involved and make the changes YOU want!

I see a lot of people in this thread that seem to think the MOH should have let him hunt. Problem with that is that it only takes one hunter there to file a complaint and the whole hunt probably gets thrown out.

The moh title means nothing to me any one that can read can psss the test

Thats why I like the other _kc , dead line to enter shouldnt be that big of a deal, if guys call and are coming wait 30 mins after posted dead line but if they cant make it by then they dont hunt, but dead line for the card to be back is different, just my thoughts

The MOH did the right thing no common sense needed just go by the rules

No cards can come back late because it can take away from another dog, but letting a dog enter late has nothing to do with another dog

what if just 2 or 3 persons show and y,all are 1min late.i bet maybe some would let 2 or3 more hunt if everybody agreed.

rules are intended to be guidelines for all to follow making it equal for all to compete at the same level, the way some people think they can just make up their own set for their convience. then we wonder what the hell is wrong with the hunts today! i have been a MOH for years and its a thankless task, not to mention boring as hell, sitting there by yourself wishing you were hunting instead! Its funny the ones bitching about MOH's are the ones that bring nothing to the clubs in way of support! They want to dance while we pay the band!!!!!
