been held at gun point twice, once was when i was in high school and the janitor at my school owned a small patch of woods and we got treed in his patch and he did not like that at all so he came out there with his pistol pointed at us, we gladly showed him our rifle and he went back inside, then next couple days at school were interesting when we seen each other. second time was back a few years and a had a man shooting as us/us at gun point and the guy i was hunting with ran up, kicked the gun holder in the shin and took his pistol and threw it into a field....interesting night again...and have been shot at more times than i can count. its all part of people from the city moving out to the "country" and their half acre patch turns into the hundred acres woods in their mind so they think thet have a right to try to run us off. people to actually grew up aound here know whats going on and dont bother us. if they dont like it, they will yell out or call the law. nothing i cant get away from

We had some idiot blazing away at us one night. Our dogs had treed just outside his backyard. My buddies hi-tailed it for the truck, but I was pinned behind a tree.
Not knowing what else to do, I screamed " You sumb!?$&, you just killed Johnny!!!"
You never saw a light go out or a door slam so fast in your life!

Once in the late 60's had a guy hold a double barrel 12 shotgun against my head and said he was going to kill me. One of the guys that I was hunting with aimed a 22 rifle at him and told him he better not. I went to the county attorney the next day and wanted him arrested, but the attorney told they weren't going to because the guy was crazy and had just earlier got out of a mental hospital and had shot up a squad car that had been called to his house earlier that week. guess I was lucky that time.

Been shot at 3different times,
Buttt.....heres a story you guys may like.
My good friend was hunting alone and had dumped in a spot we hunted regularly. It was also a popular teenage hangout to drink build fires, and party. On the way out of the woods he noticed a campfire and figured the weekend was beginning for their partying and continued out of the woods. His path would pass the teens.
Anyway as he aproached them one boy came up to him and said hey mister give me five bucks. He told him I don't know you and I am not giving you 5 bucks. This teen then said is that your truck down by the road.My friend of course is now thinking he is gonna have trouble. He said something about his friend was coming along shortly from up in the woods. The teen replied oh no we watched your light coming down out of the woods and there isn't anyone with you.
At this he said yes there is.And at that he turned back toward the direction he had just came from and hollared "hey Sam" and pulled his .45 Gov Colt from its holster.Put it directly in the teens face and said Sam Colt.
He said the teens eyes got wide and one of his buddies was yelling hey mister he was just kidding. My friend said well I am not.
When he got to his truck he said his foot was shaking on the gas peddle as he started his truck to leave thinking how close he came to shooting some body.
We both carry while hunting.Never know when you may need to protect yourself. Our Pa law makers just passed a no retreat law this past year. Some sensable laws finally for gun owners.

I've had guns pulled on me , shot at ... and shot in the leg..... but none of it happened while coonhunting .

Posted by croatankid on 01-01-2012 01:26 AM:

i had someone pull a gun on me three different times. the first was when i was working at a gas station and was robbed. the second was by a guy that thought i had been with his wife and the last was when a dog i was walking attacked a cat that was lieing in the road and bout killed it. when i looked up i saw the man with one of those little pistols with two vertical barrels. i've been lucky so far. i was shot at once by accident when two guys were target practicing and shooting into the woods where my friend and i were walking down a trail. i kept hearing the shot rip through the brush. we were lucky again.

Gun pulled

Here in NC we are allowed to spotlight all year, but between certain times only. I had took my little girls out spotlighting one night, cause they liketo see all the different animals(bears, coons, possums, deer, etc.). Well a truck almost identical to mine came by and I watchd as they were doin the same thing I was but they hit this guys house with the light. After I ad passed his house and drove bout 1\2 a mile I noticed a truck comin up fast behind me so I pulled off to let it by, but it pulled off too. After waving for it to go by I got out and walked back to it. Apparently this guy thought I shined his house, he pulled a small caliber pistol from between his legs and began threating to shoot my light or me. I carry 90% of the time and calmly explained that it wasnt me. He began to rant about my light and shootin me or it again. So I calmly explained to him again it wasnt me, makin sure he noticed the 357 friends that were lookin at him. Needless to say he hauled ass. I continued on with my kids.

This happened to a buddy of mine, He had 2 coworkers come out on their first coonhunt and was parked down a wet muddy lane on a fri nite in a woods we had hunted for years. When they got back to the truck a mad deerhunter confronted them thinking he had exclusive rights, My friend told him off and loaded up when the deerhunter took his truck and pushed my buddies truck with him and his friends in it all the way down the lane and out to the road. My friend then got out and took his rifle with him, ran up to the deerhunter and shoved the gun barrel right into his face, Dh went pale and apologized on the spot and quickly left, his coworkers were speechless and then asked if this happens often?

The way a TWRA officer explained it to me is the land owner don't have a rite to harm your dog . but you can not retrieve with out permission from land owner or some type of law officer

Had a gun pulled one this past summer by somebody who rents off a neighbors property. Was hunting where I have permission and all of a sudden heard someone telling another person to get a gun. My dog had apparently went past their house and when they looked out and saw my light got freaked out even though I was a few hundred yards away and pulled off of gravel path on the land I as supposed to be on. They yelled at me o stay where I as they were calling the cops and started driving towards me, about a hundred yards out the truck stops and one Guy with a rifle gets out and 'hides' in treeline. Driver comes to me with revolver in his hand realizes I'm just hunting and tells me he thought I as robbing him, then pretends o call the police nd tell thm nevermind it was just a coonhunter. Neighbors said I probably was close to his Meth lab o pot plant or something. Had a nubnose 38 special in my jacket pointed at him the whole ime too.

thats wild. you were lucky!!! ive had people shoot at my dogs, never me. my good friend was held at gunpoint by 2 men. he also had his .22 aimed on the front mans forehead he said. one of them had a shotgun the other had what he thought was an AR. they kept screaming at him to lay down but he wouldnt take his gun off of them either. he said the men were really acting unstable. he had written permission for the woods and the guys kept screaming he was on their land. he got into his coat pocket and called 911. he told the 911 operator where he was if they shot him and she sent the police. they got there in about 30 minutes and made everyone lay on the ground facedown. turns out my buddy was on their land by 15 steps and they owned a 5 acre strip of land and only owned about 20 trees total of the woods. the man turned out to be an ex-ATF agent who was just really paranoid. no charges were pressed but it took a long time for my buddy to hunt at night again.
