Passing of Wilbert (Jim) Hogan...

Just wanted to pass on the news that Scott Hogan's dad passed away tonight (2/5/12) at apprx 7pm. He was 70. Everyone knew him by Jim.

He loved to show and hunt his B&T hounds.

To honor my father in law's wishes, we will not have a viewing or funeral. He doesn't want any sad or to shed tears of sorrow. He wants his family and friends to be happy as he is now able to run his hounds in Heaven free of pain! Thanks to everyone who contacted us and expressed their condolences. It means so much. His Coonhound family meant a lot to him and without him at the hunts and shows will never be the same.

I will truly miss him, he was a great mentor to me and everything I know about these coonhounds I learned from him, I would not have the dogs the dogs that I have, Had it not been for him. I felt closer to him than I do with my own Grandparents. Any time you had a problem or a question he was always glad to help. I was truly fortunate to know him and have some wonderful times and memories with him. He will always be one of my heroes I will really miss him. But he is in a better place now, where he can once again be the first one to old Luckys tree to spot the coon.

Our prayers go out to Jim's wife Fonda and the rest of the Hogan family. We all knew Jim's days were numbered but you never want to beleive its going to happen.
My girls always knew when Jim showed up at a show here in PA
they had better have their game faces on as Jim would have a black dog on the end of his lead that could win it all.
Jim would always be teasing my girls about taking it easy on him and his black dogs.
The first PA state show that I took my oldest daughter Amanda to was won by Jim with his Elvis dog. Jim & Elvis sure made an impression on her as a 12 yr. and what it took to win a big show.
It sure won't feel the same at PA states with out you ol' buddy, rest in peace.

Too Scott and family sorry to hear of the passing of your dad , what a true gentlemen and sportmen. Jim sure loved them hounds. My old friend i remember the great hunts we had in the mountains of Pa when you ran walkers and i was running blue hounds , no matter who won or lost and when neither one of us won we still had a good time. I always looked forward too seeing Jim at the hunts and show, To this day I remember the comments that Jim said too me after winning the world hunt, jim contacting the newspaper to tell of a local guy winning a major event will never forget that. My Old Friend rest in peace till we meet again keep treeing the coons . To the Hogan Family May God Bless you at this time

Scott, I remember the first time I met you dad was on the mountain behind my dads place. he was hunting a black and tan out of the big wheel tennessee stock. this dog ran a coon under a rock and dan and I were in the hollow with a dog working a coon down the creek. We talked to him for a while, dan and I were real green horns back then just starting out.

You are lucky to be able to share those with your wife, daughter, and family. Your dad was really proud of you. He shared that with me on several occasions.
