Senior Cast Allen/ukc Could You Answer This For Me

GENTLE IS 53 YR'S OLD AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT CLUB'S HE IS PUT INTO THE SENIOR CLASS DUE TO HIM BEING PARALIZED FROM A STROKE. LAST NIGHT THE MASTER OF HOUND'S PUT HIM IN THE SENIOR CLASS WHEN HE RETURNED BACK TO CLUB HOUSE THE MASTER OF HOUND'S THROW THE SCORE CARD OUT AFTER GETTING A WIN AND THIS MAN HAD BEEN IN SENIOR CAST AT THIS CLUB BEFORE THIS ISN'T RIGHT.

THE MAN PAID ENTRY FEE DROVE HIS GAS OUT AND GOT SOAKED IN HEAVY DOWN POURING RAIN AND GOT THE WIN ON HIS DOG

How is UKC to answer your question when you even didn't ask a question?

Even if you consider that a question, you gave no details to what caused the scorecard to be thrown out. How do you expect to get an answer or feeback?

Posted by midmohunter on 12-09-2012 03:39 PM:

I am assuming it got throwed out because he is 53 and not 55 or older?

Still betting there is more to the story that we don't know. I don't know too many MOH's that are out to screw handicapped Coonhunters just because they won.

Posted by carson on 12-09-2012 03:40 PM:

well pretty much he's been in senior cast before at the same club but when he gets a win the score card gets throwed out because they say he isnt a senior plus one of the other members in another cast was upset this person was in senior cast so he started crying after they seen he got the win

person in senior cast scored 350 crybaby in other cast had 225

Posted by kayapellijed390 on 12-09-2012 03:52 PM:

I think they never should have let him enter in a senior cast in the first place there just isn't any reason for. The rules say the cast has to stick together and must go at a pace that everyone in the cast can maintain. I have a good friend with only one leg. He still enters the regular casts and we just slow down for him. Not a big deal if the dogs are tree right they will stay as long as it takes for the cast to get there.

I am not going to try to answer your question, but I think that anyone with a physical limitation should be allowed to hunt in the senior cast. If we go by the rules there is no need for a senior cast anyway. Since UKC has decided to allow a senior cast what is the harm in letting someone with a medically confirmed disability hunt in that cast. a lot of people with limitations would rather not hunt, than to admit they can't keep up with a fast moving cast. Ignoring the rules gets little or no notice when you lose. It will get noticed and acted upon every time if you win. It is just like letting spectators shine trees. Even if every cast member agrees to allow spectators to shine, if just one of those guys complains or brings it up to the MOH back at the clubhouse, you now have a dead cast. The bottom line is that the cast nor anyone else simply cannot agree to ignore the rules. There is never anything "right" about going outside the rules.

Seems the master of hounds takes some of the responsibility for this, he shouldnt have taken the entry for a senior without knowing the guy was 55. This kind of thing is what happens when a rule is bent however well meaning.
A solution would be to contact your breed association and suggest a rule change that would allow handicapped folks to be included with seniors. Seem like a reasonable solution?

Dumb question, when "Seniors" enter Senior Cast - do they have to state their age to the MOH when they ask to be placed in a Senior Cast or does MOH rely on "Seniors" knowing the rules and entering the right cast?

Posted by JiM on 12-09-2012 04:38 PM:

What is a handicap? This is the 21st century, most of the college football stars have handicap parking permits. Today, anyone can be handicapped. Age is simple, it is a number, very easy to verify. I doubt UKC wants to be in a position where they have to determine who is really handicapped and who isn't.

Fact is, UKC has always been willing to work with individuals on a case by case basis and make reasonable accommodations for handicaps. I know that for a fact.

Probably depends on the MOHs. the ones who are on the ball probably inquire.

I don't know for sure but my guess is that it is like putting your dog in the proper class, it is my irresponsibility to get my dog in the right class and if it is found out later that my reg. dog won a ntch class hunt, I know my dog loses it's points.

well jim i know this man pretty good pleasure hunt with him alot he get's tired very easy and his right side shut down on him he has to drag his right leg quit abit causeing him to fall and stubble alot he has several issue's in the normal cast due to this "oh the rules states everyone has to stay together but do you think they do no they dont and the man get's pushed to his limit" this is why he is placed in the senior cast local club's and also at the state hunt here in ky

Jim what would be the attraction for a healthy person to scam their way into a cast that will in most cases be slow and ineffecient?

If the goal is to allow folks that move slow to be grouped togeather it seems seniors and those with phical dissability would be a good match.

outside lookin in, he shouldnt have been in a senior class. Disabled or not. Rules say 55 if he is younger then he hunts regular cast the rest of the cast should be respectful enough to keep a pace all can keep. JMO
