Snakes in winter

Years ago I used to be a member of a deer huntin' club. This 1 large tract of timber we used to hunt had a pretty big creek runnin' thru it which emptied into the Nottoway River. In the middle of this tract beavers had it dammed up and it was great place to duck hunt.Ihad been in there duck huntin' one mornin.I remember it was like 58 degrees that mornin and it was Jan.18.I had waders on and had killed about 5 woodies and was makin my way across the pond to head out.Just as I was fixin to step up onto the shore,a motion caught my eye.Looked down and it was one of the biggest moccasins I'd ever seen ready to strike.I very slowly took 1 step back and sent him to his maker.I'll never forget that as long as I live.

Snakes don't sleep long in the south during the winter neither do gators. I can deal with the snake, just kick them out of the way not to sound like a billy bad *** (figure of speech) but gators I'm not fooling with. Gators have all them teeth and no tooth brush.

Snake

My buddy, Billy Stark got his dog bit by a rattle snake last mon. night while hunting in a kc hunt near Atkins,Ar. ! didn't realize it till the next morning! Had to take him to the vet cause he had no idea why the dogs neck & jaw were so swollen up. It was 28 degrees out! After thinking about it, they had treed on a tree with a big hole in the base of it.

How did you kill that snake? It don't appear to have a mark on it.

Snake

Your dad is a Man IMO. I would have used a much, much bigger stick. That snake would scare the hell out of Walker Texas Ranger.

Chuck Norris would use that thing for a condom.

But I'm glad we don't have those things around here. I'm not scared of snakes but between every other hazard the dogs have, I am sure glad we don't have to worry about that one.

A crazy man. lol, not this guy, I wouldn't get close enough to hit it with a stick, they made guns for a reason, that would be one of those reasons.

Naw, I didn't know that. I hear where he spits on the ground grass won't grow there anymore. And I hear his tears hold the cure for cancer, but he never cries.
