-- What is up with Victor Feed? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928292802)

Posted by SOUTHERNSTYLE on 01-07-2013 12:22 AM:

What is up with Victor Feed?

When the great Purina Pro Plan went up in price AGAIN, I got fed up and switched to Victor Professional 26/18 Grain Free.

I can not get a firm stool in either of 4 dogs eating this feed, they have been on this feed for about 2 months now, so they have had plenty of time to adjust. Every stool is like a cow pat tie.

Everything that I had heard of Victor was good, am I the only person dealing with this issue???

You might be feeding them to much I know my dogs are on extreme athlete and still if you feed them to much it will get loose ! It's amazing how little you have to feed of good dog food and most are not use to it! Just a thought you might try

Posted by midmohunter on 01-07-2013 12:38 AM:

Victors recommended feeding dose is higher than that of Purina or a lot of other feeds. I have been feeding Victor for a month or so, and I don't think it's bad feed but I know I have to feed more of the victor than I do the pro plan to keep my dogs up. A lot more stool with the victor too.

Just my opinion though.

Same here I have been feeding it for six months I cut back on the amount and they started getting thin I don't really know what to do now

Really?Since i put my dogs on Victor its been one solid stool a day and the dogs look great.I feed 3 1/2 cups a day.So far so good.

Posted by Danny Glista on 01-07-2013 02:20 AM:

Victor 30/20

Been feeding it for a while now. 3 cups per day and hounds never looked better and I was feeding pro plan perfomance when I switched to victor! Easy cleanup solid stool.

victor!!

3 1/2 cups a day{65lb hound}.feeding 24/20{red bag} for winter.hard stool.no problems

1.you must be over feeding?
2.or just put them directly on it with and didn't slowly switch them over?

by far best dry dog food out.

SOUTHERNSTYLE

I had the exact same issue with Victor. I fed Pro Plan for months because I could get it at Petsmart and Petco. I had some extra stool with it as well but wasn't loose like with Victor. It did cost me $47 a bag though. My buddy feeds his Black & Tans Victor and loves it.

I was feeding Native and those guys tried to convince me of the "feeding to much theory". Dont fall for that,,,,

(((((Double feeding shouldnt cause an end result of sloppy stools.)))))
(especially if your hunting most nights). The end results of double feeding should result of larger than normal stools. These new feeds that are hitting the market with the "NO CORN" selling tactics are pulling the wool over the buyers eyes.

Winter time cold weather tells it all, when feeds fall apart while hunting and the hounds use more energy to stay warm. Sounds to me Victors quality may possibly be showing up with problems. Just like Enhance did, Native too.

Throught the years ive been pissed off at the cost hikes and tried many other brands. Always find myself coming back to the best.

victor vs all purina??? lmao

go to dogfoodadviser.com and get educated.

even pro plan

been feeding it a year.no problems!!

slowly blended it in.you can't just switch or your gonna get loose stool with any dog food.

over feed victor will get a loose stool also.what they don't need comes out!!

Posted by coonhunter234 on 01-08-2013 04:29 PM:

we have ten dogs on victor 30/20 and we hunt 2 of these dogs at least 5 nights a week this is by far the best for the money. but i have had some issues with overfeeding and getting some loose stool

Posted by midmohunter on 01-08-2013 05:18 PM:

I didn't have a problem with loose stools. It was solid just a lot of it. I was feeding what was recommended on the bag for the dogs weight and she was losing weight. No my dogs aren't wormy either. I started feeding more to try and put the weight on her and it didn't help. Going back to pro plan shredded blends today. I guess those stars don't work for all dogs. Lol.

Posted by prostockpat on 01-08-2013 05:24 PM:

??

i'd assume like humans;everybodys bodys are different....we all can't eat the same food.
what works for 1 dog, might not work for aother?

Posted by coonhunter234 on 01-08-2013 06:01 PM:

victor dog food

I;think we are going to try a blend of some kind.Any suggestions?

the dog food adviser is a joke, the more money you send to them the better results you will see on the forum....jmo....been feeding dogs for 50 years, had some live to be 14 to 15 years and the feed had corn in it
